Corey Kluber is already one of the best pitchers in Cleveland Indians history.

He’s a Hall of Fame lock. (I’m pretty sure 2 Cy Young Awards is a punched ticket regardless of seasons or innings pitched)

Right there with Bob Feller, Bob Lemon, Sam McDowell & Heinie Berger (Go Heinie!)

He’s going in to this year at his peak. He is poised to have another fantastic season.

If you’re an Indians fan you should cherish every game...nay...every pitch he makes this year.

Naquin in the three hole. Yikes.

Runs are going to be tough to come by this year. Hopefully, I'm wrong.

Before he got hurt, Naquin was rounding into a top of the order type hitter. His rookie year was great, until he wore down late. Last year he was hitting well, until he got hurt again.

If he stays healthy, he will be a quality hitter.

Eh, I hope he can become a decent hitter and finally start hitting the high fastball and curveball.

With such a low OBP I do not think he was contending for a top of the order spot.

Hopefully he can finally stay healthy. This seems like a make or break year for him.

Here you go. It's only $20 and you get the whole year.

Come on.

Bourbon commercials during game on MLB.com showing people working and drinking bourbon on ice.

It’s good to hydrate while you’re working.

They’re not drinking the same bourbon I was.

Byron Buxton ends Kluber's no-hit bid with one out double in sixth. Buxton advances to third, but Kluber gets Jorge Polanco to pop out for third out. Kluber had retired 16 of 17 Twins before Buxton's double.

Where is the near talent in the minors?

The Tribe is a small market salary hampered team. They must rely upon developing players in the minors to succeed. They need a steady pipeline of talent coming up.

Where is it?

Outside of Lindor and Ramirez where is this lineup going to score? Those two great players are going to get pitched around.

No power. 1st, LF, RF are power positions. The outfield is horrible. Kipnis, Perez, and Santana?

Where are the runs going to come from? Hanley Rameriz? Please.

The starters are great. But unless they have great prospects ready to play soon. The Indians will have to move a starter in order to upgrade position players.

The Central maybe poor enough to win because we have the starting pitching but post season? Nothing will happen with this lineup.

I'm a Giants fan and I felt for Corey Kluber like I did Madison Bumgarner I know the Giants are average at best at the plate and right now so are the Indians and no matter how much pitching you have it is hard to win without scoring runs ...

Madison Bumgarner 7 IP 5 Hits 2 ER 9 SO 1 BB Lost 2-0

Corey Kluber 7 IP 4 Hits 2 ER 5 SO 1 BB Lost 2-0

Geesh. You guys overreact so well, it has to be your biggest talent.

No, it's a case of "selective reading comprehension".

My quote:

Quote:
Tyler Naquin did not look like he belonged in the majors.

Naquin had 3 plate appearances and weakly struck out all three times. (OK his last plate appearance should have been a walk - but a good hitter will swing at a close pitch with 2 strikes)

Even against the Cy Young award winning pitcher, an average hitter (who strikes out a lot) is likely to put the ball in play ~70% of the time.

Tyler Naquin did not look like he belonged in the majors.

Hey, I hope he bats .300 with 20 homers this year.

If he's batting .210 with 100 plate appearances and 50 strikeouts on April 30th, I will change it to:

Quote:
Tyler Naquin does not look like he belonged in the majors.

I used belonged here because he'll be gone if that's the case.

At the very least he'll be back in the minors.

I'm here to help.

I'd rather see Greg Allen than Naquin, but even if Naquin is Tito's choice to start there's no justification for hitting him in the 3-hole. His bat is strictly 7-8-9 material. I don't understand why they didn't keep Oscar Mercado instead of Luplow or Naquin. I'm aware they are probably stashing Mercado for service-time reasons, but these are some lean times when you look at the lack of quality or depth in our outfield.

That may come to pass. But even if it does, he will always have...

Indians have 4 hits and 26 strikeouts in the first 16 innings of the 2019 season. Jose Ramirez tried to bunt against the shift in the first inning and couldn't get one down. Jordan Luplow pinch hit for Jake Bauers in the 7th, with one out and Hanley Ramirez at 1st base. At the very least, you want him to move that runner along to scoring position, but he struck out. Situational hitting is dead; everybody is swinging for the fences every at bat. Someone should approach our batting coach and say "Remind me again why we pay you?".
