Chrome. No adblock, because website owners pay money for hosting so you can have the pleasure of their content. They deserve to get paid.

Yeah I tried Chrome but the fonts don't look as nice in chrome. Firefox is a tad slower but you can auto clear history on shutdown and right click by home button and click customize and add bookmark button and history button and other things. On the right side of the browser at top right click button and then options and you can change visted fonts color and remove underline links. Firefox has more options and you can change it the way you like more than chrome.

I use Maxthon.

I just use Microsoft. It works well.

I used Chrome for a good while, but it got to where I couldn't pull up videos.

It depends what I'm doing and rather I want to be tracked. My primary browser is chrome with ublock origin. Sometimes I use firefox when coding, but normally it's still chrome. Tor if I'm poking around dark web sites (rarely) or want to be harder to trace. Kalibrowser or firefox ESR on kali linux if I'm pentesting/hacking because it has all the cool tools.

90% + of my time on the web I use chrome because it is well maintained, updated, and I use chrome dev tools a lot when coding.

If you are security minded but don't want to use tor, chrome based 'Brave browser' is the new hot kid on the block. There is also Epic Browser but I think it's sketchy.

Firefox, no adblock. For the most part ads don't bother, just the cost of free content. If a site goes too crazy with them, I just don't go to it anymore.

If you use Firefox type about:config in the address bar up top and go to network.http.tailing and turn it to off to make the browser faster. you'll see it's faster now. go to amazon and sign in it will load the sign in faster like chrome does.

Yes.

After reading the thread, I loaded Opera and have been using that for several days. Like anything it takes some getting used to, but I like it.

My Packard-Bell 8088 has an external 14.4 baud modem and runs on Geoworks Home Edition For DOS. Sometimes, when my connection gets slow, I just print off a page from DT on my dot-matrix tractor-fed printer and read it offline.

Wish I was fancy like you. I only have a Hayes 300/1200 on my 64K Commodore.

My system's over 20 years old, but I keep it in tip-top shape with regular maintenance ... fresh tubes, new belts every year, top off the fluids quarterly ... you know, stuff like that.

It's funny ..... when I first started using computers, it was a UNIX machine with, IIRC, like 5 MB memory.

I remember when I took over doing the car ordering at work, and we upgraded to Win95 with 16 MB RAM. Man, that machine screamed on that crap modem, with super slow dial up. lol IIRC, it ran Netscape.

Just goes to show how pacing against the field shifts our expectations.

As a software developer I am continually appalled by how much worse software gets. Computers are several orders of magnitude faster and we are still operating at similar or worse performance levels ,while also having way higher defect rates

Sounds like you should give ccleaner a try. It will clean up your cache temp files and history. Uncheck start menu ordering in the registry settings on the left.

At home I primary use Chrome unless something just doesn't work right, then I try Edge or IE.

At work I run Chrome, Edge and IE together just to ensure the coding is working in all 3 (although less of IE lately), each has it's quirks in the way things get displayed, so I try to account for all. And then there's the times where I just forget the code I'm using has been depreciated, but the browsers do a good job of reminding me. smile
