Beto O'Rourke attempts to reboot campaign on 'The View,' bemoans his 'privilege' and 'elitist' campaign launch

Former Rep. Beto O'Rourke, D-Texas, tried rebooting his 2020 campaign on "The View" Tuesday, admitting that he made some missteps in his initial launch earlier in 2019.

O'Rourke specifically indicated he regretted saying he "sometimes" raised his son, and that his Vanity Fair cover "reinforced" the perception that he was privileged.

When co-host Joy Behar asked if he thought the Vanity Fair cover looked "elitist," O'Rourke nodded his head.

"Yeah, I think it reinforces that perception of privilege." He also clarified that he wasn't trying to say he was "just born to be in" the 2020 presidential race, as Vanity Fair's headline may have suggested.

"[I] was attempting to say that I felt that my calling was in public service. No one is born to be President of the United States of America -- least of all me," he told "The View."

He also addressed his controversial comment about "sometimes" helping his wife to raise their kids.

Beto needs to go run for Senate in Texas before they figure out he's a dud too.

Too late on both accounts.

Although I love watching Democrats go on the view to try to win the white woman demographic.

Beto is this close to pulling a Jeb Bush with the “please clap”.

I thought you were going to say it's because they're both fake latinos.

Say what you want about Jeb! but he would never stand on a table and shout at an entire restaurant.

What’s sad is that Jeb might be more fake Latino than Beto. Jeb married one.

These debates need to get here soon so this field of 22+ dreams/schemes dwindles to the realistic competitors.

He is also fluent in the language! Beto just white guy'd it up by giving himself an ethnic nickname and not correcting a mistake made in his favor.

It's a View joke because Meghan McCain always says 'my dad' when her views are challenged.

At the end of the day, the view is as stupid as fox news or Rachel Maddow, except the view has enough self-awareness to not take itself too seriously.

I didn't get the joke (sorry) as I don't watch the view. As far as being as stupid as fox news or Rachel Maddow I will take your word for it as I don't watch or pay attention to either of them either.

No it wasn’t. It was Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

Mostly women hating GOPer men I think, but not sure that qualifies as 'people'.

Gov. Steve Bullock would make a good dem candidate. I like this guy. I want to know more about him and his policies but I think he would be a large left/center/right appeal candidate. Sounds like a guy that just gets it and seems to understand more of what we Dems/GOPers have in common vs. why we are different and uses that understanding to put together initiatives that do things for all the people. He has a lot of republican support in Montana apparently, while governing from a mostly progressive left stance.

Still need to know more, hope he gets some traction, but he might be a good option after Bernie of course.
