what a surprising win LOL

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."

Sexton has been playing better since Kevin's return to the lineup. His March stats look better compared to his Dec and Jan stats, but that is a bit expected for a rookie. The mid-winter months can be tough for anyone, especially a rookie on a bad team.

I think we're locked into the bottom three, unless Chicago loses out and we win a few. It would be nice to add another young piece. As I mentioned in the other NBA thread, we'd probably be the 10-11 seed had Kevin been healthy and we weren't also dumping salary too. Not like we're going to contend for a championship any time soon, but it would be kind of cool to make a playoff run next season.

We've had our fair share of bad owners in Cleveland sports history, however, Dolan might be pushing to be one of the worst owners ever. Did anyone see this exchange?

TMZ Link - Fan tells JD to "Sell the team" and get booted from MSG, possibly for good

I was shocked he didn't just walk by and pretend he didn't hear the guy. Also, he told him that it wasn't an opinion, which it is. The fan thinks the team would be better off without JD as the owner, which I think most would agree. Then, JD shoots back with a comment about watching the games from home from now on.

I don't think anyone knows if he's banned forever, but this seems awfully petty for an NBA owner to be involved in. It's not like the fan yelled, "You suck Dolan! Go jump off a bridge! You're the worst owner in sports!".

An MSG spokesperson told TMZ, "Our policy is and will continue to be that if you are disrespectful to anyone in our venues, we will ask you not to return." I'm wondering, how is that disrespectful? Sure, there are some underlying inference that he's a bad owner in the comment, but it's not like he's wrong.

After the incident with the fan antagonizing Russell Westbrook, the Jazz owner, Gail Miller, spoke out. Good for her...

anyone see where Jeannie Buss almost traded lebron at deadline to get away from his representation. Lebron/Paul realized real quick they aren't anything special to LA and they won't put up with the crap they got away with other places.. If they have a rough start next year..I'd almost guarantee lebron will be traded. He's at that point in his career he wouldn't really be worth that much in a trade. Alot riding on this offseason from LA.. This whole deal could just blow up in their faces.. I really think they need to fire Johnson and get an actual GM in

It takes two to tango and teams don't value James the way they did a few years ago... so I'm not sure he'll be moved. But yes, things are different in LA, LeBron and Rich are accustomed to just snapping their fingers and getting exactly what they want.

J/C

We have seen it over and over now, that players just do not want to play with Lebron. He is a good person, I am not saying that. He has done a lot for this city and for kids all over. That does not mean he is not an arrogant, pain in the butt, that is hard headed, stubborn, and hard to play with.

I am glad the Lakers are struggling, and honestly - I think Lebron is at a point in his career he doesn't care. He moved there not for basketball, but for his Empire. Basketball is 2nd in to LBJ now, and he will never win again because of that.

Two big problems with Lebron now: His age and his contract. He's 34! I was actually surprised at that. Was thinking he was 32. He's done incredibly well keeping himself in shape. Most of the other guys in his draft class are already shells of themselves, granted they are a little bit older. But there aren't a whole lot of success stories of guys dominating the league after age 32. Most of them are stories of them fighting off injuries, as we are starting to see this year. The other biggie is the contract. I believe he has the 4th largest contract in the NBA right now. Something around ~$39 million a year. That's not an easy contract to trade for. You have to match contracts and get fairly close. A team would have to take out some major pieces of their existing roster to make that happen.

Agree 100%. Can't fight father time forever and that is a huge contract.

I read this morning that although he does not have a "no trade clause" there is language that the team he is traded to will have to give him a 15% bump in pay!

The race to secure a bottom three spot took a hit tonight, but the Bulls and Suns play each other tonight, so it kind of evens out.

Sexton with 6 very good games in a row.

Well, another win. That outcome was expected with Brogdon and Mirotic out with injuries and then the Bucks resting Antetokounmpo. We just have to hope the Bulls win tonight too.

cant say i'm excited for these meaningless wins...keep winning and ensure your permanent mediocrity. Just stupid..tank and make sure you say in bottom 3. I will say sexton has been ballin out last few weeks. Still alot of holes in his game but I think theres something to work with there with the right coach to develop him. I actually think we have a pretty decent team when healthy. Just need to get some more scoring and defense in draft and we are positioned to do that.

Tomorrow's game will be a key outcome. As of this moment, the Bulls are ahead by 1.5 games with us having a game in hand (we have 10 games left, the Bulls 9).

If we lose, which we should because it's not a back-to-back for the Clippers and they are fighting for playoff positioning, we're 2 back with 9 to play. And since the Bulls won the season series, even if they went 0-9 to finish the season, we'd have to go 3-6 to pass them. I don't see us winning 3 of the last nine AND the Bulls winning zero.

Colin Sexton has really come on these last few games. He broke the Cavs record for most consecutive 20 point games in a rookie season with 7 (I believe), and the most since Tim Duncan did it as a rookie. He's also shooting nearly 42% from 3pt distance, which is really good. The only other rookie over 40% is Landry Shamet. He won't win rookie if the year, but like Baker Mayfield, he's starting to put himself into the conversation.

i believe sexton is probably the second or third best rookie right now. problem is the gap between 1st (luka) and the rest is so massive they probably could have given him the award at the ASB

It's not just a coincidence, but since Kevin's return, Colin has played generally better. That's obvious for even the most casual sports fan, you know, bring back people from injury and the guys struggling will play better. Just for Colin, I think it was a lot to ask for him to take control of a team with Kevin, TT, JR and everyone else that was traded or injured and still play well (not to mention the fact Lebron left too). Plus, he's playing 70 games instead of the 20-30 he played last year. This is why rookies fail at an alarming rate (pressure to be a star, playing against the best competition, playing on bad teams, playing more games than they did in college, etc).

I know we won't be a Finals team for a long time, maybe ever again in my life, but this team could be a 3-4 seed in a few years if we get this next draft right.

If Kevin can stay healthy, which is a big IF, but if he can, if he's the #3 behind Colin and playerX, that can be a good team. I don't think Kevin is a #1 or #2 right now, mostly because he can't stay on the court. If we use him less, it should help his body (damn, why did they extend him last year, so dumb).

One if the top players in the upcoming draft is the PG from Murrey State. Any thoughts on how would mesh with Sexton in the backcourt? Can either play off guard? Would the combination be too short?

Bottom Three Watch

Bulls 21-54 (.280) -
Cavs 19-56 (.253) 2 GB
Suns 17-58 (.227) 4 GB
NYK 14-60 (.189) 6.5 GB

Cavs & Bulls have 7 games remaining.

Cavs:
Mar 28 @ San Antonio
Mar 30 @ L.A. Clippers
Apr 1 @ Phoenix
Apr 4 @ Sacramento
Apr 5 @ Golden St.
Apr 7 vs San Antonio
Apr 9 vs Charlotte

Bulls:
Mar 27 vs Portland
Mar 30 vs Toronto
Apr 1 @ New York
Apr 3 @ Washington
Apr 6 vs Philadelphia
Apr 9 vs New York
Apr 10 @ Philadelphia

With the Cavs behind two games, if the Bulls go 0-7 to finish the season, the Cavs would have to go 3-4 to lose their spot because the Bulls own the tiebreaker (1-3 against the Bulls).

It's probably unlikely the Bulls don't win a single game because they play the Knicks twice and the Bullets once. Also, they play Philly twice to end the season and Philly might have already locked up the #3 seed, so they could be resting everyone.

The Cavs have 6 good teams, 4 current playoff teams. Charlotte may be a playoff team by the time we meet them. The one bad team we have is Phoenix, but we're not that much better than them, but I figure we'll smoke them.

Down 71-52 against the Sun at halftime and Booker only has 8 points? That's some serious tanking.

This was the one game I was worried the Cavs might win. Shoot, they may give up 130.

Cavs & Bulls have 4 games remaining.

With four to go, the Cavs need to go 3-1 and the Bulls need to go 0-4 for the Cavs to drop out of the bottom three. I don't see the Cavs winning three of four with GS and SAS in there (both of them are fighting for playoff seeding).

Magic quit? Wow. This summer is going to be a fun ride (and "fun" doesn't necessarily mean good things for the Lakers).

I'm not mad at Lebron nor am I hoping it gets worse for him in LA, but damn, it looks like a dumpster fire over there and each passing day somebody throws tires in it. It's kind of hilarious to watch (again, not anything against Lebron and his decision to leave, just the spectacle of how it's crashing down).

I suppose there's still a chance a top tier free agent comes to the Lakers, but I just don't see it. Would Durrant and/or Kyrie arrive to save Lebron? Would Leonard leave Toronto? I suppose Jimmy Butler could come calling, but is he that "Tier 1" free agent?

We don't know the draft lottery yet, but assuming the Cavs got a top 3 pick, which we have a 52% chance of getting, do the Cavs make the playoffs before the Lakers? I would have thought 0% chance of that 3-4 months ago, today, not so much.

I bet that a top FA has a better shot of landing w/LeBron in LA than one does in Cleveland.

I have to say this..............LeBron is the one dude who brought us a championship, but he takes an inordinate amount of abuse on this board. Meanwhile, a guy who has a losing record is glorified and can not be questioned.

Strange.

Every time I turn on an nba game it's OKC. Which is fine with me, as I root for them when the Cavs suck.
