First off, I would like to give you guys props for this board...far and away the best Browns MB on the net. Don't tar and feather me but, I'm a die-hard Cincinnati Bengals fan. I don't like the Browns simply because they are a division rival however I have respect for the fanbase of the Browns. There aren't many more loyal fans in all of sports than Browns fans.

Which specific game or moment did you realize that you were a die-hard fan? For me, the Bengals vs. New Orleans game in 2002 is when I realized that the Bengals would be my team regardless of anything else. Going into that game, I think we were like 1-10 or 0-9 (ahh...the Bungle years ) and NO was trying to get into the playoffs...we beat them 20-14. Nick Luchey (scrub RB) ran for 2 TD's and I just remember being in shock that they actually won. We have become spoiled with Marvin Lewis (arrests aside) and I expect them to win every game, but back in the early 00's it was a struggle.

I'd say shortly after Red Right 88. I was 2 months old.

OR, my second ever live game. My first was in 1987, a win against your Bengals, but I was only 6 years old and barely remember. But in 1989 I saw the Browns beat Denver 16-13. Not only did they win, but they threw so much crap (batteries, eggs, ect) at John Elway that the refs let them change sides of the field (away from the Dawg Pound). I remember thinking, "this is the coolest thing I've ever been a part of". Been hooked ever since.

Christmas of 1974 when as a 5 year old I got a coat from my grandpa with the Browns logo on the back. That started my love affair with football and the Browns...thank God he wasn't a Stooler fan because if my grandpa was a fan I was a fan . Grandpa is long gone but my masochism..errr..fanaticism of all things Browns is still alive and well and will be until I die.

P.S. my nephew who's Dad is a big Stooler fan will be getting a little Kellen Winslow jersey for Xmas. Tried reporting him to child services but it seems they don't consider that child abuse...the barbarians.

Same here man, I actually remember how crushed my family was after that debacle. I was 3 then. Thats it for me, Browns football has been part of my family every Sunday for as long as I can remember. It was sorta a family thing to do each week, everyone would come over or we all went to the games.

My nickname actually at work is Die Hard b/c I work with a bunch of Steeler fans. They are all cool with me though and everyone gets the biggest kick about how passionate I am about the team. But we all are like this! GO BROWNS!

BTW welcome bengal! You better like OSU at least

It might sound strange, but I credit my early interest in Pro Football to the 1985 Chicago Bears.-That teams unique personalities really intrigued me. However, I am born and raised in Cleveland and have always rooted for the Browns above all else.
My obsession began during the 1985 season. I will never forget the Cleveland Browns playoff loss to Miami. I was in second grade, and I remember watching that game with my entire family in our living room. The Browns were up 21-3 at one point. We were going crazy. Of course, we lost.
The next season, my dad began taking me to Browns games. I had the privilege of going to the greatest game in recent Browns history, that is, the 1986 double overtime playoff victory against the New York Jets. Yes, I was also there the following week, to watch "The Drive."

Wasn't Muni Stadium great?

When I didn't watch pro football while we were gone. I would watch and enjoy other pro football teams before the Browns were ripped from us. After that though it just wasn't fun to watch other teams.

When I kicked in my mom & dad's TV after Tommy Kramer completed the Hail Mary to Amhad Rashad and I thought there was no way the Browns would win the next week & make the playoffs...THEY WON!! Oops, my bad!

My dad was a browns fan, so, growing up, it was the Browns every Sunday afternoon. I have taken it to a new extreme in our family, but, to answer your question: Forever.

I'd say it was after my first real Browns memories: the drive and the fumble. I saw how upset my dad was and how people just generally carried themselves after those losses.

There were times in HS when I didn't really follow the Browns too closely, but they were always my team. These past few years, especially after discovering Dawg Talk (the old one) and with this board, my passion for the team has really grown.

Welcome to the board. Excellent first post, you know-for a Bengals fan

Definitely Red Right 88. I find it interesting how many of us have a negative moment that sealed the deal for us. Too bad I can't remember 64; I was very young. Now, I'm very old and I don't remember last Thursday either. Love the Browns, just freakin' love em.

It was 2003, the Browns were in a down year and the Rams were my second team. The Rams were in playoff contention and the greatest show on turf was back in gear.

The Browns played the Rams on MNF. To start the game, I wanted the Rams to win since the season was lost for the Browns.

As the game progressed I found myself getting upset that the Browns were losing, then as the Browns made their comeback I found myself cheering them relentlessly, praying they'd make the upset and pull off the win.

I knew then that for better or worse, I'm a Browns fan before anything else, no matter what happens.

When I first shed tears over a football game. Red Right 88. My first football team, was the Cowboys. I remember my dad watching a game, and it was the Redskins, Cowboys. I loved their helmets, and always liked being the Cowboy, when we played that politicaly incorrect game. It was 1978 and I was ten. My Uncle from Celina was visiting, and he was a diehard Browns fan. I watched a game with him. It was against the Jets, and the Browns won in overtime. I became a Browns fan that day.

When did you realize that you were a diehard fan?

I was 3 years old .... and cut my finger. When the blood poured out orange and brown .... I kinda knew then.

when did I know I was a die-hard fan?

for me, it's the fact that I still tune in, in spite of the p.o.s. product they've been putting on the field for years. Only the die-hards are left at this point. Sorry, but it needs to be said.

I actually attended both Bengals vs. Browns games this year...along with Atlanta, San Diego, and Oakland. The game against ya'll (September 17th) was my first NFL game...thanks for knocking all of our starters out by the way .

And yes, I'm a Buckeyes fan...not hardcore but I pull for them to win every Sat. A friend of mine recommended this board to me...just reading around the different topics it seems like everyone is pretty knowledgable about not only the Browns but the rest of the NFL. I appreciate that and thanks for welcoming me to this board.
