I am absolutely pro 2A, but I think forced gun ownership is whacked. People have just as much a right to not own a firearm as they do to have one. There was also a bill introduced to require handgun ownership.

Can you imagine arresting someone because they don't have an AR? "Alright, ma'm. License, registration, proof of insurance and your Bushmaster"

ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – A bill introduced in Missouri would require residents to own AR-15 guns.

Andrew McDaniel (R-Deering) introduced House Bill 1108 late last month. The bill would establish the McDaniel Militia Act, “which requires every person between 18 and 35 years of age who can legally possess a firearm to own an AR-15 and authorizes a tax credit for a purchase of an AR-15.”

According to the proposed bill, any person who qualifies as a resident on Aug. 28, 2019 who does not own an AR-15 would have a year to purchase one. In addition, anyone who becomes a state resident after Aug. 28, 2019 would have no later than a year to purchase an AR-15.

The bill was introduced for the first time and read on Feb. 27.

In addition, McDaniel filed a bill that would require every person 21 years of age and older to own a handgun if they are legally able to. That bill, House Bill 1052, was introduced two days prior to House Bill 1108.

According to the Missouri House of Representatives website, neither bill is currently scheduled for a hearing or on a House calendar.

Next up, a bill that requires everyone eat meat for the beneficial protein.

This ‘lib’ grew up with a rifle range in my backyard. A range over 100 meters. An AR-15 is a toy gun compared to what I grew up shooting.

What did you grow up shooting?

Everything from black powder guns, WW2 bolt action rifles and semi autos like the M1, to .30-06, 22-250, and many many others. All kinds of hand guns from 9mm to 357.
My stepfather was a collector.
I grew up on 5acres in the country. There’s a small valley on our land. The old man bult a railroad tie and earthen embankment on the far side of the valley. We could step out the back door and sit at a picnic table and shoot high powered rifles, with a barrel bipod for stability, the length of our land. And we did. I spent countless hours with the old man putting holes in targets from long range. I’m a damn good shot... or at least I use to be.

The government should not mandate we buy anything, whether that be guns or insurance.

Ultimately, in a round about way, I agree that medical insurance shouldn’t be mandated... universal healthcare should be.

It would probably be like Kennesaw Georgia. (Not too far from me). Where they require every household to own a gun, but then list a whole bunch of exemptions. So you really dont have to if you dont want to.

A few years back a couple of thieves crossed over from (anti gun) Maryland into Virginia to rob a store at gunpoint.

They came in fast and shot the owner in the neck.

The Virginia owner pulled his own gun, (Va is pro open carry and concealed carry), and killed both men dead.

The next day after checking out of the hospital, the owner returned to open his store. The Press was waiting in droves.

He simply looked at the cameras saying in a raspy voice, "This is Virginia, in Virginia we shoot back".

That's what happened in my area about 20 years ago. Some moron tried to rob a gun shop. He got shot 8 times from 4 different directions.

Because health insurance is to protect you... car insurance is to protect everybody else... it's also to protect your lender until your car is paid for, at which point you can drop that part of the insurance if you so choose.

You having health insurance protects me from paying increased prices on services to cover your uninsured self when you get hurt.
You have enough uninsured and it absolutely effects all of us.

In the beginning mandated auto insurance was presented by exactly the point you are making.

That uninsured motorists are causing insured motorists to pay the cost of the uninsured motorist. But that was done at a time when mandated healthcare was not an issue.

As per usual, once something contrary to a portion of society comes along, the goal posts are moved.

The uninsured, not a damn thing single payer would not fix and save us all money. It's not about the money or even who's covered... It's about protecting the insurance middlemen and Big Pharma.
