I agree bone .. I can see us looking for OL help at cut downs. Kush may be a temporary place holder at RG
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

I suggested that we will hit the waiver wire after the cuts, but I don't think it will be for a starter. I could easily see us bring in 1 or 2 backup offensive linemen.

Seems most likely. Try to get deeper, but we won't find a starting RG in a trade.

What contenders are in need of OL help? Minnesota?

Texans for sure.
Pats have been mentioned.
Money comes into play because not every team has the space.
So we and those teams have been mentioned most.
I don't have a good handle on us in regards to the OL. while Freddie and others have mentioned the DL as the strength of the team. There has not been much said about the OL.

Good call on Houston ... plus, they’re typically active with trades/players

Trying to drive the price up?

Trying to drive the price up? Maybe. Or maybe forcing his and his agent's last hand. Could be that ownership truly believes he'll play for them this season.

Yeah, the closer we get the more pressure it is to do something on both sides

The NFL isn't like the NBA. NFL players need to be careful when making their threats. It worked out for AB, but it was a disaster for Bell.

This story probably sheds a little bit of light on to why Trent Williams feels the way he does about the Redskins:

And more:
Because of how well things have gone for us over the past 12 months Washington has taken over as the league's premier poo show with Arizona a distant second place.
cfrs15's inarguable poo show power rankings that no one asked for:
1. Washington
2. Arizona 3. NY Giants
4. Jacksonville 5. Oakland

Why is Jacksonville a poo show? ...
Please explain ... i don’t get it ... To be clear, they are not that much of a poo show, just enough of a poo show to make the top five. Here are some reasons: 1. For some reason the people, who are still, in charge signed Blake Bortles to an extension. 2. Because they had faith in Blake Bortles they passed on a bunch of good QBs (and instead took a knucklehead running back). 3. Tom Coughlin called out the knucklehead running back last season and then backtracked hard. 4. Coughlin almost fired the coach and hired himself. 5. They signed Nick Foles for $45,125,000 despite for other team trying to sign him. 6. They mismanaged the cap so badly that they will likely have to let one of Jalen Ramsey or Yannick Ngakoue walk or decimate their defense.

I like the idea of an anti power rankings, or dysfunctional power ranking top 5,
But I have to put the dolphins on there and the Bengals too.
Washington, Miami Arizona Bengals Steelers for Antonio Brown and Leveon Bell.
------
If the Guy "Never" wants to go back to Washington, he shouldn't have to,
I don't think the Browns need to sign Trent Williams, I think the Browns are OK with the bad offensive line they already have.
Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

Let's also not forget when Shanahan Sr. kept RGIII out there in the playoff game against the Seahawks even after a significant leg injury. RGIII has never been the same since.

Redskins have to be near the bottom of the league this year ... i cant think of many things going for that team

IN that case the Giants have no business being on a dysfunctional list, they not only have Barkley, they got Zeitler from the Browns,
The Giants defense is going to be better, and they got rid of Odell Beckham Jr, who they thought was a distraction.
New Quarterback, and they look like they have some things going right down there in New York/ New Jersey/ wherever they play.

As woeful our Team has been since 1999 I have been proud of the way we have taken care of our injured. Nothing is perfect I'm sure we faltered here and there but I thought we went the extra mile to take care of our players. Proud of our Organization in that department.

The staph infection year(s) was a terrible look, but outside of that, can't recall any other major issue.

This may not qualify (as it was more of an isolated incident, and it was not an organization-wide issue) - but Shurmur putting McCoy back in the game after a concussion was a bit troubling. This is the one where McCoy's dad got angry with the team.
But, you're right. We've always seemed to do a good job of taking care of our own.

I forgot about that (McCoy concussion). Good point. I believe it was very shortly after this game (or maybe right before) that the league mandated having an independent head injury doc on the sidelines keeping an eye out for potential concussions. Point is, times were a-changing, and there were a few teams that didn't have the whole concussion evaluation process figured out. The hit was vicious and brutal that he shouldn't have gone back out there, but the Browns weren't the only team that failed to execute this process correctly around this time.
IIRC (and please correct me if I'm wrong), but the staph infection years weren't just isolated to us, right? I remember a couple teams at various points having staph issues. I believe that kicked off a bunch of changes to how teams keep their facilities clean, and hygiene practices in the locker room.
There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

The staph issue may have extended to other teams (I forget, really) but we had like five or six players get it. In one instance it almost killed a guy (Bentley). Then JJ sued the Browns & I'm pretty sure Bentley did too. It was a nightmare.

Not to mention Olivier Vernon... We absorbed what, almost 160 million in payroll obligations from the Giants over the next three years? Two headaches for the Giants. Both players in and out of practice so far this training camp? Who won this trade? Time will tell, but we undoubtedly helped out the Giants cap situation, and we are missing Zeitler already.

We don't pay OBJ's signing bonus, so all we are on the hook for is roughly $15-17 million for 5 years. ($77 million total, if he earns every incentive) We can get out f his deal in 2020, if necessary, for a minimal cap hit. Vernon has 2 years left on a deal worth roughly $31 million. We can move on from him after this season for a cap savings, if necessary. We also eliminated the salaries of Zeittler and Peppers. Where do you get $160 million?

I would also add that the Giants are paying OBJ more this season that we are. (from a cap perspective) His entire $20 million signing bonus accelerates on their cap this year.
They also accelerate $8 million in terms of Vernon's signing bonus against this year's cap.
In fairness, we also are finishing paying Zeittler's signing bonus that accelerates against the cap. (roughly $7.2 million) We also pay the remainder of Pepper's bonus, which appears to be $6.58 million.

I could be dead wrong. But I believe the Browns are big players in this Williams deal.
He is a 7 time pro bowler. Arguable one of the best LT in football. He just turned 31 in July.
Williams is due nearly $25 million during the next two seasons, the last two years on a five-year, $66 million contract extension he signed in 2015. Neither 2019 or 2020 holds much guaranteed cash either.
There is no indication his abilities have declined. He could man LT for two to four years and do so at a high level.
The Browns would not be stuck in a contract. He is under control and it would our option to extend or do a new deal.
We have cap space. Our O-line is not set in stone. Adding Williams would allow us to put the best 5 lineman we have starting.
Based upon last years ranking our current tackles are average at best. We don't have a RG locked into that position.
The Williams saga will end within a couple weeks. A trade seems to be the only viable answer.
So yes, IMO knowing Dorsey I see no reason why we would not be players in this.

Maybe because the Redskins are playing hardball and turning down all Trade offers ... at least that is the published reports.

That is Washington PR.
If Williams will not play in Washington which is what has been made clear.
What good would it do them to continue that stance?
It comes down to he will not play; then we have to get something for him.
They don't get a thing if he holds out and they don't trade him.
All of this behind the curtains look into how dysfunctional Washington is not going to help them.
I see no way a trade does not happen.

A trade may not happen simply because they are so dysfunctional. I get the feeling that they are floundering and spinning; trying to figure out how to get themselves into a position of leverage in the situation.
Browns is the Browns

While I agree with bonefish that this would be a logical conclusion coming from any normal organization, I think he may be giving the Redskins too much credit in that department. With this bunch in Washington, while feeling a logical conclusion may end up being the outcome, I can't see it as some foregone conclusion.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

At some point Snyder who is an active owner has to step in.
I have no clue to what he will do.
But in the end I don't see any alternative. So they don't pay him? He doesn't play. More stuff comes out about management. I think in the end given all factors. They are not winning a thing this year. They may as well build. A trade gives them money and compensation.
I think it happens. The Browns will be in it. But that does not mean they come away with Williams.
