http://www.myfoxcleveland.com/myfox/page...mp;pageId=1.1.1Breaking News into the Fox 8 Newsroom... Cleveland Police tell Fox 8 News Cleveland Browns cornerback Leigh Bodden has been arrested outside of Cleveland Hopkins Airport. According to Cleveland Police Lt. Thomas Stacho, Bodden was taken into custody at 6:30 p.m. and was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Cleveland Hopkins Director Fred Szabo tells Fox 8 News Bodden was taken into custody outside the pick-up area in the lower deck of Hopkins after parking in a restricted area. Lt. Stacho tells Fox 8 News after being asked to remove his vehicle from the restricted area Bodden became involved in a verbal argument with police. After several minutes the incident escalated to the point where officers attempted to place Bodden under arrest. According to Stacho, Bodden resisted arrest before being taken into custody. Bodden is currently being held at the Justice Center downtown and has yet to post bond. Stacho says Bodden could be formally charged as soon as Wednesday night .

What a moron. I cannot believe how many people do not take seriously that you cannot sit in the pickup/dropoff area at an airport anymore. I travel often for work, and see this situation occur all of the time. How hard is it to loop back around and get the person you are looking for 2 minutes later? When a cop asks you to move at an airport, you do it. They are not in the mood to mess around in that situation.

I'm guessing the team will come down somewhat hard on him to show the Commish that we're not going easy on things like this.
And, the disorderly conduct thing isn't such a huge deal, it's the resisting arrest that could make it one.
Hopefully he sincerely apologizes, pays whatever fines and serves whatever punishment, and then gets back to football with no more incidents.

While the details will surely come out in the next 24 hours I gotta say I'm never surprised by stuff like this. Airport personnel have virtually no sense of humor. Couple that with the sense of entitlement most pro athletes have and it's a wonder stuff like this doesn't happen more often. My guess is that the Browns will let this slide, if they can, until at least after the Pitt game. After all, Bodden has never been in trouble before and he is entitled to due process. Plus, Pacman had to get in trouble about 6 times before he got yelled at and Mike Vick had to kill about 60 dogs before anyone noticed so Leigh oughta be safe for a game or two.......

I'd get mad too... and it's not just "circling the lot" for 2 minutes...at Cleveland Hopkins you gotta go around all crazy style...back like by 237 and get off back at the airpot...it's insane!!!! I wonder if he got into an argument with a police man or a security officer...oh well he should've listened to the po-po! I'd get scared to park in a restricted area anyway...he thinks he's cool or something...and if a cop yelled at me over and over, I'd probably pee my pants!

If it's a serious matter, which getting in trouble with the police always is, he shouldn't be able to "slide" just because it's the Steelers game. A lot of people on this board get really upset when things like that happen with high school or college sports. It should be the same for the NFL.
If anything, suspending Bodden for the season opener (if the team deems it necessary) would send an extremely strong message, IMO.
However, we should let this play out to see what the facts are. And, the fact that he has never gotten in trouble before should be a factor as well. But, he has to live with the consequences of his decision.

Hey, don't get too horribly upset. While I want Bodden in on 100% of the defensive snaps, the reality is that we didn't do too horrible without him for most of last year!

Sounds like they cut him some slack, since it took several minutes of arguing. You can only push cops so far, especially big city cops who are usually in no mood to be screwed with.

I bet the douche cops that arrested him were Pittsburgh fans. Honestly, there was no need for this to get out of hand. Cops are morons though--on a monumental level.
I'm not saying that football players should get a free pass. But I think that Ctown police officers probably got on him and hassled him. Thats what they do. They probably gave him the hard-nosed approach and he probably gave it right back.
Cops in Ctown are idiots, they always try to act tough.

According to WKYC ( link), he was driving his car in reverse and police ordered him to stop. I'm guessing that this is where the resisting arrest charge comes from. At least he didn't get the tazer like that guy from Cincinnati.

While I sympathize with Bodden because I hate picking people up at the airport as well, would you prefer these "idiots" who are trying to protect airports from terrorists let some dude break the rules and drive through backwards, resist arrest, and then set off a car bomb?
They probably had no idea who Bodden was, nor should it matter who he was. The rules exist for a reason and the police are there to make sure they are followed.

You can't be proud of that juvenile generality. You'll always have bad cops. Assertive personalities - cops must have assertive personalities - who have a badge can sometimes be power-tripping scum, but most police officers are good people.

Leigh, Leigh...don't you realize that you need to save your resistance for the Stoolers on Sunday. I realize you're jacked up for the game. But no need to let 'er loose on a Wednesday.
What in the world were you thinking? Time for some speedy and serious mea culpas. While you're at it, might as well call the commish and throw yourself on the mercy of the court. If nobody has mentioned it to you yet, Goodell doesn't like his football players showing off their jerk sides.
Get it together...and fast.

Sounds to me like he deserved to be arrested.
For once we had a guy rise out of the ashes on his way to being a Pro Bowl caliber player.
He really shows what he can do in '05.
I thought he looked great at the beginning of '06. Word out of camp was he was the best player on the d side of the ball. People around the league started taking notice.
Signs a nice contract and wallah...

The white zone if for the loading and unloading of passengers only. Maybe Bodden never saw Airplane. Not smart and I don't see him getting any major punishment but if we do then Holly gets an opportunity.

This is ridiculous. The guy backs up his car and gets arrested for it? Its not like he did damage or anything... sheesh. He might not have even heard them telling him to stop backing up, who knows. Stupid pigs, always harassing people that don't deserve it.

Here's a little more of the story... Browns cornerback Leigh Bodden arrested at Cleveland airport September 6, 2007 CLEVELAND (AP) -- Browns cornerback Leigh Bodden drove a sport utility vehicle in reverse down a one-way street outside an airport, became verbally abusive with police and was arrested Wednesday. Bodden, 25, refused to stop the vehicle when initially approached by an officer at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, said police Lt. Thomas Stacho. Bodden eventually pulled the vehicle to a curb, got out and walked toward an airport entrance, Stacho said. ADVERTISEMENT "He (Bodden) indicated he was there to pick up his people, whoever his people are," Stacho said. Bodden became verbally abusive with the officer, who called for police backup, Stacho said. Responding officers instructed Bodden to place his hands on a wall, which he did, but the situation became tense when the football player began to resist officers trying to place handcuffs on him, Stacho said. Bodden later complied with police and was taken to a city jail, where he remained Wednesday night. He was charged with aggravated disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, both misdemeanors. He also faces traffic charges of failing to produce a driver's license and driving the wrong way on a one-way street, Stacho said. A hearing in Cleveland Municipal Court was scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Thursday, Stacho said. Browns spokesman Bill Bonsiewicz said the team was aware of the incident and was still gathering facts. The team opens the 2007 season Sunday at home against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Bodden was limited to nine starts last season because of ankle problems and had offseason ankle surgery. He signed with the Browns as an undrafted free agent in 2003, and the club signed him to a four-year contract extension in 2005. Yahoo Sports If you ask me, this is a very minor offense and almost laughable...unless it interferes with his freedom to play in any games this season, of course! Seriously, I am disappointed. Gotta keep that temper in check! I'm curious to see how RAC's going to handle this one. The only other player who got in legal trouble while on the team (or trying to make the team, can't remember his name) was promptly dismissed...so I tend to think RAC will handle this with an iron fist, so to speak. But what about the NFL? He is a first-time offender and this is a pretty mild incident compared to some of the other trouble-makers in the league right now...

Man, this is really weird, I always thought Bodden was the soft spoken type. At least that's how he was with all his interviews and pressers. It's just hard to believe that he would do something like that or start it.
There has to be something more to this story we're not hearing.
Since when can someone be arrested for backing up their car.

That would be interesting. I know when I watched the video on David Boston's arrest I thought that while he seemed agitated he did not seem drunk. The officer even said he didn't think alcohol was involved. Then he arrests him anyway. Yes, the video, if there is one would be very interesting. But I still think that barring some other revelations he'll play on Sunday. Assuming he gets bailed out in time for practice today.....
