I just run across this story. Jim Mora Jr contracted foot and mouth disease this week. Let's just cross this guy off any coaching list for the Browns. Mora suffering from foot and mouth disease By STEVE WYCHE The Associated Press Published on: 12/16/06 Falcons coach Jim Mora wants out? At a time when his team is in the throes of a playoff chase? To coach a college team in Seattle? On the eve of the Falcons' biggest game of the season, against the Dallas Cowboys, Mora found himself embroiled in a self-inflicted national controversy. Mora's comments to a Seattle radio station ? including: "I don't care if we're in the middle of a playoff run; I'm packing my stuff and coming back to Seattle" ? landed the third-year coach in the Buckhead office of team owner Arthur Blank by Friday afternoon.

He's been in the league what, 6 years now? and he's still a running back who can pass to me. It's true that his recievers suck but maybe if he wouldn't have signed a $120 million(not an exact figure) deal he would've been able to surround himself with talent.

http://www.ajc.com/sports/content/sports/falcons/stories/2006/12/15/1215moraradio.htmlThat there is the radio link courtesy of KBR radio in Seattle. He is a pretty good joker. One of the radio dudes is his old room mate from college, so he could've been joking, I guess. I still think he went a little wacko, but hey, it is what it is.

OR if NFL teams weren't greedy and shared the purse a little $120 million wouldn't matter b/c the owner would pay whatever it took to win. I will never blame a player for taking all the cash he can. Both sided are greedy but only one side has no gurenteed (sp) contract. If we expect star players to take less cash to help the team with the NFLs own self inflicted salary cap then there needs to be gurenteed contracts.

During the Browns Atl. game, I noticed that the owner was trying to talk to Mora during the game, while Mora is trying to coach a team. Mora just walked away with a WTF look on his face. A couple weeks later, I caught the end of the conversation of Salsbury talking about the owner being on the sidelines and saying how the owner needs to be off of the sideline and up in his owners seat so Mora can do his job. The owner just stands there in his suit and tie with his fingers crossed like Mr. Burns. Why mess with the coach in the middle of the drive? He had Mora away from the rest of the team. Mora had to walk down the field during the drive, put his headset back on, and get back to watching the game. It might have been a joke but he might also be getting a message across to the owner to just let him do his job.
