I worked on the first few seasons of the reboot when Trebek became host in '84. My job was supervising the load in and set up. About two weeks into the first season there was a mishap while the forklift operator was setting the header onto the JEOPARDY letters and they fell, smashing all the neon tubing. Fit hit the shan. There was a lot of yelling and tears but they were repaired and the taping went on as scheduled. I'll never forget the frozen looks of horror on everyone's face when it happened.

Pancreatic cancer is fast. By the time it’s diagnosed the clock is ticking. You’re lucky if you get 6 months.
My prayer for him is he has a good hospice team. That his pain is well managed. That he passes in his home with those that love him at his side. May his passing be as peaceful as one can be.

God speed.

This just bring back memories for me of Roger Chanoine. He survived for four years with Pancreatic cancer.

Good info. I thought 7 months was the average life expectancy after diagnoses of stage 4.

Watched a friend go from just fine, diagnosed, was told she ought to do what she wants before treatment. She, her husband, and at the time jr. in high school daughter, took a nice vacation.

Treatment started. The last time they saw the doctor, he politely told her "Chris, we aren't going to do treatment today." The Doc knew it was doing nothing.

In a rush for a last vacation, away they went, to an exclusive island in the gulf coast. She died there.

7 months after being diagnosed.

My father in law passed within 6 weeks of being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He came home from work one night and said that his side was hurting. Went to the doctor the next day and just went down the tubes faster than anything I've ever seen. He went from a strong, broad shouldered man to...I can't even describe it. It is one horrible way to go. He was a tough old guy and probably was feeling the pain for a while before telling us. He was only 56 years old.

I certainly hope he beats the long odds. As I seem to recall telling another friend of mine who is battling cancer ..... someone has to beat the odds .... why not him ..... or Trebek.

Not the biggest fan of either Jeopardy or Alex T's for that matter. But you would not want to wish anything harmful or foul of cancer on even your worst enemies. Or not fans of theirs. Pancreatic cancer is the worst cancer to get. That and brain cancer are up in the top five to say the least. Wishing and thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones.
