LOL...ok it is easy to talk about the top WR's we have or might go after. But let's talk about the rest of the room. These are guys that are called in to duty when needed...And the past few years...we needed them. Some of these guys are in the "Oh yeah...that's right....I forgot about them" category. Others are in a "I forgot about him...can we leave him there" type category...Either way some will definitely be gone. The others will be battling each other and any newcomers for the chance to stay.

Derrick Willies
I personally am interested in seeing what Derrick Willies does when things start up again. He was hungry....and shifty. He had a good rapport with Baker. He seemed like someone that was moving in a forward direction in his development.

Ricardo Louis
Truly the forgotten man in this WR room. Ricardo Louis has speed and seemed to make some strides in year 2. If he comes back with a chip on his shoulder, he might be an asset. If he comes back with entitlement...he will be gone. He is going to have to work hard to earn reps with Baker...

Damion Ratley
I was hoping for more from Damion Ratley. Don't get me wrong. I was not expecting him to light the world on fire. But with his size and speed, I hoped he would have been able to flash a little more. He may have played in more games this year...but Willies flashed more then Ratley. In rookie years, that is what you are looking for...the flashes...and then you work toward making those flashes happen on a more consistent basis.

Rod Streater
I don't know. I have never been a fan of Rod Streater's game, and in some ways I wonder why we picked him up. I do know why...he was one of the few available when our WR room was very thin last year due to injury and trade. I don't see him on the team this year with the players coming back and any Draft/FA additions. I mean isn't Jaelen Strong just a younger bigger and better version of Streater?

Others
Might as well put Strong here. Sure we talked about him when we signed him...but the voices ran silent and...what did we get? Does anyone know much about him?

Blake Jackson is a complete unknown to me ..at 5'10" and 200#...He sounds more like a RB...

What are your thoughts on these guys and who do you think will still be here after the roster cuts? Sure not the easiest to predict without knowing what else we are bringing in...And we will be bringing people in. Who are you interested in seeing? Who do you think can develop? Who can make the biggest strides this year?

Willies is someone with strong chemistry with Baker and a good work ethic. He showed some nice promise. He may stick around.

Louis? Gone
Ratley? MAYBE a long shot
Streater? Gone

Lewis can’t catch ... he’s gonzo ...

As for rhe rest ... if we re-sign Perriman or go get Williams like most are hoping for ...

That means u have a room of

VG
Calloway
Higgins
Perriman or the Gazalle ...

That leaves 1 or 2 spots for the others ... and thats if we draft none ....

There gonna have a hard time due to the upgrade of our WR since Sashi left ...

All i know is Lewis can’t catch ... hes GONZO ... i’d be beyond stunned if he’s still here ... actually miffed as to why he’s still here ...

I'll likely be the only one in this thread rooting for this guy...

but I'm hoping Ricardo Louis at least makes it through preseason. He had an injury that cost him last season, and despite his drops his 1st two years in the league, I think he would have shown improvement.

His odds to make the final 53 are super slim. He may not even make it to camp. But I'd like to see more of him before that cut happens.

All the other guys, I'm indifferent.

I think you definitely have a point with Louis (sorry for the previous spelling) I was not expecting him to make the team last year...but that was when we had Jarvis, Coleman, and Gordon (and when the optimism and hype were big) Landing on IR saved him for another year. I do however feel he was making strides in 2017. And he is going to have to be very hungry to make a spot on this team.

your top 4 tho is an assumption that we sign either Perriman or Williams (or draft DK Metcalf...lol). none of which is a sure thing. We have a lot of interest in Williams...but that doesn't mean he is signing here. Perriman is puling a Pryor...and well that is making things a bit more dim to him being back. And with the DT's available at 17...I don't see us drafting a difference making WR at 17. So there MIGHT be one more spot available to fight for.

I would think Willies and Ratley have a decent shot in camp ...

Willies for his size, but not sure why everyone talking about his chemistry with baker...he has 3 catches. If you want to talk someone that probably replaceable if not for his chemistry that would be higgins

Let's assume Landry, Callaway and Higgins are locked.

I think we can also assume Perriman or another speedy WR will be picked up. That leaves 1-3 spots. I think Rod Streeter is gone, was signed off the scrap heap, showed little, supplanted by Perriman. Ricardo Louis will really have to show something in camp to keep his spot, he's a previous regime guy and hasn't shown much. Willies and Ratley have the best chance to stay on but I see them as little more than depth or special teams.

Louis was IR'd early in camp. I don't think we could cut him.

I like both Willies and Ratley. One of the reasons I don't feel like we need to spend any early picks on a receiver.

If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.

Jaelen Strong thankful for opportunity to resume career with Browns

Jaelen Strong spent the 2018 season out of football. Now, he's just thankful to be back, even if it is the offseason.

Strong, a former third-round pick of the Houston Texans, signed with the Browns on Wednesday.

"Cleveland gave me the opportunity," Strong said during a Friday appearance on Cleveland Browns Daily. "I was just thankful that they accepted me with open arms and welcomed me to the team. It really wasn't a choice. Soon as I got there, the love that they were showing and everything just made me feel welcome."

Strong spent his first three seasons in the NFL with the Texans, where he caught 28 passes for 292 yards and three touchdowns in his first 18 games. The former Arizona State standout battled an ankle injury near the end of his time with the Texans, which officially ended shortly after he was suspended one game for violating the NFL Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse.

Strong caught on with the Jacksonville Jaguars, recording three receptions for 38 yards and one touchdown in his first game with the team. It was ultimately his only game as a Jaguar, as an ACL injury ended his 2017 season.

Browns general manager John Dorsey has made a habit out of taking fliers on former high draft picks who previously struggled to meet their high expectations (Greg Robinson, Breshad Perriman) and watching them blossom with the Browns in less than a full season. It helps when a team suddenly solves its quarterback quandary in emphatic fashion.

"He's a winner," Strong said when asked what he likes about Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield. "He's a championship player and the fact that he's a leader and I'm excited to be able to share a locker room with guys like him and Jarvis (Landry), those guys I look forward to getting in touch with and building the chemistry and most importantly, learning. Doing whatever I can do to help Cleveland become a better team."

It's also an interesting time for the Browns' receiver position. Cleveland has Landry entrenched as the leader of the room along with Antonio Callaway and Rashard Higgins as promising young talents. Beyond them lies some questions: Will the Browns re-sign Perriman, who came out of nowhere to catch 16 passes for 340 yards in a 10-game span that also included two memorable touchdown grabs in late-season thrillers? And how much more active could Cleveland be in free agency or the draft, where it holds 10 selections?

Regardless of how the depth chart shakes out, Strong emphasized his gratitude for the Browns and their pursuit of his services, especially after a season away from the game.

"I'm not really thinking about myself in this aspect right now," Strong said when asked about what he brings to the Browns. "I'm thinking about whatever I can do to help Cleveland. They gave me the opportunity to come in and show them I can play and that's exactly what I plan to do, is come in and focus on that and just giving Cleveland my all."

I like the idea of Willies a lot more than I actually liked Willies. Maybe he'll have developed, but he was awful raw last season. I'd also prefer my big-bodied receivers to be more physical.

Louis couldn't catch. Let's see how he does with a full off-season with our magic working WR Coach.

Forgot about Strong, I could see him being this season's version of Perriman (former prospect that appeared to flame out and can be productive)

I like Jalen Strong, but pardon the pun, his strong suit is NOT separation, which is one of our biggest problems with our current core.

Jc...

Louis lacks effort as well, go back and watch any tape on him on special teams or attempting to block...I think he'll be the first one out of here once his neck heals...He can't play special teams, so he is out...Only reason he is still around is because of medical.

Louis & Streater are just guys. Neither has a lasting future here; possibly not even make it to camp.

Willies & Ratley will get another camp and preseason to show themselves, but I doubt that the presence of either will stop us from looking for upgrades at the 'X'.

Perriman is the big unknown. He has all the potential to lock down our 'X', but he & his agent are looking to cash in right now (which is utter foolishness after how long he was bad in Baltimore).

Yup, but if they aren't getting more consistent with flashing we may not even bother. There are tons of WR every year with potential.... they'll get their shots, but they have to make something of them. We don't have a ton invested in these guys; it will be easy to let them move on.

All that said, I'm actually betting both of them make the 53 and contribute in 2019. I liked what I saw of them both in 2018, albeit briefly. Still, the point is that in limited opportunities, they produced decently for rookies that had almost no expectations on them. They didn't make a ton of mistakes; they just came in and did work.

Amid the drops, and bad QB play, I still think Louis can grow and get better.

So our WRs this season shall be:

Odell Beckham Jr
Jarvis Landry
Antonio Callaway
Rashard HIggins

And then guys like Willies, Ratley, Louis, Strong, draft picks fighting for 2 spots

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

2 spots??? I don't think we will carry 6 WRs.

Keep in mind Njoku the new kid Harris and Duke are all WRs as well.

Do we look like the same team as last season...and Kitchens is not Hue or Haley.

We didn't know who what where last season. I think its pretty defined on what we got here. Adding Hunt puts Duke closer and closer as an out right WR. and we got Njoku and Harris now who both measure up to be more WRs than TEs.

I'm not sure Duke will still be around. I'm guessing special teams will be important for the WRs that stick.

Yeah everyone ASSumed that after we got Hunt and yet he's still here. But I hear ya, he could be traded, I still think he will get reps here and I've been stating for a couple years now it will be at WR.
