And yet the state’s rapists will get rights to see their offspring. Alabama is a backwater. This changes nothing.

Just shoot them and be done with it...no prison sentence...a .45 ACP round is about 24 cents a piece...just shoot these sickos and be done with it, this is just a waste of money and resources...your never going to fix these broken sickos.

Snappy comeback. Did you go to school in Alabama? If you had you would have been the ‘tallest midget’.

I really wish Alabama would try to fix any of their gaping needs rather than continue focusing on punitive punishments for people.

Chemical castration and castration are very different. The thread title is a little click baity. I actually thought chemical castration was already a therapy method to prevent the urges pedophiles have and should have been a condition of their release/rehabilitation treatment.
There sure seem to be a lot of pedo accusations made toward powerful men in this country. The guy a few years ago that was supposedly running the ring that involved Bill Clinton and Trump... Jeffery something I think his name was. How that guy got away without facing the music was sickening.

I believe (not sure) that they do chemical castration as a therapy method, but that's only if they person agrees to have it done. This would be a sentence and forced on anyone CONVICTED of child molestation. There does seem to be a lot of accusations made toward powerful people. But there are also a lot of powerful people that do it. Church leaders, the Anthony Wieners of the world, etc. etc. I have 0 remorse for a child molester and would have no problem with the death penalty for those convicted.

Yeah, we never allow threads to expand in their content. You are actually talking about legislation in Alabama. So it's within the bounds of reason to discuss other legislation, or the lack there of in the state........ The Unique Hell Of Fighting Your Rapist For Custody The 25-year-old Floridian’s case certainly isn’t unique — at present, there are seven U.S. states where women can legally be forced to share custody with their rapist. As there is no legislation stopping rapists from pursuing custody or visitation rights, this legal loophole means that rapists are legally allowed to claim partial or full custody in states such as Mississippi, Alabama, New Mexico, and Wyoming. https://theestablishment.co/the-unique-h...52b3/index.htmlThat's just a single paragraph from the article highlighting states that do not protect the mothers in such cases. It's odd though. You seem to have no problem with posting about punishing sexual offenders, of which I agree with you. You seem to have no problem posting about forcing women to bare children. But when it comes to protecting victims of rape from their assailants, that's where you draw the line?

I’m honestly not sure if I posted about trump and his ‘crap hole country’ ramblings. If I didn’t I’ll say now as a world leader he should show more class... but showing class is beyond him. So I don’t expect it. To add, since we have low educated, low income, high poverty states such as Alabama maybe trump should be focusing his attention there instead of belching forth hatred onto struggling 2nd and 3rd world countries. America first, right?

Dozens of men and boys are arrested on charges ranging from lewd behaviour to sodomy, and the state legislature responds by passing a law allowing for the forced sterilization of "sexual perverts". The year was 1912. The place was Portland, Oregon Sounds like Alabama's proposed law. Except the crime - homosexuality. I'm sure the gorillas at the time sounded just like many of the posts above: "Let's hang 'em. No trial needed."

You’re correct. Portland has an issue with homelessness. It’s tragic to see. Unfortunately with our mild climate and history of strong social programs many have found a ‘safe haven’ in our city. The high cost of housing has also driven many to living in vehicles. The working poor. Portland is much like many major cities. It’s not utopia. But I’ll take it over backward looking states like Alabama any day of the week. According to the UN Alabama has the worst poverty in the developed world. Read that last line again and let it sink in. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.newsweek.com/alabama-un-poverty-environmental-racism-743601%3famp=1 For the record... I no longer live in Portland proper. After my divorce I moved to the edge of town. Technically I should be called MilwaukieDawg.

Barbara Streisand and Diana Ross... are already on record defending what Michael Jackson did.. Quentin Tarantino continues to get standing ovations everywhere he goes even though he did nothing with the knowledge that Harvey Weinstein was a sexual predator... Trump has obviously admitted to all kinds of misconduct with women.. So, when it comes to defending women and children against the wealthy and powerful... we are on the way!!!!!

I'm certainly not in favor of anything that promotes pedophilia, but it was popular and legal in Roman and Greek civilizations if I recall correctly. It was normalized then, so there is no telling what will happen in the future in this crazy ass world. If the GOPers put the right incel in office, we might all wake up one morning living in the Handmaid's tale (pedo-lite version).

I agree with exactly what you're saying.
But I've always understood how things work. There's always been, "Just US" for the wealthy who can afford a great lawyer. That can spin a great yarn. Those people who can be sued by people and stretch things out in court until their opponent goes broke. Never actually having to pay for the wrongs they have committed. Those people who are so rich they can sign a contract with a bank and then turn around and re-negotiate it after the fact.
Then there's "Justice" for some of the rest of us. Then of course there's "No Justice" for those who are forced to have a public defender because they're so poor.
When people get a grasp on that, things are much easier to understand.

On the surface....I can certainly see how people could get behind this....
but when you consider that a quick google search gives you numbers of wrongly convicted Americans estimated to be nearly 10,000 people per year....this coupled with the fact that criminal justice reform is a hot button issue every year, and we have prosecutors more interested in conviction rates than achieving justice.....
It gives me a very hard time supporting the death penalty, or a punishment like this....
Are child molesters terrible people, sure.....is child molestation a despicable crime, of course it is.....
Do I have faith in the justice system to get the correct verdict at a high enough rate to support castrating a guilty party....definitely not....and, from my perspective, government sanctioned castration of wrongly convicted people is nearly as bad as the crime in which they are accused of committing....
Suppose you knew someone who simply was railroaded in their trial, couldn't afford an adequate defense, didn't understand the seriousness of their situation, was a victim of false accusations or mistaken identity......would you feel ok with a simple apology...sorry about your luck.....try to have a decent life....absolutely not...it would be a travesty....
I never understood how you talk to people, you ask them, do you trust your politicians, do you trust your government? Do you trust either of them absolutely?
Most folks say hell no....
But then you ask them if they support the death penalty, and they are gung ho.....definitely...
So you don't trust the government....unless its aim is to kill someone---then the answer is absolutely...100%
Its crazy....
I wish to wash my Irish wristwatch......

Its crazy.... Its chemical castration. It can be reversed easily. They arent chopping off the balls. If you want to complain about our legal system, then that is a different argument. But if they are only doing this in an airtight case, I dont have a problem with it. Child molesters are sick, sick, people. What is your proposed punishment to people who rape children?
