Strong was a hell of a college receiver. Never know what having a solid QB can do for him. More competition for that 4th to sixth receiver slots.

I remember scouting him for the draft that year. Slow, doesn't get separation, great hands, big, strong, good blocker.

He reminded me of a slower Anquan Boldin (and Anquan was SLOW).

If he can learn to be a solid technician with route running and using his body to get a little leverage and separation, he could be a great target. If nothing else, it's a value signing.

He's actually fairly fast, but he plays a whole lot slower than he is. For a guy with big, strong hands, he sure let the ball get in on him far too often ...... and he doesn't run good routes. He is a great blocker. I do remember him decleating a defender or 2 in college.

We'll see. and as someone said, Dorsey did get Perriman right ..... and we do have Henry to coach him up .... but I don't see a whole lot than a camp body here.

I watched Strong often at ASU...He actually has good straight line speed for his frame...he does wonders in the red zone and makes strong contested catches...I love him on those 50/50 balls...Hes not overly twitchy or athletic..I had no idea he had weed issues, he did have injury concerns...hope he sticks around, I like him over ratley and I expect Louis to be gone.

He was drafted by the Texans in the 3rd round...most mocks had him a 2nd round guy...there was a TMZ video of him getting busted for weed...and he had a hammy issue, Texans waived him...He went to Jacksonville and tore his AcL

Vers I believe his first 2 catches went for 2 TDs and it set some record...I was pimping the dude come draft day, as ASU games were always aired late. If he avoids trouble and injuries hes a great talent.

Yeah I like Willies and the size he has I'd take him over Louis and Ratley anyday

Wide receiver room fixed.

Next?

Only kidding....who knows? He was rated fairly high when he came out and sustained some injuries that derailed things.

A new team and a new chance. Sometimes a player brings out the best when his back is up against the wall and it's his last shot at the dream.

Maybe he can improve the team. That is good enough reason to bring him in and give him a look. Maybe he sticks, maybe he is cut during mini-camp. Nothing lost. A no risk look.

I hope to see him some. Good for pick passes if nothing else. Put him in a slot and let him block.

he's slow but has good hands, is physical, and can block

but he was also injured

we'll see!

A kid with potential coming off an injury, who knows. Dorsey has a good eye for talent, could be another gem, might just be a kick the wheels scenario.

Here is a link with his overall grades and combine numbers.

http://www.nfl.com/draft/2015/profiles/jaelen-strong?id=2552463

Kind of reminds me of Perriman. A guy with a good profile but nothing has gone right for him.

Dorsey likes guys like this. Good physical traits but got off track from injury.

You bring him in and see what you got.

Second chance guys are hungry.

Looking for that 5th WR....

I was a big fan of Strong coming out of ASU, but he never panned out to much due to injuries.

I don't think he makes the roster.

Not sure I understand the Willies love. I'm interested in seeing him again but i'm not banking on him for anything. The hype reminds me of jordan leslie or darrin chiaverini.

Willies is a physical freak and when given a chance against the ravens, he was a beast. Without Willie's we don't win that game.

Then we lose him the next week in practice. So that is why a lot of folks want to see more of the kid.

I was really hoping he would do well in Houston but never really seemed to do much... didn't make it onoto the field much and when he did didn't show much... has good speed but inconsistent... maybe he'll do better here....

Browns newly-signed WR Jaelen Strong ‘extremely hungry’ after sitting out 2018 with ACL injury | cleveland.com
https://www.cleveland.com/browns/2019/02...8-with-acl.html

CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Browns have signed wide receiver Jaelen Strong, who’s eager to prove himself after battling back from a torn ACL at the end of the 2017 season.

Strong’s agent, Robert L. Ray of Ambition Sports Management Group, revealed his client’s up and down journey back to the field.

“On the road to recovery he has had his good days and he has had his bad days,’’ said in an Instagram post. “Nonetheless, he stayed focused and he endured the test of time and patience. ASMG would like to thank the (Cleveland Browns). Your organization is getting an extremely hungry football player and I can’t wait to see him eat real, real soon.’’

Strong, 25, was a third-round pick of the Texans (70th overall) in 2015 out of Arizona State and has played three NFL seasons.

On Oct. 8, 2015 against the Colts, his first two catches were both good for touchdowns, including a Hail Mary at the end of the first half. He finished the year with 14 receptions for 161 yards and two TDs. Midway through his second season, he suffered a serious ankle sprain and was ultimately placed on injured reserve. He was limited to only 14 catches for 131 yards and no TDs in eight games.

In 2017, Strong was suspended for the Texans’ season opener after being charged with marijuana possession in the offseason, and he played in week two before they waived him. Strong was claimed by the Jaguars on Sept. 19, but released and re-signed to the practice squad. He was promoted to the active roster on Dec. 23, and was active for his first game in week 16 against the 49ers.

Strong caught three passes for 38 yards and a touchdown, but suffered the torn ACL and was placed on injured reserve. The Jaguars released him on April 30, and he sat out of football last year.

He joins a receiving corps that includes Jarvis Landry, Antonio Callaway, Rashard Higgins, and pending free agent Breshad Perriman.

Strong (6-2, 217) has played in 20 career games with three starts, and started one playoff game. He has 31 receptions passes for 330 yards with four touchdowns. Coming out in 2015, he ran a 4.4 in the 40 and posted on Twitter in November that he’s back and stronger than ever.

I sure hope not ...

I do think based on Perriman’s agent its going to be real hard and i would be shocked if he don’t go test the waters ....

Unfortunately, I’m not optimistic at all we re-sign him ... i’d say odds are pretty good he walks ...

I really hope we don’t overpay for him like we did VG ... we can’t afford to have two overpaid WR’s .... naughtydevil ...

I think it's quite the opposite. Might even be a little decoy to coax Perriman to the table. Red zone weapon, good body control, physical, same height, same weight, on the rebound... just like Perriman was.

"They've already got my replacement, I better get my head straight and sit down at the table before I'm on to the next."

A little persuasion, if you will. A psychological tool to say "we don't really need you that badly".

Good of spot as any to stick this ...

ANTONIO CALLAWAY
WR, CLEVELAND BROWNS

Antonio Callaway had his minor marijuana charge dismissed.

Callaway paid $911 in fines and received a year monitored probation for driving with a suspended license, but his minor misdemeanor possession charge was dropped. It's good news from a legal standpoint, though Callaway is in Stage One of the league's substance abuse program and could still face a suspension. Callaway led Cleveland with five touchdowns as a rookie and has potential for a sophomore year leap.
