That makes a lot of sense. I always wondered why Jon always said "Dany, my aunt she is. Hot she is."

It’s also the only reason he wears a cape. The backstory always was that he hated capes before he saw Star Wars. Again, these are the things you learn when you read the books. Look it up.

Battle of Winterfell episode was the worst episode the D&D have written and damn near ruins the entire series.

So much stuff that has happened the past 7 seasons was completely pointless.

Azor Ahai? Doesn't matter.
Jon Snow being brought back to life? So?
Bran? BRAN?! He did NOTHING with probably the greatest power ever. He just sat there.
What was the point of them going beyond the wall in S7? That entire plot only exists to give the NK an Ice Dragon.

We spent 7 seasons building up the Jon, Night King, and Bran story line. And it was all for not.

Arya hopping in like that is worse than the Dorne story line conundrum. It ruined the entire story that shows have created.

What good did Bran ever do with his knowledge?

I've been pissed about it all week and I'm not even excited to see how it ends. And I LOVED the show and and a HUGE book follower.

I would agree that Brans story arc has really been kind of blah. They kept propping him up with this amazing gift, but it never seems to really affect much of anything. I kept expecting some grand revelation that he would profess, and the world would be forever changed.

His only purpose seems to be as bait.

They also never got around to telling the story of how the Night King turned Hoth from a tropical paradise planet into what we saw in the opening scenes of Empire Strikes Back.

Little known factoid... The Knight King is Darth Maul... look and their head spikes and tell me I’m wrong.

The show constantly stressed the 'symbols' and 'signs' (aka. those weird swirl things) from the WW like it was of any significance. Shoot, it was like the opening scene of the series.

.....what do they mean? What's the point of it? It literally doesn't matter.

That writing for that episode was beyond disappointing.

The worst part is that the first 15 minutes of the episode are probably my favorite 15 minutes of any show or movie that I've seen in my entire life. I was so hyped. It was so tense. Seeing the Dothraki have those sword things lit on fire? Sick. Watching the fires slowly go out one by one? Jesus, amazing.

But the Bran/Jon/Arya/Night King story arcs have been wasted. Totally and completely wasted.

I thought that was explained. It was just the pattern of the weirwood trees at the time where he was turned into the Night's King.

The sign that I don't believe was explained, to my knowledge, was the theta sign.

I had it out with someone on another board that announced they’re quitting (though they said they’d eventually watch a few months from now) . After 70 episodes and three left, you quit? Heck, the one thing you’re upset over may not be a big deal if the next episode is rad.

I had a problem with the lighting choice, but again I don’t blame them because they don’t have the budget to do that battle in the afternoon sun, and I think they misused Bran for the series. In my opinion, you could remove him from the whole show and it wouldn’t change much (or rather, have him die from the push).

I still like it, I’m looking forward to this Sunday and I may even throw a party for the finale.

I kind of feel like they are rushing the conclusion of this series.

With so many different storylines going on, it seems like they would need several more episodes to finish it adequately.

Exactly. They had a pace for developing a myriad of story lines big and small. In season 7 they had the number of episodes reduced, and an even larger reduction in season 8. That forced the producers to change their timeline, resulting to forced conclusions, and incomplete or inadequately developed story lines. I think that if allowed to complete 80 episodes instead of 73, the Bran story line, among others, would have been handled differently.

I don't even understand why they didn't do that way.

I know this series must be a cash cow for them.

I never had HBO. I only got it to watch Hard Knocks last Summer. Then started binge watching GOT. And kept the subscription just to see the Finale.

I'm sure there are lots of people who only watch for GOT.

Because honestly, HBO mostly sucks, it's not worth an extra 15 bucks a month. There's never any movies I want to watch. It's cheaper to just rent whatever new movie I like comes into On Demand.

I will be ditching them when GOT is finished.

There is an inordinate amount of complaining about this show. I think it's fine to complain about some things, but it might be better to balance that w/the good.

GOT is a huge production. The individual shows resemble movies more than they do regular series shows on TV. The time, cost, effort, creativity, to produce each and every show is off the charts. I don't think there is another TV show that comes close to accomplishing what GOT accomplishes.

Healthy criticism is good, but it might be wise to enjoy what you do have, as well.

I've have literally been waiting for this season of GoT, just so I can drop my HBO. I look at the schedule on the first saturday of the month around 9pm, since that seems to be the 1 new movie timeslot, that I record to watch later. Not worth $15/mo for 1 movie, when I can watch true NEW movies onDemand for 5.99/ea

I pisses me off when I turn to HBO and shows like Mad Men (a great show) is on. I can watch that in reruns on TBS or other such channels. It shouldn’t be on a premium channel. Borne Identity? It’s constantly on FX and such. Shouldn’t be on HBO. Period. Basically HBO shouldn’t be allowed to run anything that can be found on basic cable.

I only have HBO for GOT. I subscribe each season two days before GOT starts, and cancel the day after each season’s ending episode.

What gets me is I was going through the onDemand movies, and they had movies like Breakfast Club, Back To The Future, etc and where charging 5.99 for them. Who pays for a 30 year old movie on demand, you can probably get the DVD at Target or Walmart for $3, or wait for it to come on TBS.

As for GoT, I just don't see how they will adequately complete all the stories and character lines in 3 episodes. I imagine there is going to be some big holes, and some real "What About?" moments.

It’s three episode but each one is almost 80 minutes long. So it’s closer to 4, hour long, actual episodes. But yes. Still a lot to get through to wrap it up.

Just an aside, but I think they missed an opportunity to tie in Arya's dire wolf Nymeria. We already knew she was leading a pack of wolves. I think it would have been cool to show the wolf pack joining the battle at some point...as if fate brought her back to Winterfell.

Three dragons + Ghost is probably a ton of money to fork over in CGI. Adding a pack of wolves may have been too much.

...I kind of picture Vers as the Night King in my imagination now.

"I must erase all memory of the Browns being good. That fiery QB must die. Cleveland must return to eternal Night. Muahahahaha."

Sadly, I've never developed my video-editing skills.

I'm just joking, but the Baker-hate is... something else.

It’s not hate. I’m not a big fan of the kind of personality Baker has, even though I’m glad he’s our QB. I can like his play and be a fan of this team, and even a fan of Baker’s, without being a fan of his persona.
That said. Kill this convo in this thread.

So, who is killing Cersei?

Who deserves to take the kill the most.

I think Sansa.

Arya already got hers.

And Sansa lost her Father. Dany lost a dragon and a friend.

...or will Cersei survive? You never know.

Sounds like they’re paying off the Jon versus Dani potential. As soon as she finds out Jon told the secret, she’ll see that as an attack against her reign. They’re done in my opinion, which is a better story than them being together.

Overall, a good rebound episode. Back to the grind.

Two after tonight’s. I think each are 90 minutes, so three hours to go.

I want to know where they got these ballistic missile-firing ballistas that can hit targets half a mile away with deadly force (even those hundreds of feet in the air) and can be reloaded in 30 seconds. Are they magical?

Why not just shoot Daenerys with them when she's standing in front of your gate? You can't tell me they couldn't hit her.

I said before, the whole season feels rushed. They could probably and needed to spend about 2 seasons worth to develop and bring closure to alot of the story lines. I agree with the whole harpoons firing through a mountain and hitting a moving target hundreds of feet up and 3000 yards away

If I am Cersei, I am absolutely opening fire on the queen, her dragon and that tiny force at the gate. You’re gonna provoke them and NOT try to take them all out when they are at your doorstep?

The big cross bows would have been humming until they were either all dead or they escaped.

Don’t even get me started about KNOWING that Yuron Greyjoy is a master pirate and taking your navy directly to him…
