Correct.

Haden was released. No comp pick. Haden was also offered to restructure his contract and stay in Cleveland, he said no.

Seems like some tend to skew the facts to fit their....

Browns got a 3rd for Mack, a 4th for Schwartz and a 4th for Gipson. They also got a 5th for Benjamin.

Looking at this chart, I'm reminded that tagging Schwartz would have cost about 12 million. I think at the time (haven't looked recently) this contract for Schwartz made him the 3rd or 4th highest paid RT in the league. I think he would have been the highest paid RT (other than Lane Johnson) had he chosen to sign the contract rather than test the FA waters which subsequently turned into a possible blunder by our FO.

It was definitely a blunder not re-signing him long-term.

Successful franchises don't spend 2nd rounders on backup interior linemen. Zeitler is very good, but a QB has more of an affect on whether they get sacked than the linemen has.

In today's NFL, it's more important to keep pressure from coming up the middle that it is from the edge. Zeittler is an outstanding Guard. He is also a very strong run blocker.

An interior pass rush is becoming focused on more and Zeitler has been one of the best pass blockers and makes up an amazing interior line. If this "move" is just to play Corbett.....

I can't say if Corbett is going to a great OG or not but I know Zeitler IS so please leave him alone ...

Exactly why he has trade value. I don't want to get rid of him, but if someone calls about a 2nd round pick, well they would have my attention.

For who? Ziegler?

Stick to your QB La'La Land. Murray and Tua.

He was injured in '16, '17 and '18. Has had multiple concussions.

I'd imagine he'll come cheap if he is signed.

I agree. I don't think we should trade Zeitler. He played very well last year.

I think it is important to have a very good OL in front of Baker because if his first read isn't there, he takes too much time to go through his progressions. While PFF grades are not an end-all, I believe he was ranked in the top 3 interior linemen last year. I hope we keep him.

Texans' Kevin Johnson: Texans looking to move on
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Johnson has been made available for trade by the Texans and could be released, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Johnson is coming off three injury-plagued seasons in which he played only 19 games, including only one game in 2018. The Texans picked up his $9.07 million option for 2019 last spring, but the money is not yet fully guaranteed. Given his contract and injury history, finding a trade partner is likely to be challenging.

Texans' Kevin Johnson: Medically cleared
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Johnson (concussion) said doctors have cleared him, and he'll "be ready to go next season," Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Johnson was limited to one game in 2018, the second time in three seasons he's missed more games than played. The Texans exercised a team option on Johnson for 2019, and he's expected to be one of the starting cornerbacks. He's known as a physical corner and for his willingness to engage.

I don't mind trading him. He can be replaced. I am not a big fan of OBJ. I have a good friend who grew up in NYC and is a big Giants fan. He hates OBJ. Says he is a team wrecker.

That is just his opinion, but I sort of get that feeling as well. He is a high maintenance person.

I have said that for a long time. QB's hate pressure up the middle. On the edge they can deal with that as long as the tackles protect more to the inside. QB's can step up to beat that pressure. A step or two up brings their tackle back in to position. In their face pressure is the killer.

KEVIN JOHNSON
DB, UNSIGNED FREE AGENT

Free agent CB Kevin Johnson will visit the Browns Friday.

Johnson has already met with Buffalo since his release from the Texans. The oft-injured Johnson is healthy but he has a concerning concussion history. Johnson should be open to one-year offers.

Johnson had a lot of talent when coming out of Wake Forest I believe...obviously the concussions are concerning...see Ward and EJ Gaines...wouldn't mind him for depth with Gaines leaving.

Hey tru.........good post. I agree w/you about Johnson and I liked him in that particular draft. He did play for Wake.

I liked that he was very athletic and seemed to have that coveted quick-twitch ability. Had very good hips and could transition quickly. The negative I had on him is that he was kinda slight of build and durability was a concern according to some of the reports I read.

This rumor about Zeitler being shopped "if" accurate is more about Corbett.

Corbett was not going to crack the OG lineup with Bitonio and Zeitler there.

At the same time Corbett was a second round choice. Bitonio and Zeitler are highly paid. Big investment at guard.

So, if OBJ can be had for Zeitler and draft picks?

That would all depend upon where those draft picks are?

Zeitler is making about $10 a year. OBJ $20. OBJ is 26 years old. Zeitler 28.

What draft picks would make this happen?

My guess a second this year and maybe next years first rounder.

If we picked low next year?

I would consider it for sure.

OBJ is a talent playing on a bad team. He is not going to make them a title contender. They have needs including a future quarterback. Draft picks and Zeitler would help probably more than Beckam.

What would he do for us? Well Perriman and his agent apparently think he is worth a bunch.

Maybe he is not. There is no doubt what Beckham can do.

Landry is high strung. So is Beckham. They are buddies.

We could expect big results and most likely get them.

I agree. Corbett is a big part of the talk.

One of the negatives I have with OBJ is team fir. I do have to consider his relationship with Landry. Could be that any problems he has had in NY is because of problem with that team. It doesn't mean those will be problems on this team.

As to the picks, whet you mentioned sounds reasonable to me. I would have said something along the same line. With OBJ, one would think we could score more points and inserting Corbett wouldn't subtract many points, so one would think we will be picking in the mid twenties next year. At least we hope so and expect so.

While I have no apparent objection to acquiring OBJ, that seems far too high a price to pay.
