Since we're in the lull before training camp and the active subjects of discussion are few I'm offering this question. Disclosure, it was asked on one of the Browns facebook group pages, even still it was interesting, to me.
Question. If you could bring back a historical Browns' player to place on the current roster who would it be? Let's go one offense and one defense. Although I don't expect you guys to observe that limit, LOL.
I delivered the Plain Dealer in junior high and part of high school. Every morning I would read the sports page before heading out on the route. All week I would read how the next opposing team was planning to stop Jim Brown.
They all had a great plan until number 32 actually hit the field. ====================================================
On defense it would have to be Clay Mathews.
It wasn't about big hits or highlights with Clay. It was about being in the right place all the time. Clay flat out made plays all over the field. Great nose for the game and the ball. Could cover and fill.

I have to go with this thought process as well. I believe that in the teams history there may well be players just as, if not more deserving of being brought back. But for this team, at this moment, these would be the two I would select to best help our team today.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.
whats funny is JT could actually come back right now and help. I kinda wish he would, he deserves to be a part of this run
Tomorrow is the most important thing in life. Comes into us at midnight very clean. It's perfect when it arrives and it puts itself in our hands. It hopes we've learned something from yesterday. -John Wayne
Imo had a chance to be mentioned with the all time greats. Tragic.
On O?
Phil Dawson.....
.....cause Kickers are O.
Remember walking to this game. Huge gust of wind on west 3rd bridge wiped out about 70-80 of the roughly 200+ fans on it at the time. Watching Dawson pregame, he was practicing 45+ yard fg's and have to kick the ball almost outta bounds and let the wind take it to the goalposts.
O runner up?
Greg Pruitt
The tear aways, etc, etc. On pins/needles every time he returned a kick, punt.
So, those are my 2. 1 on Offense and 1 on Defense.

It would be great if he were 10 years younger. I mean it literally.. he was an especially dominant player around 2009 if I remember correctly.
Age takes a toll though and it's not the same for everybody. He might be 250 lb right now with shot knees.. I don't know if any degree of skill could realistically overcome that at this point. The NFL is a tough league.
Steve Everitt. He NEVER stopped giving everything he had in a crappy time. He stuck with us fans until the end and is my definition of a Cleveland Brown! He'd be deserving of leading us into good times!
I am going to lean towards need when I choose these two guys, but will not solely depend on it.
LT: Joe Thomas. Many have listed him, but let's get real. He was one of the greatest ever at LT in the NFL and it is a position of need. I think Jim Brown was the best Brown ever, but we need a LT way more than a RB.
CB: I'm torn between Mighty Minni and Hanford. I think Minnifield might have been a bit better in coverage down the field, but Hanford's physical presence was something else. I'll go w/Hanford because he was my favorite Brown back in the day. But, Minni was just as good.
Cool to see everybody having fun with this. I'm sticking with my picks because as I've said most of the offseason I'm concerned about our interior D line depth. But, if I was going to go with one of my favorite defensive players it would be the underappreciated Felix Wright. Dude was sneaky good.
Defense: Michael Dean Perry. Man, he would rock in today's game that requires pressure up the middle.
Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.
John 14:19 Jesus said: Because I live, you also will live.
I"m wanting to watch Jim Brown in action. No way I'm picking an olineman over witnessing arguably the best running back of all time, the great Jim Brown.
Offense? No debate from me it would be Jim Brown. Consider what he could have been with modern training methods and nutrition. I strongly suspect his quality of life in the NFL would have been better as well.

What would very interesting is to imagine Paul Brown and Otto Graham coming into the NFL today.
Both were incredibly dominant personalities. Both legends of the game.
Paul had a mind like a steel trap. Brought pro football into the modern era. He was Belichick before Belicheck was born. Otto was tough as nails. Dominated as a player and advanced the passing game to an art.
