Can someone confirm the order? I've ordered the boxed set with the original 4 books and naturally presume they read from left to right from the box but have not researched the few others I saw out there. What's what and when do I read it?
A real noob question I realize!...

It's a shame, he did such a good job with Looper and then he tanked the whole Star Wars universe for me. I'm sure I'll see the 3rd film, but I may skip it in theaters. I still don't understand why Disney would approve of JJ writing and directing the first, letting Rian write and direct the 2nd without using much of anything JJ setup for him and then bring back JJ for the 3rd. Even before seeing the 2nd film I knew it was going to stink with that plan.

The only way to save this final season is to end with a big twist: Tyrion is actually a Targaryen!
Reasons I think this is true: 1. In the books, it is revealed that the Mad King had a thing for Tyrion's mom Joanna Lannister. 2. In the books, Tyrion has pale blond hair (not golden like his siblings), and he has one green eye and one black eye (could be dark purple?). Who else has pale blond hair and purple eyes? Targaryens! 3. In season 3 I think, Tywin tells Tyrion he won't inherit Casterly Rock "because I can't prove you aren't my son." 4. Tywin's last words in the TV show and the books:"You are not my son." 5. Tyrion releases the dragons in Mereen without getting killed. 6. In the books, Tyrion dreams about dragons as a child. Other Targaryens have been said to dream of dragons as well (notably Rheagar Targaryen).
What does this mean? Dany will try to execute Tyrion by dragonfire; he will be unharmed, and in the confusion, Bronn pops out with a crossbow and fires it, killing a Dothraki near Dany. All hell breaks out, and and in the madness, Jon kills Dany. Jon becomes king, but doesn't want it. Bran shows up and tells everyone the truth about Tyrion. Jon legitimizes the now bastard-born Tyrion, making him Tyrion Targaryen, son of the Mad King, and rightful heir to the throne!
The real ending will definitely be much worse than this...

I think the only thing that will ruin the finale is if Arya kills Dany. She already has the Night King on her resume, which didn't make sense either.
Jon or Tyrion, heck, even Sansa has more of a beef with Dany than Arya (sure, Arya may want to kill Dany for the sacking of King's Landing, but so would anyone else too). I'm talking to the way the plot has pointed to certain characters. If Jon doesn't kill Dany or is sitting on the throne, why did the God of Light bring him back? Why bother with lead up to him and Dany's blood relationship? What was the big meaning of his resurrection then? Jon has to make a HUGE ripple in the story this Sunday, if not, he wasn't a main character all along then.

Jon hasn't really done anything significant this season because he has been waiting for the final episode.
He's due!

I've set the DVR to record the final show, but I'm going to try like all hell to watch it somewhere, prolly Georgetown. I did some research and apparently there are some bars that have GoT watch parties.. Incidentally, we are getting married around Happy Hour on Wednesday at South Sound on Surfer's Beach GCI..

I read today that HBO would have let it go longer but this genius writing crew basically said, "no thanks, we got this." These clowns are nothing without books to adapt. In their defense, how long are they supposed to wait for George Martin*? A Game of Thrones (1996) A Clash of Kings (1998) A Storm of Swords (2000) A Feast for Crows (2005) A Dance with Dragons (2011) The Winds of Winter (forthcoming) A Dream of Spring (forthcoming) The last book was 2011, which is long time ago. HBO can't wait 1-3 more years for #6 and then another 8+ for #7. Heck, HBO was on hold for almost two years since season 7. And not to be morbid, George Martin is 70 and not a thin dude, will the guy live long enough to finish both books if it's going to take 7-10 years? I'm not wanting them to wait for him. (psst. There will be no more books in HIS lifetime) And they obviously were ditching tons of stuff from books 4 and 5. What I'm wanting are better writers on the show, which is too late. It ended up not being a smooth transition in the end, even with whatever outline the author handed them.

Just have been reading about all the negative responses to GOT.
Bizarre really. All these people feel like they have a better version to how the show should go.
Maybe if I read the books I would feel differently.
I just accept it.

if it goes the way people thought it should go they would say it was too predictable.. if goes any other way then they didn't like it and it wasn't realistic... such is life.

I haven't posted here yet but I have been somewhat underwhelmed by this season. In past seasons, there were twists and turns throughout the episodes, things that almost blindsided me: from Ned Stark's execution, to the Red Wedding, to the Viper's death at the hands of the Mountain. This season? Not really. Among some friends, I've actually predicted the major events so far, although some of the details have been off. For example, I thought the Night King would go down, but thought it would be Jon who would do it. I thought that King's Landing would get overrun, although it was surprising little time they gave to the battle itself (a few minutes?) and how easily the Lannister army, Euron's fleet, Golden company etc. were overwhelmed. Weren't they in prime defensive position, with fresh armies, with massive amounts of time to prepare for the battle? I digress. Now it's pretty obvious that Jon flipped last episode, with so many people getting slaughtered needlessly. Jon is going to kill Dany and the Starks are going to go back and rule Winterfell. It's not like there's much left in King's Landing.

I think it's more likely Jon and Dany run off together than that he kills her.
He doesn't like killing his "enemies". He's let a woman live before. Plus, there's the "you'll always be my queen" bit, and he is Ned's son when it comes to keeping his word.
The people of King's Landing are unlikely to accept Dany now after she massacred so many civilians.
Maybe they end up at the house with the red door and the lemon trees (do I remember that right?) That's the home she wanted to go back to before Drogo.
The Tyrion potentially being a Targaryen idea is interesting. Most of the pieces that I can think of fit.

Dany finds out Tyrion disobeyed. Tries to burn him with dragon fire, dragon either refuses or he is unharmed, both proving his lineage as a Targaryean.

Have we asked everyone's prediction on the final scene? Meaning, will it be of the throne room and someone sitting down? And who? I still think Jon's killing Dany but Jon won't be on the throne. Maybe it's Tyrion or Sansa, but I don't think it's Dany or Jon (last scene). I'll need more time to make my final prediction.

Jon happily serves as Warden of the North, Bronn gets Highgarden and serves as Warden of the South. Arya is free to do as she pleases, although Storm's End might be a frequent stop.

I think that is all very plausible. I see it playing out the same way, but I wonder if Arya is already dead--or is death itself. Riding off on that pale horse that looked just like the horse that was killed earlier makes one wonder...

I should have added that I too doubt Dani lives. I still kinda think [but am not sure] that Arya is already dead.
Of course, I've been wrong about so much of this series that my predictions are probably way off.

My only issue with the season is that the whole thing has seemed rushed. The build up over the last couple seasons of the white walkers coming, and then BAM, it's over, and last episode it was almost like it never took place.
This season has been more like a sitcom, where each episode has a small tie that links them, but they are new storylines each week.
We don't have to agree with each other, to respect each others opinion.

That is too happy an ending, Dani probably has to die, or worse, retains the throne as the Mad Queen. I just watched the final episode of the Big Bang Theory with it's happy ending before going to bed, and got swept up in the feeling.

It is rushed. HBO made a corporate decision to end the show before the stories played out, reducing season 7 from 10 to 7 episodes, and dictating season 8 conclude the story in 6. That left the writers with too much story to tell in too little time.

Or Dany retains throne as mad queen..Then a sequel starts where Arya becomes the queen killer and Game of Thrones 2 starts all over again with new characters after he finally writes the books..lol

That left the writers with too much story to tell in too little time. Yes, I understand that. What I don't understand is the reasoning.... I mean GoT is a cash cow, it has gotten HBO more subscribers than anything else they offer. Why would you toss all that away so suddenly, and without proper resolution. I'm sure I am one of many thousands of people who only have held onto their HBO subscription because of GoT. I'm going to finish out the Chernobyl mini-series then cancel. If they mess up the ending, it will put a real hurting on their ability to be successful with their prequel they are planning, which will already have a hard time living up to the hype of GoT.

Jon would still be the rightful heir, but only because at that point Tyrion would be a bastard. However, if Jon were to legitimize Tyrion, the rules of succession would be slightly more clouded, as Rhaegar was never actually King.
