I think you can bank on this now. Going back to the end of last year and Romeo's indecisiveness on who the starter would be in 2007, then the trade to draft Quinn, to the coin flip on who the starter would be for our first pre season game, to the changing of QB's in todays Pittsburgh game, to the crowd chanting for Brady, the QB debate is just about in full effect now.
I'm going week 4, by that time I have a feeling that Romeo is going to be feeling the pressure that his job is in serious danger, and will sit the two best backups in the NFL in Frye and Anderson and try to save his hide.
I would much rather wait on playing him this early, but it is what it is.

If this keeps up it will be the Miami game. No way he starts next week, or in Oakland, and no way against Balimore or NE... I can see at home against Miami at the earliest..

Nice...
Well the Browns got killed on NBC... Savage said that the Browns are meeting at 7AM tomorrow morning to discuss what will happen with this team... sounds like Savage doesn't expect Quinn to start next week... the announcers were mixed.

I don't care when he plays. He's got to be better than what we have now, especially Frye. I now see why we kept Anderson over Dorsey.

all i can say that as a diehard browns fan out of the rural cleveland area it pained me to see anderson trot out there time after time to make an even biggeer embarrasment of this team. the only glimmer of hope i was holding on to was to see #10 come in and pump some energy and hope into this team and city. this coaching staff along with fans on this board need to wake up and realize the mighty quinn is our future good bad or indifferent this year. i can only hope that RC and Sav come to there senses this week and get QUINN IN!!!!!!
go browns!!!!!!

As I see this, if cincy shows an inept an defense as they had last season, start Quinn for game 2. That would give him a live game to warm up for oakland and rat city.

It makes me sad and angry to hear people talk about our team like this, but I think it makes me even sadder and angrier when they continue to prove it year after year.
I just don't know what to think anymore. Are we all - Savage included - delusional when we think the talent is better? Maybe it's really not.
Or is it the coaching?
I'm at a loss for words. The Packers and Texans won today - two teams who I thought we would be much better than, and I believe the Raiders put up 21 pts in their loss.
I just don't know what to think anymore.
How can it be the same thing year after year after year? How can it be that way?

just clicking...
More ridicule from the analysts. I was just watching the NFL Network recap show with Eisen, Sanders, and Mariucci.
As the show was coming to a close, they were talking about the Browns...Neon Deion couldn't contain his laughter and as the show faded to a close he says 'Lombardi couldn't win with that team'.
Prior to that he was completely ripping our defense.
Man, this hurts. Work is going to suck tomorrow.

I think this team does have the talent, we just dont currently have a QB that can lead them. Charlie proved today that he is clueless and couldnt read a D if his life depended on it and DA wasnt much better. I think Quinn will be the answer we need but I dont want to rush him and throw him in there before he is ready. I dont want to ruin him like we did with Couch and the Texans did with Carr. Once Brady takes the reigns and the Line has a chance to gel I think we will see a vast improvement.

I agree and that's why I keep going back to something I've been harping on today.
Our qb play is terrible and that is having a trickle down effect on the rest of the team.

I know what you mean. I remember quite a few times where the receivers were under/over thrown and the camera would just show them shaking their head while walking away. Doesnt look like they have any confidence in our QB's at all. You cant win a game if you dont have confidence in the person thats leading you.

Jason Campbell threw a pick on his first pass this season. His team still won. Why didn't his poor play trickle down? Vince Young threw for 78 yards and ran for 22 yards and his team still won. Why didn't his poor play trickle down?
This TEAM isn't very good, not just the QB's. There is no trickle down problem.

I would have to say the coaches have something to do with it. For example, Pittsburgh had third and two at some point, and both of our corners were five yards off the line of scrimmage! All's Ben had to do was flick his and he had a first down. Luckily, the Steelers had an illegal procedure or something. But, dang, third and two and your covers are giving a cushion?
I don't even want to touch on the QB side of it, but I think Frye may have seen his last start.

Did they show K2's reaction after his 2 drops? Did they show JJ's reaction after his 2 drops? Did they show BE's reaction after his fumble?

They both played crappy teams... I do agree with you somewhat that Frye/Anderson did not lose this on his own... but they sure as hell didn't help any.

I remember seeing Heiden on a poor throw look back at DA and say "Where the hell was that going?"

We could have won today if we had a competent qb and a leader at the position.

Frye will never play again in a Browns uniform.
I'd be curious to hear your reasoning on this.

Im am in no way saying that the receivers played well today. So we have receivers that have no confidence in the qb's and we have qb's with no confidence in our receivers. Even better.

The problem is that DA had a day almost as bad and Brady would probably have been eaten alive.
Not only would I bet it's not Charlie's last game in a Browns uniform. I'd be willing to bet that he plays next week.

I can't imagine he'd play next week... he got benched after one and a half quarters... you don't bench a guy and then come back next week and say 'oh we were wrong'.... it's either DA or Quinn... and I would suspect DA. But if DA starts and plays badly we had BETTER not see Frye come back in... that would just be stupid.

I can't speak for Mensa, but I agree with him and will give you my thoughts on it.
1. Fry looked like a lost kid out there today, and you have to wonder if the QB comp, being offered in trade scenerios this off season, and the drafting of Quinn accompanied by the Quinn chants have killed his confidence. I've been hard on CF's play, but the one thing I always thought he had was heart and confidence. I just didn't see much of neither today which makes me wonder if he is just totally mental toast after all he's been through this offseason
2. Once RAC made the decision to put DA in it pretty much ended Fry's career as a starter. I just can't see RAC playing musical chairs with these 2 much longer........he'll stick with DA until Brady is ready
3. Quinn might start next week. I don't agree with it, and don't want it to happen, but those 2 showed so little that we might just say screw it, and let him go ahead and get his lumps this year.
I really hated how this has ended for Charlie, becuase although I think he's not a very good QB, I think he's a real good kid. My hopes was that he could develop into a really solid backup behind Brady, but I have my doubts after what I saw today...............just didn't look like the same guy that I've seen in the past.

Why would it be stupid? You guys act like no QB has ever had a bad day and come back from it. If DA starts and they really think Brady is not ready that means that Charlie will be the #2. That means when DA throws his 2nd INT and we're behind by 14 they'll put Charlie in.
Farfetched? I don't think so. Of course, they could call Leftwich tomorrow and sign him Tuesday. Who the hell knows...........

It's like in Toy Story.
Quinn is Buzz Lightyear, #9 is Woody. Although calling him Woody would be too nice. He's more like Wheezy without the Squeaker.
His confidence and psyche are completely shot to hell. First he loses his hold on the starting job, then we draft Quinn, he gets his job back basically by default cuz he didn't play well in the competition, then Quinn plays well in the preseason to add more pressure, coupled in with the crowd wanting Quinn in once #9 laid an egg.
It honestly would not surprise me if we released him tomorrow. Radical concept, but honestly I would not be surprised.
EDIT: It's also like how the year after Jake Plummer has a career year they draft Cutler and Plummer suddenly goes down the toilet.

I hope Quinn plays ASAP!!!! In the past couple of years, we've never had a strong QB and that is what really hurts us...our QB's have no guidance, nothing to learn from...but Quinn is like a football god and he should play! Go Brady!

Give it up Mensa. At this point your drivel and stats are meaningless. We all watched the game.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

rotating QBs would do nothing to help the confidence of either QB or the players around them... there needs to be one starting QB... if Frye isn't starting then he is done as a Brown IMO... but I can see him getting the start next week... which I would be ok with.. not thrilled about... but ok...

Winslow had one drop, unless you want to count the left handed full extension over the middle off his finger tips play.

j/c Frye has had a vote of no confidence from this coach since last season ended. The "leg up" turned into a coin toss which turned in a QB competition which has turned into a "Botch repeat" today! No RAC isn't feeding fuel to the fire! No RAC didn't create this QB contraversy! No,RAC is being a true professional! GMAFB At least if RAC had "pretended" to give Frye the "vote of confidence" he wouldn't be in such a mess looking like some kid in a candy store trying to figure out which flavor of lollipop to choose. Truely sad. But that's okay. People will ignore the reality of it to defend the indefensible.
