I don't feel anyone is saying "Don't sign one". I certainly don't think Dorsey is saying that either. What I don't think we'll be seeing is three or four big $$$ contract deals.
After reading your follow up post I think we're pretty much on the same page.

The last 5 SB’s have been won by QB’s not on rookie contracts ... 3 of them the pats ... 1 the donks led by Manning and the Iggles last year with Foles as their QB .. I am not sure if people don't get the idea of building a team while your qb is on his rookie contract or if they just don't want to get it? This a fairly new strategy, Diam. It takes awhile for it to produce the desired results. The rookie contracts are vastly different now than they were in the past. Thus, it's in process right now. It's not a long-standing strategy. Btw---------the Eagles had Wentz as their qb and he was lost to injury. He was on his rookie contract. Foles was the back-up. It's obvious that contending young teams like the Rams, Eagles, and Chiefs are taking advantage of the rookie contracts. I am not suggesting that we should "spend wildly." I'm saying now is the time to acquire good players that will surround and support your young qb. I am also saying that bringing in quality free agents after Myles, Baker, Ward, and Chubb reach their second contract is going to be much more difficult. I truly don't see where the confusion lies. It's freaking common sense. The only thing I can think of is that some of us attach different meanings into acquiring players now while you can afford them. So, to be clear..........I am NOT advocating to spend wildly. I'm saying to acquire good players to support your young studs while you can afford it. I think Dorsey made a big splash last year. He made trades, he signed free agents in areas that needed upgraded, used his draft assets, etc to make a "huge splash" in upgrading the talent on the roster. I don't think he will stop trying to improve the team.

I hope that comment wasn’t reffering to me ... to me thats COMMON SENSE .... i even said in my post that it is a HUGE ADVANTAGE ... I think your directing a lot of your comments at me lately because u know I won’t attack like most of the others do ... i’ll ask questions or just let it go because I think i know what your doing ... I guess I’m checking in now, to see if thats true ... *L* ... I’m sure ypu’ll let me know one way or the other ... ...

And I think we had a communication problem in this area earlier. I made the comment that I didn't feel Dorsey would make a big splash in the FA market.
And this is what I meant by that. I just didn't see him signing three or four huge contract deals. I think he will make another big splash this year in terms of upgrading our talent via the FA market. He just has a knack of making such improvements without breaking the bank.
We'll see more marginal players departing that the fans have over ranked and hear them scream loudly about it. Until the Browns look better than last year..... again.

I'm just telling you........after FA is over, don't come up to me saying I was wrong about Dorsey not signing 3-4 expensive free agents, because I have never said anything close to that. And you being from Tennessee don't scare me none.

FRANK CLARK DL, SEATTLE SEAHAWKS
Speaking about impending free agent Frank Clark on Thursday, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said "Frank will be with us, yeah."
The Seahawks have until Tuesday to apply the franchise tag. Carroll said the team is interested in a long-term deal. "Frank just turned, he’s 25, he’s still a very young football player," Carroll said. "He made a huge step this year in terms of his leadership and just growth and his maturity is so obvious. I was really proud of seeing that develop from Frank." Clark notched a career-high 13 sacks despite playing through elbow issues in both arms. He has missed only two games in four years.

The great Dorsey misdirection. We've seen this play out before. I hope Dorsey is staying true to those comments but this is the beginning of the lying season with the combine, FA, and draft preparations going on. Perhaps these comments are being said to leverage future discussions.
At DT, context and meaning are a scarecrow kicking at moving goalposts.

The #Eagles have locked up a huge free agent before it begins: They agreed to terms with DE Brandon Graham on a three-year contract extension. https://twitter.com/RapSheet/status/1101491762999296000

If this happenend ... oh my ... what an O with AB/Thomas and Kamara ... HOLY CRAP BATMAN ....
ANTONIO BROWN WR, PITTSBURGH STEELERS
Mike Silver of NFL Network said to "keep an eye on" the Saints in trade talks for Antonio Brown.
It's unclear if Silver is reporting this or merely speculating, though New Orleans would obviously be an ideal landing spot for the veteran wideout. Pairing Michael Thomas with a future Hall of Famer in AB would make the Saints' passing game nearly unstoppable. The problem, of course, is that Thomas is up for an extension and paying both him and Brown would be difficult to pull off. As it stands now, the Saints have just under $13 million in available cap space, fifth-fewest among the league's 32 teams. The Saints could certainly benefit from adding another top-level pass-catcher, though Brown landing in New Orleans is probably just a pipe dream.

Barring any last-minute snags, the Jacksonville Jaguars are expected to sign free-agent quarterback Nick Foles to a multiyear contract when the new league year opens next week, according to sources.
Teams are not allowed to talk deals with free agents until March 11, and no deals can be announced until the start of the new league year on March 13.
The Jaguars are expected to release quarterback Blake Bortles and install Foles as their starter. Jacksonville will have to pay $6.5 million of Bortles' 2019 salary, which was fully guaranteed when he signed his current contract last year.
The Jaguars' expected signing of Foles was first reported by Philly.com.
Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman said Wednesday that the team would not place the franchise tag on Foles, leaving him a free agent.
"He deserves an opportunity to lead a team," Roseman said. http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/26130769/jags-expected-sign-foles-next-weekI wouldn't mind Blake Bortles as a backup QB.

He said backup.
Bortles can run. That's important. He has experience. That is important. He was part of a team that made the AFC championship game and should have won.
Did I mention that he said backup?
Again, depends on the price.

I'd prefer to just keep Tyrod to Bortles. Who knows what TT will have as a market though
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

I have to assume that Bortles has a bigger ego than to allow himself to be put in a supporting/backup role. But you just can't tell...

There comes a time when ego has to give way to reality. What team is going to chase after Bortles to be their starting QB? He is in a similar situation as Tyrod Taylor is. He's OK ..... but not a different maker. Bortles was QB on a team where the biggest thing he had to do was not screw things up. Teams like having a QB who just doesn't screw things up as a backup, but few want that as their starter. However, he was in a perfect situation with the Jags, with a strong run game and a strong defense. Jacksonville's defense was top 10 in total defense, and top 5 in scoring defense. All they wanted was a guy who wouldn't screw things up and could make a few plays for them with his arm and legs. They wound up choosing our castoff, Cody Kessler, over Blake Bortles. Bortles will have a hard time finding a starting gig anywhere. He couldn't make it work in the perfect situation in Jacksonville. Where will he make it work? What team in need of a starting QB offers a better situation for him to succeed as a starting QB?

I'd rather bring back Kessler than sign Bortles. Bortles doesn't seem to have the makeup to be a good backup. I have questions about his work ethic as the starter, and I don't expect them to lessen if he's relegated to the bench on game days. Not that I'd want Kessler to start games, but I think he'd do a better job of helping Baker get ready while also trying to get better himself.

Your question is, who would take him as a starter,,,
I guess a team that has two situations:
1. A bad starter and 2. someone on the coaching staff that thinks he can work with him to improve him in some fashion
I don't know who that is.
