With us being blessed with OBJ/VG it got me to thinking about the all time great receiving duos ... there’s been a lot of great ones ... my short list ...

1. Rice/Taylor ... IMO Taylor maybe the most underrated player in the history of the league ... he was a hell of a WR along with being one of the best all time return men ...

2. Harrison/Wayne .... and dang if they didn’t compliment each other perfectly .... Harrison with the speed and great hands and Wayne the sure handed great route runner that was Not a big deep threat cause of his speed ....

3. Carter/Moss .... hard not to put these two at #2 ... they didn’t play together long enough or they may even be #1 on the list ....

Thats my short list ... yours? ...

Just to show how good Rice was... He and Terrell Owens can be considered in the same conversation.

Duper and Clayton were unstoppable, as well as Andre Reed and James Lofton.

As much as we, as Browns fans, hate to mention it .. Lynn Swann and John Stallworth have to be in the discussion ...

I would have to say:

1. Rice and any other WR he worked with. Jerry was just that good.
2. Harrison/Wayne

What, no love for Kevin Johnson and Darrin Chiaverini?

I would have to say that the combination of Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin belong somewhere in the conversation.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

I would put Roddy White and Julio up there somewhere, Chad and TJ Whosyourmomma as well.

Donald Driver and Greg Jennings maybe on the list.

And actually:

I would put either 2 or 3 - Isaac Bruce and Torey Holt.

Yep. They made Bradshaw look a LOT better than he actually was.

Cris Carter and Randy Moss were basically unstoppable on those Vikings teams. I believe that is the correct answer.

Some underrated combos; Chad Ochocinco and T.J. Housmanzadeh, Terrell Owens and Jerry Rice, Tim Brown and Jerry Rice, Terrell Owens and Jason Witten.

I am glad somebody mentioned this one. These guys tore it up for Arizona. Fitzgerald is second all time in yards and Boldin is 14th. Fitzgerald is third in receptions, Boldin is 9th.

Man a lot of duos left out!

Stalworth & Swan?
Don Maynard & George Sauer?
Charlie Joiner & John Jefferson?
ANdre Reed & James Lofton?
Henry Ellard and Flipper Anderson?
Art Monk & Gary Clark?
Herman Moore & Brett Perriman?

Probably a dozen more nobody's mentioned yet...

Look I'm drinking the Kool Aid too, but shouldn't they play a few real snaps together before we crown them?

I was about to hit send and it dawned on me that Paul Warfield and Gary Collins weren't too shabby together either.

I understand the excitement, but lets see how they compliment each other.

Receivers are like cats, they are a different breed with a vindictive mind. Some start to count targets and catches, and when that happens, it isn't good.

I don't know what it is about receivers, but they seem to me to be the least team friendly position group on a team.

The thing is that both OBJ and Landry have had a tremendous amount of success in the NFL already. It's not like they are rookies. Also, they played together at LSU and meshed well.

Memory lane dawg .... thats one of the reasons I did this thread ... Maynard/Sauer ... Joiner/Jefferson and a couple more unmentioned i forgot about .. and like u said .. there’s many more that still haven’t been mentioned ...

Dawgs i think this duo has a shot to be special ... question is just how special ... but guys ... i was not crowning them anything .. having them made me think of the all time greats .... due to where there at in their careers and the salary cap I’m not even sure VG will be here next year... but due to money restraints these guys will not be able to paid for more than this year and maybe two more ... u can’t have two studs at the WR position unless one of them is on their rookie contracts or your 90 gajillion dollars under the cap ... justnot doable in todays game ...

Huh ... i wonder who was the worst QB to throw passes to any of the duos mentioned in this thread so far ...

Maybe John taylor isn’t as underestimated as. I think ....

Shocked Harrison/Wayne isn’t on more ...

Bro ... I been waiting YEARS to do this ...

Its Jefferson .... your welcome dawg .... *LOL* ...

Thanks for correcting my spelling. LOL

I meant Jimmy Orr from the Colts.

I think Raymond Berry is in the conversation for the greatest receiver of all-time. I know that sounds crazy, but I think when comparing receivers across generations, you should look at the numbers of how those receivers measure up against their peers.

Obviously, the numbers become more inflated each year. Thus, it is wise to see how guys like Berry and Orr compared to other receivers of their era.

That Colts team was one of my favorites of all-time. In my opinion, Johnny U was the best qb to ever play the game. They had Berry and Orr at WR. Their third guy was Henry Carr. I think I have that name right this time. John Mackey at TE who revolutionized the position. Lenny Moore and Tom Matte in the backfield. Big Daddy Linscomb, Bubba Smith, Mike Curtis, etc on D.

Btw............I probably butchered some of the spellings, but I don't feel like looking them up right now.

Yeah, I got the last names mixed up. I think the other dude's name was Henry Carr. He was really fast, Orr was the polished receiver.

Do you remember when Mike Curtis [yes, his # was 32] laid that fan out who tried to steal the football between snaps? LMAO..........that was great.

Yeah, it's fun. But, I'm hijacking your thread. Sorry. It wasn't my intent.

Trying to think of one that hasn't been mentioned. Did anyone bring up Art Monk and Gary Clark? They were pretty good.

Jimmy Smith and ex-Brown Keenan McCardell were pretty dang good for the Jags.

Not to xtend the hijack, but Art Donovan's story about how Mad Dog Curtis ripped Roman Gabriels head clean off is classic and I tried but I couldn't find the story on Youtube.
