I thought this thread would be about John Dorsey ... maybe someday soon
In all seriousness, what a day that was
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."
Penicillin is definitely one of the greatest discoveries/innovations of all time.
But the thing about the moon landing was the concerted effort needed by hundreds of thousands of people over a decade.
How did they even do that with 1960s computer technology? (computers were the size of large rooms back then - primitive PCs weren't even invented until the late seventies.)
And the entire rocket had the precise engineering of a fine watch.
Honorable mention: - Harnessing the power of the atom (weapon and energy) - Eradicating polio, malaria, smallpox, etc. - 2016 Cavs coming back from a 3-1 deficit against the 73-win Warriors - Democracy - Voyager (1 & 2)
Yes, landing on the moon is up there or at the top. We had only invented the airplane 60 years before that.
“...Iguodala to Curry, back to Iguodala, up for the layup! Oh! Blocked by James! LeBron James with the rejection!”
“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”
2. Art (No other creature makes things culturally or purely for aesthetics and visual communication).
On a side note:
When I lived in England I was at a pub with a handful of English friends, several pints in and joking. They listed all of England's achievements to the world (however, they somehow forgot to mention their sad history of colonization, but that's typical of the English/Europeans!) they then jokingly (banter) asked me to name one thing America has given the world. My instant response was "Jazz". It was a quick reply with little thought, but to be honest...what an amazing gift to give the world. And, they all held their glasses up and said "cheers to Jazz". They thought it was a good reply and had no come back.
You ever hear the story behind this one? A guy in New Jersey was tasked with making the water cleaner for their water district. He was a physician and knew chlorine could disinfect water, but adding chemicals to drinking water at the time wasn't exactly smiled upon. So he secretly built a facility that slowly added chlorine to the aquifer, and basically used everyone in the water district as a guinea pig. Ended up working, and now everyone does it.
We’ve made communicating/traveling exponentially easier over the centuries ... teleportation next?

Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.
John 14:19 Jesus said: Because I live, you also will live.

Our ability to grow crops gave rise to the surplus of food necessary to move away from our primitive hunter/gatherer society, and instead build large permanent settlements.....It allowed for huge population growth, and it cleared the way for human ingenuity, cooperation on a large scale, and the industrial revolution as we were able to pursue other advances as the constant need to procure sustenance was no longer a primary objective of day to day life....
In the modern age, something many take for granted; indoor plumbing.....the evolution of the concept of efficiently bringing clean potable water into the home while separately removing waste water from our cities played a large role in enhancing quality of life and lengthening average lifespans throughout civilized society.....
I want to reveal the greatest accomplishment, but I think the question is too vague...........not intended to insult the OP.
I go back and forth between which accomplishment has helped society the most or what accomplishment was the hardest to accomplish or what accomplishment was the best at combing both elements.
