So, I know that pretty much any thread about politics at some point becomes about racism.. but the last one that is supposed to be about it, got locked, so here we go.

This is about racism (partially), it's also about what a sham CNN is.. obviously the right hates it because it's not Fox News.. but why so many in the middle view it as no better than Fox News..

This is a 7 minute interview between Don Lemon of CNN and Rev. Owens.. Rev. Owens was recently invited with other black pastors, to the WH to meet with the President on the conditions of inner city poor (and minorities) and what can be done.

Don Lemon spends the entire 7 minutes trying to push the pastor into the corner to call the President a racist, but the pastor won't let him. It's quite comical to watch as this is such horrific "journalism"..

The seemingly obvious question he doesn't ask him, in the entire 7 minute interview is.... What types of ideas did you discuss? Not one time does he ask him about the actual content of the meeting or whether they had any ideas about improving conditions...

That's the thing about CNN. As far as "news coverage" they're pretty good.

When it gets down to their talking heads, they're pretty terrible. Just like Sean Hannity on the right.

For people to claim one is so much better or worse than they other is rather disingenuous.

I agree, that I prefer CNN when they cover Breaking News/Disaster type things. Their coverage is the best.

But their general talking head round table commentary is HORRENDOUS.

I remember one time I turned it on not long after the 2016 election, and they were actually showing very bad anti-Trump cartoons made by their talking heads. 3rd grade quality. Like it was news.

Nobody likes Trump, but at least try not to ruin your credibility CNN!

Also, I don't watch Fox News. At all. The only News I tend to watch is the Local News, and ABC Evening News. I would rather get my national news from the internet.

i actually like CNN as my news source, however, their primetime lineup is shaky.

Cumo atleast likes using a ton of facts when it comes to giving his own perspective, and i generally like the analysts he brings on the show.

but Don Lemon is straight opinion, and it says something that even someone like me thinks he plays the race card far too often.

I hate to admit this, but my news source for the most part is this board. I don't watch TV other than sports and Game of Thrones [that's over, though.] I despise commercials. Even more-so, I hate the bias that occurs from news commentators and what's even worse is how they talk to us like we are idiots. Spelling everything out as if we can't reason.

I had a couple of neighbors who called me an "intellectual snob" because of such views and perhaps I am because I am not wasting my time on listening to those canned voices. I get the news from you guys and listen to both sides proclaim how awful the other side is and I combine that w/real life experiences to make up my own damn mind.

I'm probably not a whole lot different in that than you.

I couldn't tell you the last time I watched FOX news. I do read CNN daily.

I see the bias daily on yahoo's home page though. And on here.

And the odd thing is, cnn and some on here are hardening the case for a dem to be elected, and they don't realize it.

Oh yeah...........I forgot about Yahoo. One of my email accounts is on Yahoo and I skim the headlines when I go that site. And yes, they are biased as hell.

I used to prefer CNN, but haven't for about 6-7 years now. I read most of my news, will watch MSNBC primarily but mix in CNN, Fox, and the big 3 networks when I don't want the spin.

Not a fan of Don Lemon. Like Swish, I like Cuomo and used to like Anderson Cooper back when I watched the channel daily. Erin Burnett is decent too.

I’m not even sure what the word racism means anymore or what qualifies u as one ... seems the new standard is simply being white and disagreeing with anyone of color ... they called Pelosi a racist ... calling her racist dilutes the meaning of the word racism down to pretty much every white person that ever lived ... its now an all inclusive word as far as i can tell ... it also “taints” the real instances of racism in that we hear the word multiple times daily and the bar is now set so low to “qualify” as one ...

I know at least the squad called her racist .. not that they should be taken seriously their ideas are all whacked out ... there i go being a racist again even though i can’t stand any of them ... Pelosi, Bernie, Warren there all WHACKOS as far as i’m concerned ... but yet somehow i’m a racist cause i think the squads whack jobs also .... *shrugs* ...

CNN is not as bad, sometimes, as the big 3 networks, if you want to see Racism turn on NBC tomorrow morning at about 10:00 am.

See, being that tomorrows' Sunday, I don't even have to know anything about the upcoming, because I know the network, I know what they are like, and I know the show Meet the Press, I know what it is like.

Here's a hint, everything they do or say, apparently in their views, to combat racism; is actualy themselves acting in a very racist way.

Here's the problem I see when it comes to people's opinions about racism.

See, I don't claim to be an expert on racism. I can certainly see obvious things that are said that are racially motivated and would be offensive to people of color. Sometimes I can see where that's done on purpose just to spread the divide.

But what people seriously need to understand is, until you've lived it, you have no idea what it actually is. How many white parents on this board had to give their children, "the talk" in fear of what may happen to them if they didn't react perfectly by being pulled over by the police? Sure you may have told them to be polite and follow instructions, but "the talk" goes far deeper than that.

How many of you have been pulled over for "no real reason" other than you just don't "look like you belong there"?

It's like saying you understand the life of a farmer having never been to a farm. You don't. I don't either.

Too many times I see people deny racism when they have never even experienced what that is.

I do think the word racism has lost a part of its meaning by many because no matter how slight or how minor an incident is, somehow it always falls under the category of racism. As such, it loses its importance and value. Much like The Boy Who Cried Wolf.

Racism is real. It exists and some are fooled by the fact it isn't spelled out right in front of their faces. A person doesn't have to swear allegiance to the KKK or be a skin head to be a racist. Sometimes they make it obvious more by the things they don't say, than the things they do say.

Speaking out against it means a lot. Acting like it doesn't exist, denying it and staying silent when it's put in front of you says a lot too.

I was pulled over in TN. 2 cop cars. Because I was young, and driving a brand new car.

I gave my son, AND daughter, the talk about what to do if a cop pulls them over.

I have a few black friends. And yet, when I say that, people say "Oh, 'the old I have black friends' routine."

I have MANY Mexican or hispanic friends. Many. And yet, that will get poo pooed as well.

Friends with Indians - from India - not native americans, mind you.

Guess what nationality my daughter's boyfriend is? American is his nationality. He's Mexican. Not latino according to him: Mexican.

He's welcome at our house any time.

And yet, somehow, some people with the i.q. of a McChicken sandwich call me racist?

this notion that the left or POC are calling everything racist is just an excuse to ignore the racist crap people do that they think is ok. The little racist things get ignored. Trump's racism is explained away and whitewashed. And we inch slowly back into Jim Crow politics...

if you willingly and voluntarily vote for a racist, what do you expect to be called?

I'm quite sure that happens. But just like myself, if you haven't lived it, you cant truly know what life is like as a person of color.

And I think that's why many people that really aren't racist at all get labeled that way.

It's not that they are actually racists. It's that they simply have more trouble seeing it than the people who have had to live it.

Yet when people like yourself get hit with that label, it does more to divide us than it does to help us all come to a mutual understanding.

Here is a quick little racism test. Swish is my friend who happens to be black, but I don't call him my black friend... I have friends from my childhood who are like my brothers and sisters that happen to be POC but I call them friends, or brothers... See what I mean?

I don't think everybody that makes these mistakes is racist, I think they just need to understand how things sound and look, things they think are ok can sound racist as hell. I struggled with that and still do at times, but I accept that it's me who needs to fix it, not somebody else's fault for calling it out.

We are talking apples and oranges here. My point is that most white people don't even understand that many of the things Trump says are racist. They buy into the rhetoric that it's not racist at all.

Why? because if you haven't studied how racism was perpetuated in the south, many times people won't see it even when it's there. If you haven't lived your life as a person of color in a race driven society, you don't have the experience to understand it.

Now don't get me wrong. I don't see that as a reasonable excuse. I'm not a person of color but things that divide our people make me want to search for the answer why. As such, I've looked into everything from slavery, to Jim Crow laws, segregation and civil rights. I think everyone who wishes to help close the divide between the races do the same.

But I still haven't lived it. I still fully understand that what someone like arch calls, "The Talk" isn't "The Talk" that people of color must have with their children. They just don't get it.

So as much of an understanding about racism you can learn from reading, I've tried to do. But that isn't anywhere close to having to live day to day life that way. And I'll never pretend it is.

Trying to compare "getting pulled over with out of state tags" to what people of color go through is a prime example of how many white people just don't get it.

And, I'm out.

Now I do understand that Trump espoused some of those conspiracy theories along with others. I agree that Republicans are supporting the biggest liar I've ever seen in the oval office. A man with no moral fiber. So other than some of his political policies there are no redeeming qualities within this man.

It shows that they don't really care about morals or family values. They don't really care about fiscal spending. It shows they will abandon many of the things they claimed to stand for simply for political power.

I have always felt they were hypocrites in regards to the very things they have proven they will abandon for power. Now the evidence is in and it's proof positive they do not care about those things at all.
