Yeah it sucks, NBC Sports does great work with the NHL, but outside of that and the occasional college football game, there isn't much else on there.

kinda stupid that it is put as a premium channel. If NBC sports and FOX Sports want to be treated like they were ESPN, they should be available as so.

I did not see that coming, they looked so out of their league after period 1, down 3-0 and barely able to do anything.
So much so that scoring 1, to get to 3-1 didn't even look like it mattered.

Then at some point they get to 3-2, and right away the refs get a penalty, almost no penalties had been called at all, but right away, Tampa's got a double for drawing blood, a 4 minute power play,

and not only do the Jackets barely if at all give up any shots, in the first half of the penalty kill, they score short handed on the 2nd half of it.

Seems they figured something out, because a more control the puck, wait and see kind of vibe worked out for not only the majority of the 2nd period, but a quick chance to get the go ahead goal with about 7 minutes to play in the 3rd. IIRC.

I thought Torts, (John Tortorella) would have called a timeout at faceoffs, with 1 minute, and with 37 seconds to go, but he didn't and things worked out.

Big win for Columbus. Now TB will feel some pressure in game 2.
If they get down 2-0 heading back to Ohio, they're in trouble.

I said it the day the Blue Jackets traded for Seth Jones: they got a stud.

It wasn't just that CBJ won...they beat the overall #1 seed after being down 3-0 on the road, and Tampa had the 2nd best regular season record ever (right?).

Amazing.

If they steal game 2, look out!

With a 62-16-4 record, the Lightning tied the 1995-96 Red Wings for the most wins in a season. And Tampa Bay, with 128 points, fell just short of one huge benchmark — the record 132 points achieved by the 1976-77 Montreal Canadiens (60-8-12), who were regarded as one of the best, if not the best, N.H.L. teams ever.

Big win for the Leafs, game 1 in Boston.

Toronto was the better team, looked faster, quicker on the puck. Takes some pressure off Game 2.

looks like the CBJ means business. They were battle tested the last 10 games of the season, fearing that they would miss the playoffs, going 8-2. Tampa is a fast team, plays very up tempo, but ddont like to get hit alot. CBJ is just the opposite... not very quick... but play somewhat physical

Didn’t the CBJ’s do this last year as well, go up 2-0 on the road?

Yep, and that didn't end well. This is the best squad ever assembled for that team. I still question them psychologically.

Glad to see the win, but, please, not last year again. Snakebit, Ohio for playoffs.

I'm not much of a hockey fan I have always liked the Boston Bruins because of Bobby Orr but I have to say the Columbus Blue Jackets have made it interesting to watch … I will be rooting for them unless they play the Bruins of course smile

There's no doubt that Tampa will make a few adjustments, but right now they have no room to operate any kind of offense. CBJ is clogging the slot and the blue line area, and the Bolts have not adjusted to any of that.

Really impressed with the Islanders. I really hate that after the series shifts to Pittsburgh, the remaining home games this series will be played at that awful Barclays center in Brooklyn. The Nassau crowds in games 1 and 2 have been by far the best environment in the whole playoffs.

Unbelievable job by the Blues too. Winnipeg looks like they forgot this was a playoff series.

The referees were horrible tonight in Boston. The Bruins deserved to win - their game plan was to be very physical, not let us use our speed, and it worked - but the referees weren't calling the cheap shots, missed a tonne of Bruins penalties, and it got a tad ugly. There'll be lots of animosity in Toronto on Monday night. Kudos to Nazim Kadri for standing up for his teammate late in the third.

The Pens may need AARP to step in for some assistance to give them youth to win this series...

I hope Columbus doesn't lay an egg tonight.

It only counts if they finish. I hope they do.

Great win for the Knights last night. For all the hockey officiandos how good is Marc Stone? Guy has been killing it since he got to Vegas. I know it was a big trade and they signed him to a huge contract but in my quest to really get into hockey I've only been watching Knights games. I don't watch any other games. Stone seems like one of the best players in the league.

LOL - The Rish will be upset with this news as well. KS just doesn't prioritize winning...

No.

But nonetheless it's understandable. The work isn't done until the hay is in the barn. But it's better to be up 3-0 than the other way around.

Gut-check win for the Leafs tonight, hanging on to a 3-2 lead for the final 20 minutes.
Up 2-1 against the Bruins, with game 4 in Toronto. I seriously want to beat them..

It's the Browns fan in you coming out. You still feel that somehow, they are going to blow it and be on the wrong end of an epic, historic defeat.... that they are going to force a game 7 and in the 3rd period with you up by a goal, suddenly John Elway is going to skate onto the rink and post 2 quick goals and you will lose in embarrassing fashion...

So, is it normal? It is kind of normal for anybody who has been a fan of a long-struggling team and has learned to expect the worst...

But enjoy it anyway.

It's just hockey boys. Hard and smart for 60 minutes. Finish the only sweep in round 1.
