No, Danny Shelton gained too much weight and became less effective.
That is why he was benched in New England and will almost assuredly be allowed to leave.

Very curious to see how this will be addressed.
Because there will be some decisions at linebacker and I think that goes hand in hand with DT.

I said nothing of a dual threat QB.
Actually if you look CHS is the one who stated dual threat as he stated on your behalf of evolution about a QB that is going to get yards in the air and on the ground. I suggest you take that up with him.
The point seems lost on me...if you actually make one maybe I'll agree. You start off a discussion with those words?
What you stated on what you are referencing...extend plays...that has been in the makings for a long time. What I do see on your behalf btw. Is the ACCEPTANCE of Shorter QBs. I do agree the 6'5" DA's Flaccos are not as valuable as in the past. The Eli's who actually is pretty good at what you ask for in the NEW QB, Another was Romo he did amazing work extending plays...But Broke his Back literally doing it.
Brady moves around inside the pocket with great ease and unexpected agility. He makes time!
Rodgers is great at it and if anyone in the current era created this desire its probably him. But it is a combo thing. The most important variable with these QBs is Accuracy.
Btw I was a student of Warren Moon. I remember when he came out and went to the Canadian League because they wanted to make him a WR in the NFL...IDIOTS!
There was an offense theory that did well in College but just could not carry water in the NFL. It was the Mouse Davis Run and Shoot. It was the a NEW system that eliminated the FB and extra protection for the QB...all would go into patterns and would leave the QB by themselves. When tried in the NFL all those QBs who tried FAILED cause they got KILLED. This was in the era of Rushing 5 with 3-4 Defenses and guys like Lawrence Taylor. Clay Matthews and Chip Banks.
Warren Moon was THE ONLY QB who was able to carry it out. What you all don't know is that Moon was amazingly DURABLE he took on everything teams would dish out. And he got hit. But he never was damaged. Just an Amazing QB what he was also was VERY Accurate!
Anyways...what you are talking about is nothing new. I think the biggest change is the acceptance of shorter QBs. We sort of broke that mold with Baker and now the 5'11" Murray will be the #1 pick.
Always will to talk Football. Please don't start a discussion with. "The point seems to be lost to you" Make the point first!
Defense wins championships. Watson play your butt off! Go Browns! CHRIST HAS RISEN! GM Strong! & Stay safe everyone!

Two round mock on CBSsports.com by Chris Trapasso has the Browns taking CB Greedy Williams in the 1st round, and DT Jeffery Simmons in the 2nd. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/news...ack-in-round-2/

That would be two players who have very high grades.
Getting Simmons in the second could prove to be a major coup.

If the organization wants Simmons as badly as I do, they may have to move in front of the Bengals at 41 to get him.

Dorsey's going to open himself up to some serious PR heat if they draft Simmons after having signed Kareem Hunt, not to mention drafting Tyreek Hill while in KC.

I don't think he cares about that.
The Simmons case is questionable. I don't know all that happened. But it sounds like there were extenuating circumstances.
I don't think it will be a big deal.
It remains to be seen where Simmons goes. The can wait on Simmons. They can patch the DL with Ogbah, Coley or others.
Some teams don't want to wait a year.

And those criticisms would be a lot more palatable if they were brought by a real journalist and not MKC who works herself into a conniption at everything and who praises QB, not by their ability, but which one she'd like to get #metoo'd from.

Well...let's see...
The Giants don't have a 3rd and just traded one of their 4ths for one of our 5ths...
The Pats 3rd round pick (95) with our 2nd (49) should net us the Giants 2nd (37) while leaving NY with a 2nd and a 3rd.
Simmons at 37?

I doubt the injury cost Simmons more than a round.
Both Sidney Jones and Jaylon Smith went in round 2 (picks 43 and 34 respectively), so historically a commonly recoverable injury costs 20-25 slots for a high end player. ie: Myles Jack
That said, I would definitely take Simmons if he were there at 49.
I stand corrected, I guess I probably should have looked that up lol thanks for the heads up Baron.

We have a three year window. Using a second round pick on a player that can't play during one of those three years does not seem wise.

... or do we want a wide-body, stay-at-home, blocker-eater who clogs the middle? You mean like ...Danny Shelton? You beat me to it First we got to find out what kind of Defense we are going to run. That two Gap NT in the front 4 is Old School and we have different Offenses being utilized. We might be utilizing a One Gap attack Defense from our DTs and with the New offenses Speed combined with power is very key.
2. We got Trevon Coley who is very similar to Shelton.
3. Of course now that Shelton is gone we got dawgs pining for him as if he is a Pro Bowler or something.
Let Dorsey do his thing. I got a feeling we won't need a 2 gap NT for one play in the series. Im all for Richardson in FA I assume Dexter Lawrence will be gone by our #17. He can play both Attack one gap as well as 2 gap.
Simmons will be perfect if we get Richardson so he can heal up for a year. Richardson has been playing on a 1 year contract for the last two seasons. He might want that again.
I remember there was another guy who would just sign one year contracts...he got more money for the one year and was confident that his services would be needed the next year. Wonder if he has an Agent as I think the other guy who did that did not.

Simmons has great potential, but I don't want to draft a player in the 1st rd. that can't play because of injury, I want a player that contributes in 2019 not 2020, I mean I'm 62 and I want to win NOW!!!!

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

I don't think anyone is pining for Simmons in the 1st round. He would however be a great pick in round 2 (even if we have to trade up a bit). The classic half round minimum penalty applies in reverse. In other words, most teams value a 2020 1st round pick about the same as the 1st pick in round 2 this year (since no one knows where in 2020 that pick will occur, it's pick 17 minus a half round). Some teams may get slightly better consideration (the Browns of old who were assumed to be picking in the top 10) and some teams may get worse considerations (errr.. the Patriots). But generally a half round penalty at minimum. Inverting that, if you consider Simmons a sure-fire top 20 pick this year (minus injury), then you should be willing to take him in the top 40 as his injury is commonly recoverable and he would be full go next year. Maybe football front offices are just more numb to injury than the rest of us. By the way, does any of this make since?

Dane Brugler Mock Draft 4.0...
17. Cleveland Browns – Christian Wilkins, DT, Clemson (6-3 1/4, 315, 5.04)
The Browns need to add depth on the defensive line, especially the interior. Wilkins can be inconsistent vs. the run, but his quickness, body flexibility and ball awareness allow him to make plays in the backfield. He would be a natural fit as the three-technique next to Larry Ogunjobi at the nose.

If I had to choose a healthy Wilkins or gamble that I could get Simmons in round 2, I'd reluctantly take Wilkins who I think is an excellent prospect.
If Wilkins, Oliver, et. al. are gone then I put my Simmons plan in overdrive.
