makes sense. It was a move coming from the moment we saw the contract.

Are you giving Sashi credit for the contract structure?! How dare you!

Nah they'll be overjoyed at the chance to bash a guy Sashi brought in. To some, we're not the Browns. We're either Sashi guys or Dorsey guys, but certainly not Browns' guys. They do not know what team means anymore.

Not a shock. His performance wasn’t close to his salary. We gain about $9 million against the cap.

I think it's interesting to see how many personal insults are being handed out in this thread and the FA thread and who isn't resorting to dishing back the personal insults. I comment on Sashi and Dorsey. The reply w/personal insults. Not sure why the refs don't think that is "bickering" or "derailing a thread?"

Agreed. And what you said, we gain so much more to the cap, it made sense to do this. I do think Collins has more juice left in the tank, though. I wonder where he'll land, if anywhere.

I'll post this response as well here since one thread will be deleted.

And the overhaul of the roster continues.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

With that BS aside....

Collins lacked effort. He didn't love football. There are videos all over the internet, twitter, etc. showcasing his laziness.

I remember watching some of these videos in November and thinking he's gone for sure. It seemed like after this, he played much much better the final 4 games with his job on the line.

I don't think he cuts him if he didn't have a plan. Anthony Barr anyone?

Maybe Barr. Maybe Peppers with Landon brought in to play safety. Maybe the draft. All I know is that I was getting sick of watching Jamie only try when he thought he could get a turnover.

I'm not so sure I'd call it a "plan" per say. I just feel it's abundantly clear you can get a player of similar quality or above at a far lower price. To me that's just common sense.

If we could have cut him in the season after the one game where he gave no effort on the goal line I bet we would have. This was a no brainer.

No surprise at all.

Collins was inconsistent in his effort. Not worth what he was making.

Dorsey last year went after the db's. This year he wants more from the linebacker group.

I would love to get Devin White but there are other options. CJ Mosely is an option. The Ravens did not tag him. They may try hard to sign him to a new contract.

But if he hits FA anything can happen.

IMO Dorsey is looking to upgrade the front seven.

Where ever he can find an upgrade. DT,DE, LB.

He wants more pressure on the quarterback.

I love that. Last year we made huge strides. Now we keep building to improve.

Our offense will score no matter what is done there.

Now we need to match our defensive backs to our pass rush.

Without good pressure you leave the backfield on the island.

We have a stud in Garrett. A good young tackle in Ogunjobi.
Ogbah is serviceable. We could use another tackle or an edge rusher.

I have no doubt Dorsey will act.

Is there a need at linebacker? We have Schobert and Kirksey starting with Peppers being some sort of hybrid. That’s three guys who will be taking up a lot of snaps (Kirksey basically has to play if he’s on the team because of his contract). That basically means we just need some depth behind them.

Of course this could change if we make an unexpected roster move.

That was something I hated to see, the obvious lack of effort by someone who is being paid like a team leader.

I can't stand players who slack off.

I think we have options. Mosely, Barr, KJ Wright, Dee Ford, Preston Smith. White and Bush in the draft.

We should be able to upgrade.

Lost in all this, I don't think Collins was a long term answer.

When we traded for him, he became our best player on defense. Then we paid him as much. I was just looking at his contract. I feel like this may have been a trade/signing to appease the owner/fans that we were striving to get better, but he was not going to be here for our future.

People are mocking the move, but it was a pretty good move by the front office at the time.

There's another player on the roster who we also traded for whose contract seems set up similar to Collins... and who very well might end up being cut unceremoniously this time next year... Don't say I didn't warn you.

He was good then injured, played a bit scared and now is gone. I still don't see the need to overpay nor draft one high. Kirksey, Schobert and kindred with an xtra db is fine with me.

For me LB is a FA or trade move... I don't know that we will draft one high.

Good pass rusher, too often out of position on running and pass plays. He over pursued and took bad angles a lot. Not surprised.

I wonder when he knew this was going to happen. If my eyes don’t deceive me it was around week 8-10 when his play picked up from worthless, to making a play once in a while.

There are a lot of good FA LB's like Mosely Ford and Barr That would be IMO an Upgrade over Collins, and if Devan White falls to us we can take him, I think Devan Bush may be available in the 2nd Rd. ... JMHO

I'm not a coach. Moseley would be an impact player here. Find them both roles. Players get dinged up all the time.

Also around the time Hue was relieved of his duties. A lot of things got better then as well.
