So for me, this is more about politics than it is about any emergency.

In essence Trump isn't breaking any new ground and he's not setting precedent.
Personally I don't agree with declaring an Emergency over this issue. It IS an issue that has an apparent immediacy, but currently the solution lies within purview of the Legislative Branch. That's where it needs to come from. I don't care if you are Trump or Obama, Congress refusing to act or not acting sufficiently does not constitute an emergency.
There may be events in the future that would validate claims of an Emergency, but I just don't see them yet.

I'm certainly not a fan of a manufactured emergency. And those who lay claim that it's an actual emergency when the man who enacted it openly admitted that it's not.

You do understand the vast difference between an executive order and declaring a national emergency, right?

Now do you understand the basic concept of the U.S. Constitution and the principles of Checks and Balances built in to it? If you actually do, then you'll understand my point that when a matter is clearly within the purview and responsibility of the Legislative Branch, the President isn't justified in declaring emergencies or issuing executive orders because they don't agree with Congress's action or inaction.

i appreciate the humor, but right now im thoroughly ticked off that part of that money he's trying to redirect is coming from military construction budget, which also funds housing developments for military personnel and their families. something that is very much needed.

You seem to be confusing the issue at this juncture. This isn't really about the wall now. It's about a president calling for a national emergency and while calling for that national emergency, telling the entire nation he really didn't need to do it. That's not an emergency if you don't really need to do it.
Some people seem to support getting what they want at any cost. Some people still believe in the constitution which include the separation of powers. I guess it's all about how powerful you wish to make a president. Some are willing to create a dictator to get what they want.

Trump didn't have to do it, Congress should have approved the money to keep this from becoming an emergency. They didn't act so the President, whose number one priority is the security of the Nation and to whom has been granted these special powers by Congress, has acted.
Emergency powers has been in effect since 1976 and has been used many times by previous Presidents.
Next thing you know he'll be telling you to get his slippers and newspaper and beating you for burning the bacon.
