Meanwhile trump calls the opioid addiction crisis a priority and has done nothing, nada, not even a whisper after he called the crisis a priority. Happening under his watch. Drug overdose deaths with illegal drugs continue to rise. He’s a total failure with everything. Only just a braggart and a hot air machine. Deplorable.

This is not a partisan issue, this is not a trump issue, or an Obama issue, or a political issue. Honestly - grow the hell up. People are dying bro, enough.

What is trump doing about it? Oh yeah he’s worried more about the rapper with an assault charge in Sweden.

Glad I clicked to confirm this was Trump's fault. Wow. Shall we confirm how many times the Great Recession was blamed entirely on Obama? Or how times Hillary was blamed for every mysterious death on the planet.

Glad I clicked to confirm this was Trump's fault. Wow. Shall we confirm how many times the Great Recession was blamed entirely on Obama? Or how times Hillary was blamed for every mysterious death on the planet. You could if you wanted to totally derail the thread before it gets halfway down one page... But you kind of already did that when your first post was about Trump... The first wave of opioid deaths goes back to the early 90s.. nobody has done much about it.. blaming it on Trump is like blaming the Browns 20 years of ineptitude on Todd Monken.. Should all levels of government stop whining about it and using it as a campaign ploy... and actually try to do something about it? Absolutely they should.. but first we must make sure the other side gets the blame because that's what really matters most, not that people are dying... make sure we know who to blame.. Want to know WHY they won't get off their butts and do anything about it? Because it's more valuable to the politicians (at least at a national level) as a campaign slogan and a blaming tool than it is a problem to solve. The only politicians that are going to try to actually FIX problems are at the local level.. Remember when everybody was outraged about the conditions in Flint, MI for about 20 minutes? The left all lined up to blame Trump.. the right countered with the fact that Obama had done nothing in the years he knew about it... everybody went to Google to find the race and political affiliation of mayors and governors to see who best to apply blame to.. and almost nobody offered solutions... but everybody felt better about themselves for having expressed the appropriate amount of outrage and blame placing to take up for their team... Completely under the radar and with little press, it appears progress has been made... During the Flint Water Crisis, lead levels were not properly tested. City officials admitted to having failed to test water from homes with a high risk for elevated lead. Following this admission, lead testing was suspended from the second half of 2015. However, testing has since resumed and revealed steadily dropping levels of lead. Federal regulations state that at least 90 percent of water samples tested under the Lead and Copper Rule must have lead measuring at or below 15 parts per billion (ppb).
From January 2016 to June 2016, water levels tested at 20 ppb in the 90th percentile. By the second half of the year, this dropped to 12 ppb. Through 2017, lead levels dropped further to 6 ppb by the end of the year. In the last six months of 2018, 90 percent of the water tested in Flint had 4 ppb of lead or less. You will notice that progress was made while Obama was still in office and more progress has been made since Trump was in office.. I would suggest that neither of them had a whole lot to do with it.. it was the locals, holding local officials accountable (or replacing them) that is to credit for making progress on this issue.

You are correct. Both parties have kicked the can down the road in terms of hard drugs in our country. The opioid crisis just being the latest installment of it. It's a national crisis that needs to be on the front burner. But since the 90's you can play "insert name here" for every president and legislator that has failed to actually address the issue.
While it's just my opinion, having big pharma greasing the palms of our politicians is a big part of the problem. Both from the aspect of our government refusing to negotiate prescription drug prices for our people, to a failure to hold big pharma accountable for the opioid crisis.
And they're greasing the palms of our politicians on both sides of the political aisle.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

And they're greasing the palms of our politicians on both sides of the political aisle. I agree. There are dozens of lawsuits right now from various groups and individuals against all manner of "participants" in the opioid epidemic.. from the manufacturers, to the distributors, down to CVS and Walgreens. Each lawsuit will say something similar, you knew this was happening and did nothing in your professional capacity to stop it... Oh that it were possible to sue congress on the same grounds.. I honestly don't know where the best place is to institute some level of control.... somewhere between manufacturing and retail sales but where? My guess would be as early in the process as possible because once it's manufactured, it WILL find its way onto the street.

No threat Diam, just pointing out that you didn't need to be like that because we've been cool for a long while now.
You have a good weekend too! Thanks.

I guess since nobody else wants to do it, let me express my deepest sympathy to the Kennedy family who has to deal with yet another tragic death at a young age. No parent should have to bury their own child, especially at such a young age. Very sad.

This has to be one of the most star-crossed families to ever grace the pages of the news. They are certainly the most haunted in American history.
Stories like the Kennedy family has written are why terms like 'Devil's Bargain' continue to have legs in our general culture. So much power, prestige and potential. So much tragedy, attrition and heartache.
I feel for these folks too, Excl. Despite what their public profile may evoke in others, I have sympathy for any family who loses one of theirs at such a tender age. The family not only loses the loved one, they also lose the potential embodied in that loved one.
I was 22 when we lost My Father. I was insane with grief and remorse for a full year and a half. My Mother never recovered. But even as devastating as that was, it was still within the natural order of Life. If it was My Sis or me (or any of our beloved first cousins), it would have crippled the entire family tree. Now, to see that terrible price exacted in each and every generation since Joe & Rose... my God.
Thanks for bringing this conversation back to Real.

You nailed it on your first reply. This shouldn’t be here. It’s not political. This doesn’t belong here. So I made it political. trump is a dunce for not doing a thing about the opioid issue after he said he’ll make it a priority. Nothing,nada,yada,yada,yada... And it’s getting worse.
So if you have an issue with it. Take it up with the refs. I’m sure they’ll side with you.
