I definitely wouldn't take a Wr in round #2 or #3. But if a really good Wr (Hakeem Butler, Deebo Samuel, Parris Campbell) drops to round 4, I wouldn't take issue with drafting one. We have OBJ and Landry. Two top notch Wr's. Calloway, A 2nd year guy with lots of potential. Higgins hasn't signed his tender yet. He will probably be back but he may not. Even if he is, he is a solid guy. Nothing more. He will never be anything more than Wr3 quality.
Will they all stay healthy? How long will they stay with us? It wouldn't hurt to have another young Wr to develop. Especially if they can return kicks. I could see Dorsey selecting a WR in round 4. With the talent that you mentioned and others also.

I don't see drafting one at all, but sure, if Campbell or Butler is there in the 4th, I could live with that....though I wouldn't be all that happy.
But as Vers said, we don't know what Dorsey has planned. Maybe he flips Odell after 1 season for 3 1st rounders.
If everybody had like minds, we would never learn. GM Strong

He's been on a big-time tear. Cutting Britt on day 1 was a good first day. And it's gotten better since. But if he takes a WR before - I'll say the fourth round, to allow him some leeway - he will be scrutinized. If its a steal...then I don't mind. and this is me one who is told that I hate WRs...lol

I've been reading more about the draft and there are a good number of safeties and CB from the 2nd to the 5th rounds. I said it earlier I feel we will go heavy on D in the draft. Maybe JD has not signed any FA for the secondary because he feels he can get better talent in the draft.

The pick is in, you protect your most valued piece, and help the run game. I’d like a Joe Thomas, add stability to the offensive line.

CLEVELAND.COM NFL Mock Draft 2019: A roundup of Browns targets in the second round By Scott Patsko, cleveland.com | Posted March 22, 2019 at 05:30 AM | Updated March 22, 2019 at 02:37 PM CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Browns don’t have a first-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. The 17th selection now belongs to the Giants. So mock drafts have become a little less interesting for Browns fans. But there are some hardcore mockers out there who wade into the second round, when the Browns get their first pick (No. 49 overall). To give you an idea of the players who might be available at that point, I’ve created a position-by-position list based off a few deep mock drafts. Each position includes a breakdown of players mocked within five picks above the Browns, any pick targeted for the Browns, and players mocked below the Browns in remainder of the second round. Sorry, no quarterbacks or running backs on this list. I stuck to positions that are either obvious needs, or positions that have been in the discussion since free agency began. Mock drafts used for this exercise include those by Ryan Wilson (CBSSports.com), Chris Trapasso (CBSSports.com) and Luke Easterling (DraftWire). All were published after the Browns traded their first-round pick to the Giants. LINEBACKER Below Terrill Hanks, New Mexico State Blake Cashman, Minnesota The Browns released Jamie Collins prior to free agency, creating a question at strong-side linebacker. Browns GM John Dorsey was asked about the position during a conference call last week and noted how good a season Genard Avery had. Avery, a fifth-round pick in 2018, was primarily used as an edge rusher last season, but was noted for his versatility coming out of college. SAFETY Above Taylor Rapp, Washington Deionte Thompson, Alabama Browns pick Juan Thornhill, Virginia Below Johnathan Abram, Mississippi State Deionte Thompson, Alabama Taylor Rapp, Washington Wilson has Thornhill going to the Browns, and wrote, “Thornhill had a quietly effective 2018 campaign and he used the combine as an exclamation point on the season. He ran a 4.42 40, had a 44-inch vertical, and that, coupled with his game film, makes him a Day 2 pick, and perhaps even a first-rounder.” Of the others listed, Rapp shows up most often, including twice after the Browns pick. Rapp is known for his physical play and tackling ability, and was moved between linebacker, strong safety and free safety for the Huskies. CORNERBACK Browns pick Justin Layne, Michigan State Rock Ya-Sin, Temple Below Julian Love, Notre Dame Trayvon Mullen, Clemson Joejuan Williams, Vanderbilt Trapasso has the Browns selecting Layne, and wrote, “The Browns roster is now pretty loaded. It could use another corner opposite Denzel Ward. Layne is a long, athletic, feisty defender.” Easterling likes the Browns taking Ya-Sin. An earlier DraftWire scouting report noted: “Overall, good size, and agility paired with competitive toughness and spatial awareness will make Ya-Sin a starter in a heavy zone-scheme. He’s a pure cover corner who should produce right away, once he can improve in man coverage, tackling, and a few other areas.” Of the others listed, Love and Mullen both show up three times after the Browns pick. OFFENSIVE TACKLE Above Yodny Cajuste, West Virginia Below Greg Little, Ole Miss Kaleb McGary, Washington David Edwards, Wisconsin Wilson has the Dolphins taking Cajuste one pick before the Browns. Doug Lesmerises explained recently why the Browns should consider the West Virginia tackle. I did the same with Greg Little, who many mock drafts had as a first-rounder prior to the combine. But with Robinson re-signed this offseason and Kendall Lamm acquired in free agency, this doesn’t seem like a position to target in the second round. Of the others listed, McGary shows up three times after the Browns' pick. TIGHT END Below Jace Sternberger, Texas A&M Irv Smith Jr., Alabama The Browns signed former Chiefs tight end Demetrius Harris in free agency, and still have David Njoku, Seth DeValve and Pharaoh Brown on the roster. It doesn’t seem likely that the Browns will target a tight end in the second round. DEFENSIVE TACKLE Above Jeffery Simmons, Mississippi State Below Dre'Mont Jones, Ohio State Khalen Saunders, Western Illinois Jeffery Simmons, Mississippi State Charles Omenihu, Texas Lesmerises profiled Jones, a St. Ignatius grad, during the combine. The Browns signed Sheldon Richardson in free agency and tendered an offer to restricted free agent Trevon Coley and re-signed Carl Davis. But the draft is deep at defensive line, and Simmons, who shows up twice just ahead of the Browns in the second round, is seen by many as a first-round talent who will drop due to off-field concerns. EDGE RUSHER Above Zach Allen, Boston College Christian Miller, Alabama Chase Winovich, Michigan Below Jachai Polite, Florida Jaylon Ferguson, Louisiana Tech Chase Winovich, Michigan Like he did with defensive tackle, Browns GM John Dorsey addressed edge rusher last week, acquiring Olivier Vernon in trade. The Browns still have Emmanuel Ogbah, as well as 2018 third-round pick Chad Thomas. But, again, the draft is deep at defensive line. Allen is listed twice just above the Browns in the second round, and Ferguson twice below them. Polite is seen by some as a first-round talent. WIDE RECEIVER Above Marquise Brown, Oklahoma Deebo Samuel, South Carolina Riley Ridley, Georgia Below N'Keal Harry, Arizona State Deebo Samuel, South Carolina Parris Campbell, Ohio State Dillon Mitchell, Oregon Andy Isabella, UMass Emanuel Hall, Missouri The second round is heavy on wide receivers in the three mock drafts I’m using here. The Browns seem set at the position after acquiring Beckham. They also signed Jaelen Strong earlier this year. Doug Lesmerises explained recently why the Browns should consider drafting Isabella. INTERIOR OFFENSIVE LINE Above Erik McCoy, C, Texas A&M Below Erik McCoy, C, Texas A&M Lamont Gaillard, C, Georgia Elgton Jenkins, C, Mississippi State Austin Corbett, the No. 33 overall pick in 2018, is expected to take over at right guard for Kevin Zeitler (traded to the Giants). The Browns signed guard/center Eric Kush and guard Erik Witzmann in free agency. https://expo.cleveland.com/sports/g66l-2...cond-round.html

I'm on board for Chauncey G-Johnson @ 49, or any good LB that falls, ie D'Andre Walker of Georgia.

Before free agency I said D line. Now I am thinking the fastest LB available. I really would base the pick a lot on speed.

If all of the DT's with a first round grade are gone and Simmons has also been drafted then I'm probably going to take Ranell Wren. I can come back with the 80th pick and still get a decent safety. Maybe Hooker,Savage or Jaquan Johnson.

J/C - The more I read around and watch snippets, the more I like Winovich as an edge guy. man, he plays RELENTLESSLY and he also tested well at the combine (as an affirmation). I love guys who play like every play is the last they will play. This dude plays like that. Love his attitude.
I may have a type of football player as I also really like Long out of WVU as he plays the same way. You can't teach being hard nosed, tough or aggressive but you can coach it. Those are the kinds of players I want on my D.

He can be used in the slot, at FS, and even SS, although the first two roles is what the teams above us will be drafting for. Not so unlike the role that the less talented BBC played in our defense last season. The projections on the Safeties this year are really all over the place from rounds 1-4 I think because the position is so scheme dependent. Darnell Savage has gone from a 4th round prospect, to being mentioned as a late fist round pick. Abram is likewise either loved or hated by media scouts. What our plans are ... who can say, but I wouldn't rule out us not drafting a Safety until the 5th round looking for that diamond in the rough.

Considering that we need 3 to play the majority of the snaps ... we have nada for depth there.

For me I think the BPA will be a stud Safety there are several that will be available and Safety is not a position taken often. Safeties, Interior OL and Inside LB are not taken often. So we can get maybe the 2nd or 3rd best of those.
I'm hoping a RT will be there or Safety. Possibly an ILB We need depth or competition for starting at all those positions. So we should have one of the better ones BPA for those positions when we pick.
So I'm hoping from this list one will be a Brown: 1. Mack Wilson ILB 2. Greg Little OT 3. Nasir Addely Safety 4. Chris Lindstrom RG 5. Chauncy Gardner-Johnson Safety 6. Dalton Risner OT 7. Deionte Thompson Safety 8. Taylor Rapp Safety 9. David Edwards OT
Those not in any order and I think that one will be there for our #49 and still one will be available for our #80 pick.
So two of those players will be Browns hopefully.

DL or fast ILB even with all the fee agency stuff I am sticking with these postilions,. I dont know players well enough to suggest a specific player. Im sure Dorsey will pick someone that starts day 1.

CG-J could Possibly be on the board @49 and would take him over Thompson who I think will go much later than the Draft illuminate would have us all think. He will probably still be on the board @80. CG-J could probably come in and become our slot CB-3/FS. (BBC) The signing of Burnett should not preclude us from drafting a Saftey imo. The other two DB/S prospects that I would concider in our range would be Hooker and Thornhill. --Taylor Rapp is off my boad based on his lack of speed (4.74 - 4.77 :40) for the position. All of the above would be trumped by the availability either CBs' Justin Layne or Julian Love.

Hard to say. At this point I'm still assuming we will move one of our 3 fifth round picks and Duke Johnson at some point or in some capacity. So 7 picks would be left. 7th round I would take a flyer on a developmental lineman possibly regardless of what comes before as Robinson is only on a one year pact and our depth was just filled with street free agents (essentially). Chidi Okeke-OT- Tennessee State 6th round I'm still wanting that back up QB! Gardner Minsheww II- QB- Washington State 5th round...hmmm...the CB class has depth but no real day one starters, and you can't have too many BD's, so for our second 5th rounder (after we trade one), a flyer on another guy. Corey Ballentine- CB- Washburn Hmmm, the other 5th, a guy with a sketchy reputation? In my opinion, the strength of the DT class will cause some guys to fall at some point so: Trysten Hill- DT- Central Florida and this is where it gets kinda dodgy. The depth at DT and CB makes it easy to see those positions falling and late round guys are always developmental. What positions are best to target where in this draft? I keep coming back to TE's and Linebackers in the middle rounds here (off the ball linebackers anyway). Round 4 Kahale Warring- TE- San Diego St Round 3 Germaine Pratt- OLB- North Carolina St Soooo... I still think round 2 is the sweet spot for a safety... Chauncey Gardner-Johnson- Florida. At least my affections aren't fickle.

So two of those players will be Browns hopefully. Dalton Risner should be long gone by the time we make our Pick. Greg Little would be in our range (I have him going to the Bengals in the 2nd). He has the talent, but I am sour on him after whatching his tape. He needs to finish his blocks, both in pass protection and in the run game. The bottom line is that I like OL that look for work and help their OL mates. I would love to get a good prospect from the OL in the Draft, because I too see a need to reload, with two projected starters becoming FAs' after this season. I like OG Chris Lindstrom, but I think that a better option would be Eric McCoy who is less of a prospect @OG, but a better option @OC. I prefer that we take DB @49, but I would not be unhappy adding talent to our OL either. We are all excited about our weapons on offense this season, but none of that is possible if our OL is not good, which is why I would not rule out Kaleb McGary, who I would like to be available for pick 80, but he really turns some heads at the Sr. Bowl and will probably come off the board by the 3rd round. I would be targeting LB in the 4th round, which is when I see many starting to come off the board.

Dorsey will not pick an offensive lineman with the second round pick.
That would mean he was WRONG about Austin Corbett and he was NOT WRONG about Austin Corbett.

That would mean he was WRONG about Austin Corbett and he was NOT WRONG about Austin Corbett. Why would selecting an OL in the 2nd round be a knock on Corbett? I don't see it that way at all. Corbett moves to RG and I would expect that said OL would be a selection with the future @OT or @OC in mind. None of the guys we brought in are long term development for the future imo.

Did you not notice the big offensive lineman haul in free agency by Dorsey?
Maybe Corbett isn't the OL Dorsey thought he was.
Your points are sound.
If he does draft a OL, I will be confused, but I will not be negative about it.
I still trust Dorsey.

There are five positions along the OL. Drafting one of those positions last year does not address the other four.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

I think that Dorsey is still very high on Corbett. I don't understand why he shouldn't be. Starting as a Rookie on the OL is not a prerequisite to success, especially with two pro bowl OGs' on the roster, there was no reason to not go with proven experiance last season. Yes, I love the fact that we added some depth, but I don't think that any are long term prospects to be one of our best 5 guys. The fact that our Center and LT can become FA after this season, should lend itself to having an eye on the future there, this year. Maybe we have plans to extend some contracts like with JC. Tretter. (We need clarification here.) I would be very displeased to have to see us go through another debacle @OC, such as we experienced with Mack. Besides ... who would have predicted that Corbett would be the pick @33 last year? We don't know their Draft plans, so all we can do is try and cover the bases. Personally my preference would be defense with our first selection, but I don't think that I can rule out an OL pick either. Once all the picks are made, only then can we know what their plans where.

yeah Little is not really my choice just his ranking in the draft might have him available. Risner think someone will take him for Center???
Lindstrom I'm thinking RG and Corbett who worked at Center last season will be our Center.
Who are the two FA? Tretter and Hubbard???

The Browns get one player in this draft, (only one) who is tall, skinny type tall, with wide shoulders and a shining light on his helmut, the letter B in his name maybe. These my thoughts maybe December of last year, on considering the 1st round and how I'd feel after the 3 days were over.

The Browns get one player in this draft, (only one) who is tall, skinny type tall, with wide shoulders and a shining light on his helmut, the letter B in his name maybe. These my thoughts maybe December of last year, on considering the 1st round and how I'd feel after the 3 days were over. Who are you talking about, and why must it remain mystery?

Odell Beckham Jr, perhaps?
People ask me what I do in spring when there's no football. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for fall
