How do you plan to pay for all of this stuff you want to give away for free? isn't a republican talking point... it's a logical question that every American deserves to have answered and they all should have to answer it before anybody gives the first shred of credibility to their "free" programs...

I really think this is what it comes down to. Everyone I talk to pretty much says the same thing. That's why I am having a hard time thinking that the Dems can win the election.

But, a lot of nods at corporate taxes as well as taxes on the wealthiest of the wealthiest. Warren also laid out a specific tax plan regarding Education. Others called for using money from the military budget. Remember, we put more money into defense than the next 10 countries combined! I think it's fair to say we can shift $$$ into other things that would be good for our society and STILL have plenty in our military budget.

His net worth is around 100 Million, so he can probably stay as long as he wants. But he will not make the September debate stage at this rate.

She said 2 cents for every dollar on the first dollar after 50m on those who earn more than 50m. Sorry if this sounds dumb, and maybe it is a dumb question, but does this mathematically equate to 2% or did you mishear her with "2 cents vs 2 percent"?

But, the first 50 million would be taxed at the normal tax rate.

And, 2 cents per dollar after that first 50 million which would be taxed at 20-39%, IS 2%.



If, after you pay your normal taxes on the 50 million, and you get taxed 2 cents per dollar after that...........that's 2% per dollar.

Fate answered it above. I thought Fate was saying 2% on ALL their wealth. So, for example...if Delaney is worth 93m her tax would be 2 cents p/dollar on 43m (not 93m).

This is part of the confusion for many. This is not a TAX. We are not "taxing" income. They've already paid taxes on all of this income. It is in essence a "seizure" because it goes beyond the scope of normal taxation. It's basically like saying "You know what, we all decided you have too much, we're taking 2% of what you've already accumulated".

But, I agree with her that this is a good, strategic plan and I love what she lists she can pay for with all of the collected money. If I WERE in that top 1% I would be more than willing to pay it knowing what she is proposing to do with it. For me, Education is one of the key issues I want to hear from the candidate. Betsy DeVos?
