Okay, then riddle me this............... Quinn has been named as the back up QB just today. What happens if DA goes down in the Cincy game? Phil backs out and plays Dorsey after naming Quinn #2?
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

well, I doubt Phil would make an onfield gameday call like that as it would be stepping on RAC's toes... but my guess is that RAC would put Quinn in.
Browns is the Browns
... there goes Joe Thomas, the best there ever was in this game.

That's why I say they "think he's pretty much ready". You don't put a kid just a possible play away from being the starter if there's much doubt in your mind IMO. If DA get hurt, that "fast track" could end up turbo charged!

I am of the opinion that Quinn may not START anytime soon, but he will PLAY soon. When we switched from Dilfer to Frye, Crennel did not throw Frye in as a starter right off. He gave him a quarter here and there to get his feet wet. I see them doing the same thing with Quinn. Treat it like preseason. If the Bengals are stomping us into the ground, don't be surprised to see Quinn for a drive or two towards the end of the game. And if it doesn't happen this game, it will happen soon. They are no way in hell throwing him out there as a starter. He will get his feet wet first.
My 2 cents.

Once again Eve,Quinn IS the back up now.
If DA gets hurt,Quinn is our starter. That could happen on any down,in any game,on any snap.

Depends on when he went down. If he goes down in the 1st, 2nd or 3rd quarter Dorsey won't be able to enter the game unless they're willing to forfeit the option to put Quinn in if Dorsey were to go down too. If DA goes down in the first three quarters, they pretty much have no option but to play Brady. Ditto when we play the Rats, ditto with every other team we face from now on.

Good point.
We may see the Kerry Collins/Vince Young system at work...Young got a series every quarter before taking over full time.

So, you're saying three seperate radio station and six seperate reporters reporting something is wrong and you sitting at a messageboard with NO sources is right? That's what I thought
No offense but don't jump on a guy who might not have the ability to listen to the radio stations you do - that's why radio is not suppose to be a source on a message board... I personally haven't seen anything about Quinn not knowing the playbook either... and this is the first time I've seen a 'source' on it...

j/c... ok, please someone set me straight... the more i think about it, this throwing Quinn to the wolves fear makes less and less sense...please name 1...just 1...QB that failed b/c of being played too early, rather than b/c of some major deficit in his game... Manning succeeded b/c, well, he's the best...Rothlisberger seems pretty solid...Aikman is a HOFer...Couch MAY have had journeyman talent on the mental side of the game...Leaf was a headcase...Akili Smith? moving on... i want to protect Quinn, if there's a legit reason to protect him, but if we're throwing games down the toilet for the sake of some mythical tradition...
Browns fans are born with it...

No, it was after it I told him, he then basically said it was false because one of the stations was WKNR. Some people will deny anything to try to be right

Ok... I must have misread it... but I still hadn't seen anywhere that said he didn't know the whole playbook... but it wouldn't suprise me.

Well, I guess it is semantics. If you have to scale down the playbook and need help in the classroom, then it's pretty obvious you don't have everything down pat.

Why do they need help in the classroom? After I stated that Quinn wasn't ready with that aspect of the game, Calzone said that couldn't possibly be true.
If the BOTH need help in the classroom how come Phil said DA has the stronger arm and that they can NOW use the ENTIRE playbook.
Phil must have lied again...
Because his arm strength allows him to make all the throws, not because he knows them all by heart.
Meet the new boss, same as the old boss...

Obviously that's what Phil meant....right?? even though he never clarified his statement as such.
If I'm supposed to believe that the playbook was taught over the first 11 days of TC and DA STILL doesn't know it,....then we're in BIG BIG trouble and it would be rediculous to make him our starter.
I could care less about his STRONG arm,.....BQ has a pretty strong arm as well,....with a much better skill set.
So,...if DA doesn't know the playbook ,...it only makes perfect sense to start him over BQ...
I'm also not buying this "we need to keep him from getting hurt" BS,...if he's that damn soft why did we take him in the first round anyways.

There is no doubt about it now, it all is on DA's shoulders............as soon as he starts making costly mistakes for the team.............Quinn will be in!
Today's decision to get rid of Frye makes it quit clear..........Anderson is the starter with a short leash, he better do good.... or else the fans will be screaming for Quinn, as well as the entire team...........we have no option!
GO BROWNS!

Coach, I think that is the reason DA is still here. He can read the "D" better than Frye could(I am not sayiing he is good at it) but the best we have. Plus he releases the ball within the three second window.

Being ready to play and needing help in the classroom are two completely different things.. I'll bet Drew Brees still gets help and input in the classroom breaking down film and analyzing various things.. does that mean he isn't ready to play?
