Let us never forget that horrible day now 6 years past, nor forget the lives stolen away because of the fanaticism of a few mass murderers intent on demonstrating their inhumanity. hatred, and utter malevolance.

An archived list of those murdered that day

Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.

And the sick thing is, you know Osama Bin Crackhead is going to release another video or something today in remembrance. Why oh why can we not find this idiot and deliver him to Allah in a sandwich bag.

YTown thank you for remembering. To many people forget what happened that day which changed all our lives. We are Americans and the threat is still alive and well. My wish for this upcoming year is that we realize that something bigger could come our way soon and not let our guard down. Please remember the people that perished that day and don't ever think that it could not happen again.

Just wait till next season, I have heard that for over 40 years!

Thanks for the post YTown. I know my life as I knew it changed that day, and I don't believe that anyone could honestly say that it didn't change their life.. RIP to everyone killed in the 9/11 attacks. Also thank you to all of the firefighters and officers who helped in the rescue efforts around the clock. You guys are the true heroes in this country.

About a year ago, I came across audio of an emergency call from someone in the south tower talking to the operator. The site also had a "real-time" pan shot of the towers, and he was still on the phone as the tower collapsed. It was surreal.

Still remember the day, was at work, listening to Howard Stern talking about Pan Anderson, when Ralph calls in and tells them to look out the window. To his credit, Stern stayed on the air well into the 11am hour, and was getting the details ahead of CNN in many cases.

Same here. I was driving to work in downtown Akron listening to Stern and remember them saying "What moron can't see the WTC?", talking about the plane hitting the tower. My thought was it was a small plane. When I got into the stadium bar I noticed the size of the fire. Not even 1 minute later I watched the 2nd plane fly in live and knew it was on purpose. Then the collapses, the pentagon, and then all the false reports of car bombs. I knew we were at war and I was enraged, mad, sad, a whole ball of emotion. I just wanted to kill, cry,,,I just never want to feel that way again.
I also remember smoking a cigarette outside and looking up to see not one plane in the air. Every TV channel, radio station, even the beacon journal had a big headline at 4:00 "Who Did This?"

RIP to those we lost that day! I will never forget,,ever! Just watching the footage brings back the anger and sadness and it's a shame b/c I really believe a lot of our fellow citizens have moved on.

What a day it was, who can forget the emotions tied to it. Fear, anger, sadness, confusion, disbelief, I think we felt them all.

But as is our human nature, we carry on, we learn from these events, and we push forward, especially after an event like this, to show the perpetrators that they're actions will not bring us down, it just makes us stronger and more united.

When you stop to think about it, it really makes you sad to think that, on this giant ball of mud, we can't all just accept each other for who we are, and live in our individual areas in peace. That they're are people out there that hate someone they do not even know for a variety of reasons, Race, Nationality, Religion, Lifestyle, etc.

Thank you to all the people in the Armed Services who defend our country everyday, and thank you to the humanitarians that try to do good throughout the world.

One of my best friends was in the second tower of the WTC. I didn't even know anything was going on until someone at work told me that two planes had hit the WTC. I remember going to watch the news, and I was watching live when they reported about the plane in PA and watching live when the towers collapsed.

My buddy made it out ok. They were in the process of evacuating when the 2nd plane hit. He said he was on about the 20th floor or so at that point. He said it shook the whole building and the concrete walls in the stairway cracked down the middle. Unfortunately, with the way the cell service was then, we didn't find out he was ok until the afternoon.

I think the things that stuck out to me were:

1) Getting an "extra" newspaper. I've never gotten one before;
2) Seeing no planes in the sky;
3) EVERY radio station and TV station had it on (except for Nickelodeon, I think);
4) Everyone being nice to each other driving home;
5) Seeing the firemen in the streets for weeks after collecting money, and every single car giving them money;
6) Laying in bed that night thinking to myself that if I woke up in the morning and heard that Los Angeles had been nuked, or something huge like that, I wouldn't be surprised. Anything was possible in my mind after what I saw.

The defining moment of my generation, as well as generations to come.

Never forget.

That was Kevin Cosgrove, and yeah it's pretty damn surreal alright.

In 2006 I did a work project related to Sept. 11 and spoke with a New York Daily News photographer. He gave me a blow-by-blow account of what he saw that morning, and sent me a dozen or so photos he took from the ground, one of them a shot of a church with Tower 2 in the background, just before the tower collapsed (#2 was the first to fall IIRC).

One of the things that stayed with me was him talking about the jumpers, and seeing a firefighter killed when a jumper fell on him. I won't forget that guy for a long long time.

Wow thats scary. I knew a buddy of mine from the service was in the NYPD and I tried calling him and couldn't get thru. I kept getting "all circuits are busy" and thought in my head he was trapped in the rubble, phone on, he needs help. But here it was b/c of the volume of calls coming in and going out of NYC. Another freaky thing was I had a HF radio and I was hearing live the rescue efforts and the health and wellness traffic coming out of NYC. The net was alive with emotion as they kept saying names of people that had no other method except ham radio to tell loved ones they were OK. I could hear the police traffic and the military aircraft coordinating efforts and all of the false reports of more aircraft and bomb threats being radioed in. It was a weird feeling I had that entire day. I remember for the first time I needed my President to tell me everything was going to be OK. I am sure it was a feeling of emptiness , fear, sadness, and extreme anger my grandpa felt after Pearl harbor and my mom felt when she told me how she cried when JFK was assassinated.
I kept that first Beacon Journal I got the afternoon of 9-11. I try not to be a racist person but going to The University of Akron at the time was had a lot of Arabic students around my house and I was staring all of them down, giving them all dirty looks. When I went to the Zip Store on Exchange I could see the sadness and fear the guys that owned the store had knowing most Americans would be pissed at everyone Arabic. It was crazy and I hope I never feel that way again.

I'll never forget, my cousin's birthday is today, and my birthday is tomorrow...damn Bin Laden ruined my birthday.

Anyway...we'll never forget what happened that day, we may not dwell on it anymore, and I don't think we should, but it'll never be forgotten!

ndutyme tomorrow is also my daughters 3rd birthday. I was happy it wasn't 9-11. Celebrating something on 9/11 will always be overshadowed by that day.

I have been watching MSNBC all morning. It is their coverage minute for minute from 9-11-01 It still seems like a movie.

My sister has been thier, she said the feeling standing there looking over into that field is unreal, she said her & others get a feeling so strong of anger, why did it happen, how did it happen she said it's alomst like the feeling at the end of planet of the apes when Charlton Heston see's the staute of liberty on the rocks, it's almost like this couldnt have happened here, it cant happen here, but it did, The owner of the field leaves it the exact same way it was on 9-11-01, he walks around the field and still finds parts of the plane, and other items. All items go to the goverment no matetr how big or small. My sister said it's a place everybody need to go

I remember the day so clearly. I was in college at Kent State. I remember walking to my Spanish class that morning after watching what had happened (classes weren't cancelled until noon). There were about 10 people sitting outside the classroom. I asked if they had heard what had happened and nobody had. I told them all and you could see tears in all of our eyes. We all just sorta formed a group hug in the hallway (one of the girls was from NYC). We took that stupid Spanish test and all of us walked out together to the student center to watch what was happening. We spent that entire day together and remain pretty good friends now after drawing together during that.

KSU had a honorary service the following night in the plaza which was tearful, but not nearly as much as that Friday, the national day of mourning. The ceremony was held in the MACC and it was full with students. I can remember the speeches that were given and most of all I remember that they brought in this tenor with a great voice to sing a few hymns. His final number was Let There Be Peace on Earth (And Let It Begin With Me). To this day I cannot hear that song without crying.

Thoughts and prayers to the loved ones still coping with this tragedy...

That is so surreal... This was the first time I saw it, and I just sat there at the end for maybe a minute or so.

It's been six years, and we shouldn't dwell on attacks. But nobody should ever forget about that day, the 2,974 men and women who lost their lives, and the feelings we shared with each other. I just turned on MSNBC too 337, brings back so many memories. I was in school when the attacks happened, and we weren't really allowed to hear any news. I remember getting home and running to the TV, and not being able to watch anything else for days. The fear and confusion we felt... Really puts things in perspective.

We should never forget.

Probably one of the most disturbing things I've ever seen/heard. You can't duplicate things like that in movies or on TV.

Oh, I agree.

I saw another video yesterday of people jumping. On one of the jumps, the camera followed them all the way down until they hit the ground. I didn't know there was any footage of that. I nearly puked.

This image, along with the first video of an innocent man being be-headed will forever be burned into my brain.

What a day to remember... Each year, us military folk set aside time for moments of silence and rememberence vigil's, well to day we were locked down because of some terrorist related intel...

Needless to say, we weren't able to honor the fallen the same way today as we usually did but it was still in our hearts...

Sadly, the fight continues 6 long years later as we try to bring all of these terrorists to justice...

On a side note, say a prayer for my small base here in Germany that we find these turds that are roaming my neighborhood and catch the rest of their "cell"...

Being a flight attendant for American Airlines for 16 years, it will always be remembered. I knew one colleague that was on that flight and I was Blessed on that day because I was on vacation here at home. When the first plane hit, I knew something was wrong. It was the first time my kids seen me cry. I had just got transferred to Dallas from Boston less than a year before this tragedy happened. Please not only remember the brave firemen, policemen, soldiers and people that gave their lives on the ground, but those crew members and passengers that were in the air that day who had to first deal with these evil men. I know for fact that when the Boston plane frist took off, the hijackers slashed the throats of the flight attendants in their jumpseats. because the way some of the jumpseats are positoned (facing forward), some of the flight attendants were snuck up on after takeoff and didn't see it coming before it was too late. When I sit on the jumpseats on the same aircraft when working, I sit and wonder about those moments those people went through. If not for one flight attendants phone call to the MOD in Boston about where the men were seated before the first plane hit, it might have taken longer to find out who these men were. ALWAYS REMEMBER...

this is indeed a day to remember those lost in and those that survived the attacks...

I know that people that were associated with those that committed these acts would say they were heros,,, but to the rest of the world, they are cowards, guttless men on a fools mission.

I haven't said anything because all of this pisses me off.

We should show this stuff everyday for people to remember rather than just once a year.

Hunt the rats down and burn them...I don't care if it takes 25 years.

The more I think about it the more it frustrates the hell out of me. Hundreds maybe even thousands of innocent people were just trying to have a normal day and some monsters didnt even care. Those people had families but those monsters didnt care. They didnt even care for their own lives. Good riddance!

That enya song always reminds me of 9-11.

This tribute is similar and I have it bookmarked and watch it every 9-11 and sometimes just b/c. I agree Peen, it does seem like the hurt has faded over time and people choose to put it behind them, but I don't. I can't. It effected me in a way I hope I never feel again.
