Realistically speaking, if people were held in prison for being hateful weirdos on social media, then half the country would be in jail.

Lets go back to the real world where people commit actual crimes that they go to prison for.

Not imaginary land of imaginary crimes.

I'll try again. Look at this:

Quote:

A man who threatened to murder “as many girls” as he could see may escape a jail sentence, despite pleading guilty to a charge of attempted threat of terrorism.

Christopher Cleary wrote a detailed Facebook post about how he planned to become “the next mass shooter” in January 2019.

The 27-year-old described himself as a virgin who had never had a girlfriend.

He also said he wanted to make the fact that so many women had turned him down “right” by going on a shooting spree, according to documents filed by Provo Police.

Cleary was arrested on 19 January after publishing the Facebook post.

A few questions:

--Do we want to blame guns for mass shootings or do we want to blame how our system ignores potential shooters?

--Is threatening to shoot people an act of terrorism or not?

--Should terrorists be stopped before they commit their crimes or should we wait until after the fact and then blame guns?

There is a glimmer of hope for this case...I missed this when I originally read it:

Quote:
Pam Russell, a spokeswoman for the Utah’s county prosecutor’s office, said once the case was concluded Cleary would be returned to Colorado.

Prosecutors in Denver will seek to revoke his probation and send him to prison in relation for the stalking and harassment cases, she added.

This guy is a psychopath. He's a stalker with an identified victim pool. He's committed crimes and should be punished.

If anyone's interested, there's a book called "Violence Risk and Threat Assessment" by Dr. Reid Meloy. It's a fascinating read by one of the most prominent forensic psychologists in this country. I had the opportunity to attend a seminar by Dr. Meloy, and this guy really knows his stuff. He dives headfirst into what makes the violent mind tick, and there's a chapter where he organizes traits and symptoms into a scoring system to predict the likelihood of someone being violent.

And into the forest I go, to lose my mind and find my soul.

No worries Vers. Would never think of wanting to fight you. Have a good one, sorry I screwed up your thread, even though I'm doing it now, sorry!

I think it's best I just retire this account because I'm just not sure this is for me. Have a good one Vers, and thanks.

I don't think there is an incel movement. I think that's part of the problems with incels, inability to create interpersonal relationships. I think ignoring the incel aspect is a bit shortsighted, especially in cases based around rampant misogyny. I think oversimplifying the problem is extremely dangerous. This guy isn't a threat to society, he's a threat to women in society. When he targets someone, they won't resemble the majority of this forum. If we're too afraid to admit that or are too self involved with our own victimhood, then we'll never get a real answer.

Not many years ago, there were several internet marketers killing it with 'how to pick up women' ebooks and courses. I never actually seen the material but it was probably as far off the mark as these guys are with developing relationships. Hating women because they won't just have sex with you on command... what the hell is wrong with these guys?

I think much of it has to do with electronics and screens. Social media and online time has replaced almost all real life for a generation of guys who would have struggled under normal circumstances due to being socially awkward or straight up ugly/nasty/dumb/or any other reason women avoid them.

I never had a problem finding a girl. Hell I helped several of my buddies hook up too. But our lives were 100% real world and we were exposed to real girls/women daily. Imagine only getting that opportunity once or twice a month/year and trying to work through these issues. And guys who think like this are too stupid to realize it's happening to girls too. The population is over half female, there is a girl out there for everybody that wants one, all they have to do is put in the work to get themselves a real relationship.

One bad thing the #MeToo movement has done is make asking coworkers out on a date much riskier/not worth the issues.

Used to be if you weren't afraid to talk to women, you see one that catches your eye pretty much anywhere, you approach and ask for her number or strike up conversation eventually asking them out. I can't imagine it's that much more difficult today.

I had one buddy in the Navy and his whole game was numbers. He'd straight up tell them all he wanted was sex, no cuddling or BS strings after. 9 times out of 10 he was shot down or smacked in the face, but there was alway number 10 somewhere in every crowd. He had no problem doing that to 20+ women a night until one took the bait. He actually got a lot of girlfriends that way, and it would not go over well today. lol

A lot of the PUA guys advice can be just to neg girls (insult them, compliment their friends, give them backhanded compliments) with the intent to try to psychologically trick them into trying to impress you. I really don't think it works as well as they make it out to be.

I'm so torn on this topic, because there's a lot of ways to address the issue with modern dating. In many ways, it's harder than ever before, but it's also extremely easy if you're a somewhat normal person. The internet makes it easier, even if meeting people in real life has become harder. I rarely meet any women at bars, or met girls in class when I went to school, instead I've always had a lot of success on dating apps like tinder and bumble. Sliding into girls' DMs is also a valid strategy. I'm currently talking to a girl from England who I saw on a youtube video. Originally it was kinda just a joke, but she's a nice girl with a posh sense of humor and I enjoy calling her a friend. I'm sure we'll meet up when I go to Europe next time. But I think Tinder and Bumble have made it much easier to meet women. At my worst, I kind of view the two apps as games, how many matches can I get in a day. How addicted am I to being self assured by women about myself? It can get pretty dark sometimes, but I've met tons of friends off the two apps, and I've been dating one I've met on Bumble for about a month now and it's going well.

I think dudes too afraid to talk to women at work are just using #MeToo as an excuse to not talk to women, because they're very scared of talking to women in real life. Same with bosses who refuse to mentor female employees in fear of getting #MeToo. It really tells more of what they expect out of women than any real fear of rampant career opportunism, which is my major beef with the #MeToo movement.

Again, there's so much to talk about in regards to the culture of dating and relationships, especially among people my age and younger. I had a friend, who I completely agree with, she said that heterosexuality contains so much shame, because a lot of it -- especially now, due to the influence gay culture has had on heterosexual relationship, where promiscuity is seen as a good thing, for both sexes -- is all about basing the start of relationships by focusing on the other person's genitals. Like women only want the D, and men only want to hit it and quit it as well. And I think a lot of people think that is traditionally wrong, so there's a lot of shame based around this.

And this is where a lot of Incels really begin having pathological neurotic problems. Because they think that women are just sleeping around with anyone and everyone, but they can't get laid. In reality, xennials, millennial and zoomers are having less sex than anyone before them. But these incels think that they're so not desirable in the slightest (true), and are retaliating against women's sexual liberation by trying to shame them for wanting to sleep around with anyone but them. So they now begin to hate women because they don't think women will ever find them desirable, and are still shocked, that even with that philosophy and psychology that no women will ever sleep with them. It's disgusting. I honestly have started hating men because of incels and how my generation deal with women at an interpersonal level.

Thanks for the information. I completely agree w/you that this guy is a psychopath and an immense threat to young women and girls.

I'm hoping the prosecutor's office can get his probation revoked. It's best to stop him from committing future crimes instead of crying about it after he does something even more unsavory than he already has.

No offense taken. And I certainly know what you mean about wondering if this place to be or not.
