The C in cfrs actually stands for Cronkite. Little known fact. Millenials on the board are asking themselves "What's a Cronkite?" *looks around* ... Yeah those millennials!

Was hoping we would grab Perryman at LB, looks like the Chargers resigned him before he could hit FA.

Yeah Perryman is a good depth type guy
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Perryman is going to be the future of that team if they continue playing 6+ DBs.

Kwon Alexander is a guy I wouldn't mind adding. Is coming off the ACL injury, but his rehab seems to be going well. He's still only 24! Monken should have some insight. He's the LB type the NFL is trending towards. Him and Schobert at Mike and Will with Avery at the Sam sounds pretty good to me. Kirksey around to see some snaps and insurance against injury. Let them all fly around.
Splash plays are the name of the game on defense. Get a negative play and now we can turn up the heat with Myles and Olivier.

Hyde's lack of burst was so apparent once Chubb was in the lineup

It worked against the Ravens, but weren't they so banged up at LB that they had no choice but to play 6 DBs.
It worked against the Ravens, however, the Pats totally exploited that as one would have expected.

I think it worked against the Ravens because they utilized speed to help negate Lamar and the outside zone stretch plays.
I think it failed against NE because the Pats lined up w/big TEs and a FB and physically dominated those smaller guys. The Chargers then had to over-commit and the passing lanes on the underneath and routes out to the flats were wide open.

Hope that isn't true. I thought he played well last year.
I know some might not like this, but I don't think it is a huge stretch that this team drafts another TE high. Njoku is talented, but he is very inconsistent.
It also makes some sense to have two TEs that can exploit the middle of the defense, especially Cover 2 teams that leave the seams open.

I agree...Was never a huge fan of Njoku, wildly inconsistent and he may be the worst blocking TE since our return in 99...Devalve lost favoring in our O, and he is probably on his way out. Fells at least offers some blocking ability, though he got away with quite a few holds in the beginning of the year (I quit watching him so closely as we began turning things around) I know he's old, but seems he was a decent big target for Baker as well....Idk why we are looking to get rid of him, unless we are planning on a bigger asset either FA or the draft....I would not mine stealing Jesse James from the Steelers...His blocking has turned around for the better, and he's a solid mismatch threat with his size...Would be a nice one two punch with Njoku. I'm not sure we can get anything for Fells given his age and contract...I would hate to see us cut him, when our cupboard is rather bare. I was hoping we'd retain Orsen Charles...that guy played with insane passion and energy for us.

could never understand the lovefest for DeValve. hes the Ranell Hall of TEs. Fells is so much better at getting a hat on LB and negating him.and Fells is pretty good in the red zone. Maxx Williams would be intresting guy to look at or Cameron Brate

I know Baltimore has had a really deep TE core (Andrews, Hurst, Boyle, Williams)

Anyone else see that blurb on rotoworld that we are shopping Darren Fells? No, but I did see a tweet about 10 minutes before you posted that said the Jets wanted a better blocking TE and were thinking about trading for Fells.

TJ Hockensen in the draft, perhaps. Not sure he would be there at #17.
I would prefer him over any of the WRs projected to go in the 1st round.

Demetrius Harris of the Chiefs is a free agent, he has a rep as being a pretty good blocker.

I can see it, and if we are shopping Fells, it might even confirm we are looking. As for Njoku, this is a big season for him. I think most knew he was going to take a while. Well, the "while" is this season. He has to iron out some of the inconsistencies you mentioned. He has gotten better but isn't at the potential he showed when drafted. It might be time to draft someone to take the baton if necessary, and this is a pretty good TE class. The better teams usually have a very good TE. At this point Njoku has produced numbers that any non blocking TE could produce.

If we go TE I hope we take Hockenson. I doubt he gets past Green Bay though.
I also agree with a previous take - if we want a receiver take a premier TE. Unless Hakeem Butler somehow lasts till our 2nd pick.

ANTHONY BARR LB, MINNESOTA VIKINGS
The Athletic's Connor Hughes reports the Lions are "considered the favorite" to sign free agent Anthony Barr.
Hughes adds the Jets are "very, very high" on Barr as well, and the Vikings are also still in the mix to keep him. The pass-rusher market is devoid of game-changing talent at the top after all the franchise tags, so there's a real chance Barr gets a serious pay day. Barr was a sack master at UCLA but wasn't used that way in Minnesota as an off-ball linebacker. The Jets and Lions are likely looking at Barr to rush the quarterback more than he was allowed to with the Vikings.

TREY FLOWERS DL, UNSIGNED FREE AGENT
The Athletic's Connor Hughes reports the Dolphins "like" free agent DE Trey Flowers.
The Jets also have "serious interest" in 25-year-old Flowers, who is a surefire bet to get paid big money as the top pass rusher on the market following the franchise tag frenzy last week. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Flowers is expected to get around $17 million per year. He's going to have a plethora of suitors and is likely pricing himself out of a return to the Patriots.

JUSTIN HOUSTON LB, UNSIGNED FREE AGENT
Chiefs released OLB Justin Houston.
This was always the most likely outcome given the $32.25 million still owed to the 30-year-old over the next two seasons. Houston's release frees up $14 million in cap and $15.5 million in cash this upcoming season, giving the Chiefs more than enough room to work with in their reported hunt for another starting safety once free agency officially opens. Houston's performance has slipped in recent seasons, but he can still be a serviceable edge rusher in limited packages on the right team.
