Dorsey clearly wants a line that can get after the QB......and good at stopping the run.

In his defense, I don't think he has gotten much sleep the past couple days.

Curious to see the $$$.

2019 Free Agency Profile: Sheldon Richardson

Sheldon Richardson earned an overall grade of 72.2 in 2018, ranking 56th out of 129 qualifying interior defensive linemen. It has been a few years since his days in New York as an elite run-defender, but Richardson is still a serviceable player who can defend the run and rush the passer.

Richardson recorded 18 run stops on 272 run-defense snaps, good for a run-stop percentage of 6.6%, ranking second among Vikings’ interior defensive linemen last season. Richardson also had 47 total pressures (30 hurries, 12 hits, five sacks) on 407 pass-rush snaps, giving him the 17th-best pass-rush productivity rating (6.4) among qualifiers. Still only 28 years old, the former first-round pick can be an impact player for plenty of teams in the NFL.

Ditto, my original hunch should have been 8-9m a year, but the money being thrown around this year makes me wonder

should be a good addition, and hopefully didn't cost THAT much

Dorsey has shown some restraint so far, so hopefully he didn't cost too much.

Define not to much ... *L* ...

Question isn’t IF he got overpaid ... the question is by how much ...

This opens the gate for us to draft Simmons in round 2 if we so choose ...

I’m guessing he became an option after we bowed out of the Mosley bidding war ...

Or if we have a good out in the contract after 1-2 years, which would allow us to draft a DT early this year

Wanna see the numbers, but on paper another typical Dorsey signing.

26-28 year old, mid tier salary guy, that has something to prove and plenty of gas in the tank. Also seems to have that attitude you want in a def player.

In Dorsey We Trust.

Great pickup, just the type of the player you should be signing in FA, not these crazy pickups like Mosley.

I was telling my brother, in 3-5 years, we are going to have to pay Baker 20+, myles 20+, ward 15ish, and peppers/njoku, as well as Chubb. Your talking about 70+million for 5 to 6 guys possibly. We cant blow all this money on Mosley's and other big ticket FA.

I would ASSume around 10ish - maybe a little +/- depending on the guarantees

I'll guess 3 years $34 million with around 20 million guaranteed

I've been bemoaning our front 7 for 6 months. Richardson and I would sign another DT or draft one.

Big fan of this signing.

Some of us have been talking about signing Richardson and drafting Simmons in round 2. It seemed to makes sense from our perspective.

Earlier I had said--and I think others agreed--that a 1 or 2-year deal would make sense because Richardson had some issues in NY. I hope all three years are not guaranteed.

Giving yesterday's contracts, I'm pretty sure Richardson got a lot of money. Like Diam said, it's not a question of if we overpaid, but by how much?

a pure 3T has been necessary (watch our game at Baltimore last year) ... this improves us immensely IMO

Malik Jackson is one year older, I would argue not as good and got 30m with 10m in guarantees.

I'd expect Richardson to get 45m and 15-25m in guarantees, which I would not be mad about.

the total number means less than guaranteed obviously

I have been of the opinion that we really needed a DT who could be effective in the run game. Ogunjobi is a fine pass rusher, but sometimes doesn't hold up well against the run. I think that Richardson makes a lot of sense for our DL.

Both of our DEs have had injury issues (although not major) the past two years and Ogbah is on his rookie deal. I'd say hold onto him. Plus he has played inside in the past too. We need a good rotation out there and we saw how losing Nassib last season was a detriment to that rotation, especially in the pass rush.

Word is that he has been trade bait since we traded for Vernon. Don't see us giving him away, but I imagine we can be talked into dealing him.

Gotcha, misread your post. My bad.

I was thinking 10+ so I wasn't too far off, but a little more than I was thinking. Considering the money these guys are getting, I think its a fair deal.

I wonder if his price came down over the last 24 hours? I'd bet yes

The longer you wait, typically the better the deal
