They nailed Madison county. Cappy's is the best pizza you will find between NYC and Chicago. "Truly Italian".

I agree its not that good at all to me.
You will have to take a short ride up to Thurston and get some from Pizza Ria's Too. Has won best pizza in central ohio for a couple of years now by nbc4.
A little pricey but man is it good. drive from grove city area just to go get it about every other month.

I lived in Bowling Green for years and years. It was my serogate ‘home town’. Was never a fan of Paglias Pizza. Much preferred Myles, which is now closed, sadly, or Pisanello’s.

Longo's is very good.

For chain-store type pizza I always go to Little Caesars. I love their pizza.... One day I'm sure I will lose my taste for it, but then it's just on to the next place.

Love pizza.

I have had Little Caesar's pizza twice in my lifetime. Both times I was in a hurry, and stopped in for their 5 minute pizza, or whatever it was way back then. The second time, I was in a hurry and figured I'd give them a 2nd chance.

It was cheap, but the flavor ... well ... it was cheap.

It was atrocious. Worse pizza I ever had, and I have never gone back to one since.

Maybe your local store is better than the local one here.

I will say that their pretzel pizza looks good though. I don't know if it's good enough to take chance #4 on, though.

I used to really like Pizza Hut's pan pizza, but over the last few years its like they forgot how to make crust. It used to be a good mix of crispy and chewy, but now its bland and unsubstantial, like Wonder Bread.

They definitely hit the 2 from my area.

Benny's in Marysville is a great place to stop if you're on your way to Columbus; large outdoor seating area and delicious food! Home-made root beer is tasty (especially in a Frost Top; mixed with vanilla vodka).

600 Downtown in Bellefontaine is amazing too. Baked in a 600 degree oven. They have the best garlic knots I've ever eaten.

If they have a special and I decide to get some, I definitely have to add one of their "crust flavors" to the pan pizzas. "Hut Favorite" is usually my go to.

Not sure what they said about Stark County because I couldn't get it to load past Huron on my chromebook due to the ads and plug-ins.

I usually just go with Romeo's or Pizza Hut because they are convenient and it's hard to find bad pizza (meh pizza is a thing, though.)

I did avoid the mayo and squid pizza in Japan, though. Never thought about it at the time, but looking at it now there could be a sailor joke in there.

This brings back fond memories.

Pizza Hut's Pan Pizza was my favorite type of pizza back in... maybe the 80s?

From what I remember:

1) Not overtly greasy (no dripping grease),
2) Easily eaten with one hand,
3) Thick cheesy,
4) Even the outer crust was delicious.

I agree. Pizza Hut used to be one of the very best. Now it's just average, at best. I'm glad I;m not the only one who noticed that.

When I was in college I delivered pizza for Pizza Hut. The tips were pretty good.

The first 2 months or so were awesome in regards to: If a pizza was screwed up, it was put out for drivers to eat. I ate a lot. For about 2 months.

Then I quit eating. You get sick of it. It was several years before I could eat PH pizza again.

While I do think Pizza Hut changed their recipe for their crust, at least part of my "pizza malaise" is because I get it delivered and that will never be as good as actually going to the restaurant and having it brought to your table still very hot. Pizza Hut used to be a fun outing when we would go there and split a pitcher of beer with our Pan Supreme. In recent years we found a place that had a crabmeat pizza with broccoli in a buttercream-garlic sauce that was really good (even if the "crab" was really Pollock). Upper Crust (Cleveland) was the name of the place. The place was too far to deliver so we had to pickup, but my wife convinced them to half-bake it and give her detailed instructions on how to finish it in our oven ... it was so good.

Earlier I mentioned Myro's, in Bryan Ohio.

If anyone is ever in Bryan, their Roast Beef pizza is awesome!!!

And 1 nice thing about that place, they have a buffet. If you order that (the buffet)first thing they do is ask if you have any special pizza you want. You tell them "roast beef pizza" or any other kind, they get it made pronto, and before they put it on the buffet, they'll come out to your table and say "Your choice will be on the buffet in about 1 minute."

Roast beef pizza sounds good. My mother's Sunday spaghetti sauce had beef stew meat in it, and it would be so good after simmering in Mom's sauce all day.

Grew up in Youngstown and do like Wedgewood, though I like Belleria more. There was a place at the end of the block I lived on that was called Chris and Mary's, then became Angelo's. That was really good. I remember once stopping by to grab some lunch for takeout and saw something new on their menu, a pizza burger. I got one to go and was surprised when I unwrapped it at home. It was a nice, thick burger but instead of a bun they used two slices of their square pizza slices. It was incredible.

I am now in Delaware County, yards from Franklin County. I have not tried the place mentioned for either in the article. Usually for pizza we'll hit one of the chains. We like Jet's deep dish. Donato's is ok when in the mood for thin crust. A couple of bars nearby have fairly good pizza - Shorty's, Average Joe's, Gallo's Tap Room.

We do have a Giordano's here, the deep dish place from Chicago. Amazing.

Pretty much the way I feel. I will say, Dominos has pretty much overtaken Pizza Hut. Pizza Joes is about the only one I claim... because there is one three minutes from my house and I love their pepperoni rolls and Vegetable pizza.

I've been making my own pizza, bro. It's pretty easy and it blows the doors off of anything from a chain.

My cousin bought a house that has a smoke/woodburning pizza oven just off the porch. It's a real pain to fire up just for 1 pizza........but when he makes them - hand made, home made - crust and sauce? Pretty tasty.

Longo's. thumbsup Good stuff.

Grew up on Longo's pizza from the 306 and Lake Shore shop. Then again back then there wasn't frozen pizza's or as much competition in the 60's, 70's as there is today.

I completely forgot about LaVilla, and Tangier. (though Tangier does tend to run up and down with their quality)

I live across the Ohio river from Lawrence county, and agree that the best pizza in the county is Giovanni's. They are a medium sized chain headquartered in Ashland, KY that has always been my favorite. I've worked at a Giovanni's 3 different times in my life, and have never gotten tired of eating it. It will always be the standard by which all other pizza's are judged.

They call it "Dayton Style Pizza". It has a thin crust with ample toppings which is cut into bite size squares and is some of the best pizza I've ever eaten. It's one of the things I miss most about the Dayton area. I haven't found anything around Nashville that can compare to it.

I highly recommend that if you're in the Dayton Area you give Marion's a try.

I agree a friend of mine kept telling me how good it was a few years ago
She said we gotta go there
Ive went there every visit since then lol
Here in Marion (where they should be) i like a lil local spot called Carnavellies

They had a Gionino's in Canton a while back that was always great. We got it every couple months. I'm surprised to hear some are bad.

I know its bigger than a country but in Columbus, this is what I'd say, mostly in Franklin country.

-Tyler's Bakery and Pizzeria
-Tommy's
-Katie's
-Ange's
-Gahanna Pizza Plus
-Stadz

I belong to the Pizza connoisseur of Columbus group on Facebook and always looking to try out new spots. The only rule they have in that group is that it can't be a chain.

Well, you know what they say about pizza ... pizza is like sex; even when its bad, its not THAT bad. Or wait, maybe I have that backwards and that's what they say about sex? Eh, who cares ... bad pizza is better than tuna casserole.

Anchovies, on the other hand ... should never touch pizza.

Let's just say that I still remember the phone number for Sunrise Inn, and I have not lived in the area in 35+ years.
