Well, the Tulsa Oilers just forced a game 7 vs the Toledo Walleye in the ECHL conference finals...maybe that will brighten things up out there! smile

At approximately 2:19 a.m., BAFD was dispatched to 6600 E. Albany St. in northeast Broken Arrow in response to a vehicle that had been swept off the roadway by fast-moving water. When firefighters arrived on scene, they found an adult male clinging to a fence post and unable to escape the raging water.

He had been there for about 5 hours when someone heard him calling for help. This is in the town I live in, about 4 miles from my house.

I had a great uncle that died in a flood. In Georgia. He decided to drive across a flooded bridge - water flowing over it.

I also was able to hear a guy by the name of Robert Rogers talk at our church a number of years ago.

Interesting coincidence.

I was thinking of Rodgers (& Hammerstein) when I heard about Oklahoma's weather this morning.

They wrote the musical OKLAHOMA!

So, Tulsa. 'Nother Saturday night in Oklahoma?

Just missed a tornado by about 2 miles from my house, 25 minutes ago...southwest Missouri. I was sweating it out as it looked like it would be a direct hit on my neighborhood.

Actually didn't even think about DawgTalkers for about a half hour.

Well, now we know that it was serious.

Glad you and yours are OK.

The scary thing is when flooding is combined with a tornado, and your basement, or other safety area for a tornado, is flooded.

So... last night, I played 3 sets of Radiohead covers at Fleetwood's Tap Room. Place is right across the street from 5/3 field. Ist set is over, I step outside for a breath of fresh. A roar goes up from the stands, but I could see through the fences that no Mud Hens were on the field.

The stands were about 20% full, with no game in progress. Then I see it: the Walleye game was being streamed to the JumboTron over 3rd base... and they'd just scored their second goal.

I go back inside to start the second set. Took the mic from our 1st vlnst, and announce to the entire bar:

"Ladies & gentlemen, I have a public service announcement: with 6 minutes remaining in the first period, Toledo Walleye 2, Tulsa 0."

The place went nutz.
It was a fun night of jamz, surrounded by lots of very happy people.

Came home, looked up the final score, went to bed feeling quite satisfied.

good times.

Sorry. No offense was intended.
I had no idea you were a 'head. Had I known, I might have PM'd you.

I rarely SSP on here for upcoming gigs. Always seemed a bit mercenary, since I come here as a Browns fan, primarily.

Next time, I'll PM you in advance. We may reprise the joint some time in the future.

Since you brought up Radiohead.... for years I would hear Creep on the radio, not knowing who did it... So I googled it not long ago and found out that it was released in 1994 or something. Radiohead had been on my periphery for years, but I didn't know they'd been around so long.

Lol, I used to be on top of modern music. Now I'm years behind the times!

Creep was the last tune we played on the date.
The crowd went batzazz nutz.

I'm like you, in a way. I'd always known about them, but never really checked them out. I started a crash-course 3 weeks ago (YouTube is my friend-), and certainly understand their appeal.

Our next project is 'The Juliet Letters' by Elvis Costello. We have a very talented guy on our staff that call pull off the vocals, and we've already done a reading of the suite, about a year ago.

I think the next joint after that is gonna be Pink Floyd. At least, there's talk of such. I'll be lobbying for MIDI instruments/soundboard for that one. With MIDI, you can make a violin sound like a drum kit, a cello sound like a sax, etc. Total fakeout.

Guess we'll see.

Anyways, this thread hijack should come to an end. All other convos should be in PM's. It's only right and proper.

Tulsa: I hope you survived. Ma Nature don't play.

It's been a bad night around here with the weather. Got relatives in Celina right near where the tornado is said to have gone through and had another one in Miami County come close to my place of employment

Thanks Clem. I'm good here but Celina in Mercer County got hit hard along with Southern Miami County and Northern Montgomery County. Channel 7 is reporting that close to 40 people have been treated at area hospitals for injuries due to these tornadoes with 1 fatality reported in Celina. At one time they were tracking 4 different tornadoes in the Miami Valley.

Just saw some pictures on Facebook from Celina and they show houses with complete roofs and in some cases 2nd stories blown off, plus vehicles that look like they were in accidents.

The sad thing Clem is that video doesn't even show the worst of it in Celina, some homes are a total loss. They have confirmed that the tornado that went through northern Montgomery County was an EF3 tornado.
