I am really confused.

49. Cleveland Browns – Taylor Rapp, SS, Washington
Rapp wasn’t a lock first rounder prior to his pro day and it now seems very unlikely that he will crack the top 32 after his 4.78 40-yard dash. However, there are teams in the mid-second round that loved to see that 4.78, hoping to see him fall this far.

4.78 40: is still bad no matter what the round is.

If he can add weight, he might make a nice cover 2 LB. I don't see him holding up in space as a safety. Not sure if he has the frame for it, though.

ROUND 1, PICK NO. 17: ODELL BECKHAM JR, WR, NEW YORK GIANTS
Remember that time John Dorsey reunited Odell Beckham and Jarvis Landry and low-key made the Cleveland Browns America's (new) Team? How fun was that? Oh wait, that just happened.

If there were a handful of players that you'd want to surrender a pick in the late teens for, Odell is most definitely one of them. The fireworks have only just begun -- this is admittedly a combustable group of personalities. But for as explosive as it can potentially be if things go wrong, it's much more potent if things go right.

ROUND 2, PICK NO. 49: DARNELL SAVAGE, S, MARYLAND

You're a fool if you think the signing of Morgan Burnett alleviates the need for a Safety on this roster. And I'm going to be honest, I love this fit a whole lot. Savage, mixed with Damarious Randall, gives the Browns two speedy back end players with modest potential to play some man to man coverage. I'd leave that to Randall and let Savage roam on the back end when it's time to lock up extra receivers.

Plus, Savage has booming hitting skills and can cover a ton of space on the ground, too.

ROUND 3, PICK NO. 80: TRYSTEN HILL, IDL, CENTRAL FLORIDA
Signing Sheldon Richardson is a huge move for this front. And adding Trysten Hill behind him gives the Browns some rotational depth in a penetration player for the 3T. Hill can be an up and down player and he butted heads with the staff at Central Florida, but John Dorsey has a proven track record of not really caring about past transgressions -- for better or for worse.

Hill fills a need and offers notable upside, making it a logical fit here in the 3rd-round.

ROUND 4, PICK NO. 119: COREY BALLENTINE, CB, WASHBURN
We've now reached the tipping point in the Draft: Day 3, when the picks typically don't matter because they don't work out. Well, since we're here, we may as well swing for the fences, right? Ballentine is a small school prospect with big time potential, but he'll need to be coached up. His ceiling is pretty lofty as a James Bradbury type of cornerback, but expecting that level of play early on is a fools errand. Instead, sign a pre-season cut to start opposite Denzel Ward and continue to coach up the young corners. If you don't strike gold, there's 2020.

ROUND 5, PICK NO. 144: BEAU BENZSCHAWEL, IOL, WISCONSIN
The bad news: the team traded Kevin Zeitler. The good news: the team drafted Austin Corbett in the early 2nd-round last year. The bad news: There's not a lot of depth on the line anymore.

Okay, cool. We know exactly what Benzschawel is: he's a powerful run blocker who does well in tight spaces. In Cleveland, he can serve as depth (for now, barring injury) but the Browns would be wise to have a reasonable back-up plan on the line.

ROUND 5, PICK NO. 155: TRE WATSON, LB, MARYLAND

Like the offensive line, the Browns' linebackers are set. But the depth behind Avery, Schobert and Kirksey aren't great, so adding a linebacker like Tre Watson makes some sense. Watson made plays at Maryland as a defender in space and he's got effective (but not elite) range to roam the middle of the field.

I like his addition because he could feasibly serve as depth at more than one spot on the the second level, too.

ROUND 5, PICK NO. 170: RYAN BATES, OL, PENN STATE
Bates played Tackle at Penn State, but he lacks the length to play there in the pros. Instead, it's more depth (and a more athletic option) for the interior offensive line. Could Bates play Tackle? In a pinch. No such thing as too many competent offensive linemen.

ROUND 6, PICK NO. 189: PRESTON WILLIAMS, WR, COLORADO STATE
What did we just get done saying about Dorsey's willingness with red flag players? Williams at this point is well worth the risk, he was a volume receiver at Colorado State who grossly underwhelmed with his athletic testing. But those natural ball skills didn't just up and disappear, a low-risk selection like Williams could perhaps make some noise in the league down the road. It's a long shot, but that's what picks this late are for, anyway.

ROUND 7, PICK NO. 221: DONALD PARHAM, TE, STETSON
Njoku, DeValve...the Browns just signed Demetrius Harris to a short-term deal this offseason. But Parham is a massive body who could possibly be stashed on the Practice Squad before cutting loose from Harris next year to save a few million bucks.
