I don't think Freddie lacks experience. That is what makes a head coach. He also has experienced coordinators, which will be a big help.

I don't get why you think he was fast tracked.

Probably because he was never a HC before at any level. I think that's right. Right? He was also never an OC before the second half of last season. Thus, he lacks experience in the most key roles on a coaching staff.

Now, you might not think that is important and that is your right. But, lamp didn't say anything that you shouldn't "get."

I also don't think our two coordinators have a lot of experience in their respective roles. Again, that might not be a big deal and this staff could end up being sensational, but believe me.........if this team doesn't meet expectations, the natives will be screaming bloody murder about the qualifications of this coaching staff.

I think it had to be looked at long term. If we have a great season, Freddie is gone somewhere else as a head coach. We didn't want to miss out, which is a risk, but I think it was the right thing to do. In cautiously optimistic.

Beyond Baker, I think our front seven, and our skill positions give us a better than excellent chance of winning at least 10 games. Our D-line should be exceptional. Our WR corps should be one of the best in the league. Our O-line should be very good. Our running game should be top five, and maybe top 2 after week 8. Also, I don't think we're done tweaking the secondary, and we may see some slight change at linebacker, but with the return of a healthy Terrance Mitchell and the emergence of Avery, both squads should be formidable. Finally, I think coaching will be executed at a very high level. In any case, this is going to be a really, really good team, IMHO.

There is no 8-8 as a good season. We cannot be PAPER CHAMPIONS.
My point is this is it dawgs...Losing ERA is over with and now we are ready to get the NFL. WIN! has to be our results.

Not disagreeing with you this time LOL, but here is a huge negative for the Browns to overcome this season.

In the past teams just looked past the Browns and marked the calendar with a W now with all the big talk about the Browns we are going to see teams come to play us with all they got we need to match that intensity and push it up a notch or 2. We aren't going to coast with, new players, coaches, and teams looking to make their mark or make a statement at our expense.

The hard work begins NOW its all hands on deck pulling the rope together in the same direction. For the 1st time in forever I truly believe we have the pieces now they have to blend together and be championship level and fast too. If anyone thinks will sneak up on anyone next season they need to have another thought, will get the very best teams can bring just like it should be IMO.

Last season went much like I thought it would in reflection early season struggles followed by late season success. Time playing together may get us early if we truly are elite in talent, the talent will get us thru the 1st few then time playing together should catapult us to championship football team. thumbsup

Can we please just skip all the hype and start the games NOW?

It is amazing to say, but this appears to be a team without any real holes. There are capable players or better at every position. It's absolutely incredible when compared to the end of the 2017 season. Now they just have to put it all together on the field.

If this jerk didn't have a player list in front of him; he wouldn't know who was on the team.

He knows only the names of recognition.

After the draft when we have a complete 53 man roster maybe we will know more.

Then we play the schedule. There is nothing else.

Not about teams gearing up for us. Not about primetime games. Not about gimmie games, or tough games.

It is about each person doing their job as Belichick says. It is about preparation for each game. Each player being prepared to beat the guy he plays against.

The coaches preparing the team to win each game.

Any given Sunday or Thursday, or Monday you have to be prepared to bring it. No team is going to lay down. No team is incapable of beating you.

We have the talent to compete every week.

The devil as they say is the details. Attitude, Effort, and Execution.

All the BS from the media like Cowherd or anybody is just garbage. He doesn't know. Neither does anyone else.

The coaches and players will decide the outcome.

The talentless hack union just called and demanded that you not associate Cowherd with their good name.

Yeah I know. I was just responding to the poster who couldn't remember if our most recent opening-week win was in 2004 or '05.

let's see how my memory is without looking it up: We beat Baltimore at home with Garcia as the QB

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Agreed.

I'm not certain that CC was even being his usual asinine self. Basically, this is just common sense in print: "it's the NFL; no games are guaranteed wins."

That said, if he was simply going to belabor the obvious, he could have kept quiet and added just as much to the conversation.

There’s not a game on that schedule we can’t win .... when’s the last time we could say that? ...

There is no sure wins in the NFL (hardy har har to the jokes we know are coming) ... there never is ... talent wins games ... we have talent ... lets see how bad the injury bug bites this year ...

Other than that .... i’ll be expecting to be in every game and to win more than lose ...

Goals:

- beat Tennessee
- make the playoffs
- win the division
- clinch #1 seed
- survive and advance ...

Those are my goals for this team .... were good ...

This is DIFFERENT!!!!!

It was almost a disaster... I kept thinking that was the game that would keep us from the playoffs... luckily we still made the playoffs and the game was forgotten.

I remember dropping to my knees and staying in the fetal position for quite a while after Rudd's helmet toss

now... it's commonplace for players to take off their helmets before they leave the field.

It's been a long time where we will actually compete to win every game we play. No doubt we won't win them all, but there isn't a team we can't beat.

If they choose to enforce it.

I have seen several times towards the ends of games right after a big play where a player takes off his helmet... no penalty.

I believe Rudd thought the play was dead and the game was over. It was what created the problem. And actually, the clock had ran out.
