Who cares what they look like, if they raise up their charity?

Do you not understand what good they are doing in the world?

Here is a link, since you cant seem to get it

And then go drag yourself in a hole.

And maybe you should make a donation.

Are people actually going to watch this garbage? I mean there’s actual fireworks going off in every town across the land. There’s food and family in every backyard. Who’s watching the TV on the forth? Who’s going to watch this nonsense except trump cucks?

Lol ....the WH is having problems filling the seats. Can’t wait for the really huge numbers. Bigger than anything anyone has ever seen in DC. Bigger than Obama’s hands!

When I was in the Navy a bunch of us went to DC on the 4th. Had a great time. Different times, people were united. We danced and laughed with Johnny Cash.

Really? Easily amused are you? Strange because I didn’t think the clown show in the WH was amusing to you at all.

Where are y’all getting this stupid ass idea that I don’t want to celebrate the 4th? When is the last time we had a military parade on the 4th? Why now?

And who said anything about not enjoying fireworks or racism about a PARADE? Man y’all would never be saying this kind of crap to me if I was a white dude. Happy 4th I hope it rains on all of y’all and ruins the day.

It's just a parade. Uh huh. But it turned political - it's not a celebration of the USA if Trump is excluding some, inviting his cronies. Name another country where they parade their tanks and military through their streets in the last 50 years? The list would be made up entirely of dictatorships and tin pot despot countries where they are so insecure they need to show their strength to the masses....

"It's just a parade" .... sure.

93 million for a parade. It’s almost as if that 92 mill could’ve gone to the national emergency he declared or something.

ABC, CBS, and NBC have other plans for broadcasting when the parade is set to begin...CNN and MSNBC will not show the event.

However, Fox News, which "dominates" cable news, plans to air the entire spectacular, including Trump's speech at the Lincoln Memorial, the flyovers, and more. PBS and C-SPAN will also broadcast the multiple events.

Now you know which channel to watch, so here is the schedule. (All times Eastern Daylight Savings.)

National Independence Day Parade
(Constitution Avenue NW from 7th Street to 17th Street NW)
11:45 A.M.–2 P.M.

Salute to America
Lincoln Memorial
6:30–7:30 P.M.

A Capitol Fourth Concert
West Lawn the U.S. Capitol
8–9:30 P.M.

Fireworks Display
National Mall
9:07-9:42 P.M.

Enjoy!!

I have zero problems with a celebration for the 4th of July. I don't mind the military being involved. I certainly feel this was thrown together last minute and that most families already have traditions in their home towns and with their families. So I don't expect this to me something that will draw the attention of most Americans anyway.

What I do have concerns with is what concerns many people. We have already seen him give special accommodations to his big donors. That makes it more political than anything else at this juncture. I have concerns he will make his speech political. Let's face it, he can't appear at the G20 summit or have a press conference with Putin without getting in his political digs.

So will this be a patriotic speech to give gratitude to our forefathers and to speak about the birth of our nation? Or will it evolve into the typical Trump political rally?

If it turns into the typical Trump, "Me, me, me" type of thing, he needs to pay the bill.

I mean it's been two and a half years and he still hasn't paid the bill for his inauguration. He really did mean he was the king of debt I suppose.

Don't pretend you wouldn't have supported it if Obama did the same parade because he's your guy. You wouldn't have said a damn thing and you know it.

I think it's more telling that Swish never had to even think about something like that.

And Obama had 8 opportunities to put him in that position- and never did.

Tanks, indeed.

I always find it interesting that these days we don't discuss what is best for country but whether "our guy" would be ridiculed if "their guy" did the same thing. The tribalism is eye roll inducing.

I play'em all the time. They are in constant rotation.

All the service themes.
Battle Hymn
God Bless America
America The Beautiful

and of course, any of at least 2 dozen "Star Spangled Salute" type
medlies.

They still have universal appeal at the venues that request them. I've done them so much (since I was a kid), I now do stuff like:

analyze the chord structure/piece architecture in my head ("...and here we come back around to the main theme- time for da big boffo finish...")
watch the audience's reactions
subtly make eye contact with and make faces at- other colleagues
look for tats in the front row

...you get the point, I'm sure.

It's one of the aspects of doing this stuff for our daily kibble. We all do it, and the crowd is none the wiser. It's a win/win: we have a way to get through the 'jukebox aspect' of the job;the crowd gets their emotional experience.

I'm not sure than any of us actually get 'that rush' from doing these pieces, but that's OK. The rush is supposed to be for the audience. Like you said- you don't get to hear this every day. That makes it special for you. On the flip...

There is a version of 'Battle Hymn of the Republic' that has become the gold standard. It's been arranged for orchestra, concert band, SATB choir, orch/choir, band/choir... the arrangement dates back to before 1940. I played the orch version this past Memorial Day week at a little local church. While I was playing it, I was quietly singing the baritone chorister's part to myself. How did I know this part?

Because I sang it on the steps of the U.S. Capitol in 1973, when I was a member of a boy's choir sponsored by our local Rotary Club.

Same damn arrangement.
In 1973.
In 2019.

Think of it this way: there is a guy who works the line at your favorite steak house. You LOVE this steak house. It's an expensive steak house, because it's a gooood steak house. You only get to go to this high-end steak house every once in awhile, so it's def an event. Grrl- you look forward to that steak. When you hear the waiter describe the cut, your mouth begins to water.

You get that steak.
You love that steak.

I'm that guy on the line who gets paid to sear meat for you.

And get this: we don't hate the stuff. Not at all. We just know the ingredients/techniques/steps that make it so great for you.
It feels like magic, but it's built upon a scaffold of sciences and skills.

When you walk away from my gig feeling as satisfied as you do from that steak house, we have both done our jobs.

I'm glad you got some good from the music. We live to change heart rates.

People actually watched this on the TV? Meanwhile the sun was shining, there were local firework displays in every town across the country, a grill in every back yard... etc. Yet some still sat in their couch and watched this nonsense?
Strange. Watching fireworks on tv would be like watching a strip club live feed. Fruitless.
Watching trump speak... well, I work in geriatrics. I spend much of my workday caring for memory care types of patients. I hear enough senseless rambling in my 9-5 to last a lifetime.

From his speech yesterday...
“...Valley Forge, found glory across the waters of the Delaware and seized victory from Cornwallis of Yorktown.

"Our Army manned the air, it rammed the ramparts, it took over the airports, it did everything it had to do, and at Fort McHenry, ...”

Our army took over the airports? During the Revolutionary War?
Really?
