Police: Multiple fatalities in El Paso shooting
(CNN)Multiple people were killed Saturday in a shooting at a shopping center in El Paso, Texas, according to local officials.

El Paso Mayor Dee Margo and police Sgt. Enrique Carrillo said there were multiple fatalities.
Authorities do not believe there is an ongoing threat, Carrillo told reporters.
One suspect is in custody, according to Sgt. Robert Gomez.
At least 22 people were injured, spokesmen from two hospitals told CNN.
Eleven victims were transported to the Del Sol Medical Center, hospital spokesman Victor Guerrero said. Another 11 victims were taken to the University Medical Center of El Paso, according to spokesman Ryan Mielke.

Police began receiving reports of an active shooter around 10 a.m. (noon ET), Gomez said in a brief news conference at the scene. Authorities were initially given multiple possible locations for the shooting, Gomez said, at both a Walmart and the Cielo Vista Mall next door.
They also received reports of an incident at a second mall, several miles away from the Cielo Vista mall, but they confirmed that scene was safe.
"This is a large crime scene, a large area," Gomez said. "So we are systematically going through it and making sure that anybody in the area -- number one, we're ruling out that no one is a suspect, and we're also making sure that those people that were separated or hurt are getting the care that they need."
A family reunification center has been set up for families who might have been separated at MacArthur Elementary School, Gomez said.
Multiple agencies, including the FBI and the local sheriff's department, have responded to the scene to assist El Paso authorities.
"This was a massacre," US Rep. Veronica Escobar, who represents the area, told CNN's Wolf Blitzer. Escobar has received conflicting reports on the numbers of casualties, she said, but added, "The numbers are shocking."

At least three businesses were on lockdown in the area, about three miles south of El Paso International Airport.
Three Walmart employees took refuge at a nearby Landry's Seafood house, restaurant manager Oscar Collazo told CNN. The women appeared "shook up" but not injured.
Landry's had already gone on lockdown, he said, but opened its doors when the employees ran there.
"We never thought it would be so close to us this time," Collazo said. "You see on the news all the time, but you don't think it could happen here until it does."
The nearby Hooters and Red Lobster were also on lockdown. Employees at those restaurants told CNN they were safe and saw a lot of police, helicopters and people running around outside.

In a shaky Snapchat video aired by CNN, a woman holding the camera frantically runs with a small group of girls or women through a Cielo Vista mall department store and into a parking lot.
As the group hurries past racks of clothes and cases of merchandise, voices off camera shout, "Hands up!"
Once in the parking lot, one member of the group asks, "What happened?"
"I don't know," the woman holding the camera responds. "I don't know."
White House pledges 'total support'
President Donald Trump has been briefed on the shooting, and the White House is monitoring the situation, Deputy Press Secretary Steven Groves said in a statement.
"Terrible shootings in El Paso, Texas," the President tweeted Saturday afternoon. "Reports are very bad, many killed. Working with State and Local authorities, and Law Enforcement. Spoke to Governor to pledge total support of Federal Government. God be with you all!"

Democratic presidential candidate Beto O'Rourke, who once represented the area in Congress, addressed the shooting while at a speaking event in Las Vegas.
"We know there is a lot of injury, a lot of suffering in El Paso right now," he said. "I am incredibly said and it is very hard to think about this."
"But I'll tell you, El Paso is the strongest place in the world," he added. "This community is going to come together."
O'Rourke said he would be cutting short his trip to Las Vegas to return to El Paso.
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott tweeted that the state Department of Public Safety is assisting local law enforcement.
The scene is unfolding in the same week two employees were fatally shot at a Walmart store in Southaven, Mississippi, and three people were shot and killed at the Gilroy Garlic Festival in California.

And another sad note, these mass shootings have become so common place that the mass shooting earlier in the week in Southaven, Mississippi didn't even create a mention on the message board.

But then we would hear the same old song and dance about how "thoughts and prayers" are some type of solution.

I was working at home this morning and an alert came up about an active situation on the scanner (i swear i get one every few days) and I didnt think much about it at first. it was an active scene with a lot of fast talking and people talking over each other but i didn't make much out. Went to a couple farm markets with the kids a came back and it still seemed like an really active scene or multiple shooters. Still now there was just a report of somebody walking out of a walmart bathroom and taking 3 or 4 shots. And another call of somebody going down to "finish off what happened at Walmart".

Shooter supposed to be a 21 year old man. There is a manefesto linked on drudge that may or may not be real. It blames the immigrants. I am not sure that this is not more than 1 shooter. they still have a perimeter and are clearing other stores. this is like 6 hours later.

I believe Texas must be an open carry state cause there are lots of calls about people walking with guns-lots of hysteria as well there prob should be

I saw 11 dead before-now 18 dead

At least 19 dead in mass shooting at Walmart in El Paso — suspect in custody

https://www.cnbc.com/2019/08/03/police-in-el-paso-are-responding-to-active-shooter.html

Atleast 40 others injured. This is way worse than previously reported.

I hate to jump the gun, but if this was indeed a "hate crime" as is being reported..........I think we need to take a long look at what is going on.

The idiot politicians are using this to promote gun control. However, gun control does not stop "hate." Bombs, cars, guns on the black market, arson, etc can all kill people and people will kill innocent victims if they have hate in their heart.

There is a lot of talk about illegal immigration and Donald Trump is one of the leaders of this talk. A lot of Americans consistently spew hate towards those trying to enter this country. There are groups of citizens that actually patrol our borders.

Stop the hate. It's dangerous. Morons like this kid read that crap and act on it because they have the IQ of a freaking rodent and heart of a Black Widow.

Change the laws that make entering this country feasible for the poor so they don't have to break the damn idiotically stringent laws that are in place.

And stop hating one another. This group is racist. Libtards are this. Cons are that. Whites are this. Blacks are this. All Hispanics are drug dealers and murderers.

STOP FREAKING LABELING PEOPLE and creating a climate of hate and resentment.

Headlines are full of racist this, racist that, just stoking the fires...

Then we throw our arms up in the air when something happens again and give thoughts and prayers...

And are quietly thankful that we were not involved.

When the president is the object number one of this stuff it has consequences.

Another angry young white male...

Posts a manefesto about the Hispanic invasion and the war to take back America and Europe has just begun.

Drives 9 hours and post the manefesto 24 minutes before first 911 call.

Told investigators yesterday that he went to shoot as many Mexicans as he could..

One former FBI guy said last night that these may be cascading acts where they all go to and post on their extremist sites and try to one up each other

ABC talking heads, finaly talking sense, what to do, say 2 or more times only the shooter to blame,

Go to O'Rourke, " Are you saying the President bears/bares responsibility for this"

O'Rourke " I am, because he does"

continues ... something somethin( I can't remember because I'm so taken a back that he just said that)

then 10 seconds later
O' Rourke, " Not only him, but Fox News"

There's no way to link, I just watched this on Abc TV in the last 10 minutes, I think "This Week" may have been the shows name.

This is sad because we don't need blaming people for some nut

But it's important for people to know because if O'Rourke is going to say this, and on Network TV, he has to be responsible for the words he used and everyone needs to know he just blamed the pres and fox news,

When not even the shows talking heads were going to.

It’s open carry in Texas. A conservative, hardcore pro 2nd amendment state. Where were the good guys with guns we keep on hearing about?

Trump is ‘radicalizing’ young people to commit terrorism like a radical Islamic Mullah: Ex-FBI officialPublished 12 hours ago on August 3, 2019 By Bob Brigham
FacebookTwitterFlipboardCopy LinkEmail

President Donald Trump is similar to a radical Islamic Mullah in radicalizing impressional youth, a former assistant director of the FBI explained on MSNBC on Saturday.

Anchor Ali Velshi interviewed Frank Figliuzzi following the mass shooting at an El Paso Walmart that left 20 people dead and another 26 wounded.

Report Advertisement
“As details emerge, this manifesto, this screed, whatever you want to call it, you’re going to be increasingly be convinced that today’s shooting was an act of terrorism,” Figliuzzi said.

Raw Story is now on Instagram. Get our latest stories and
exclusive videos. Click to follow!
“I say that because of the similarities between what we’ve seen with Islamic violent extremism and online radicalization and what we’re seeing now in this hate-filled movement in the United States,” he explained.

“We have a hate problem, Yes, we have a gun problem. Yes, we have a violence problem, but we have a developing hate problem and it is race-based and if as soon as they confirm that this posting is indeed the shooter’s posting, well, we should feel free to call what it it is and that is terrorism,” he continued.

00:00
00:44

He then explained how Trump was not unlike a radical cleric.

“Let’s understand something, this administration that we’re in needs to come out and intervene. What do I mean by that? If you’re on the Islamic extremism side, you’ve got that cleric radicalizing that young person online. He’s the father figure, giving the license, he’s facilitating and enabling. What we need is the similar figure — the president — to come out and say, once this is confirmed, ‘I stand for something other than hate, I rebuke all the hatred going on here.’ Until we see the person do that, that’s giving the license, we’ll continue to have this hate problem,” Figliuzzi said.

“About half the FBI’s terrorism cases right now, as we speak, are actually this stuff, the domestic stuff,” he added. “That is extremely disturbing.”

I am not sure you understand-I would think O'Rourke would be quite confident on what he said. Did you happen to look at the manefesto-about the Hispanic invasion, and this is how it ends:
many people think that the fight for America is already lost. They couldn’t be more wrong. This is just the beginning of the fight for America and Europe.
I am honored to head the fight to reclaim my country
from destruction

Happen to see the twitter page-very pro trump build the wall, talking about libtards and liberal tears, making a pretty Trump sign out of his weapons (edit-that was a twitter post he liked-not his weapons cache)

Something has to be done-you just can't wait until the next shooting happens in a couple days or when schools and colleges go back-hey more soft targets.

Can't figure what is going on-go on facebook, yahoo, or any story, Drudge, etc and look at the replies. The hate is becoming too big. this isn't about some loner sitting in his parents basement trying to be an internet tough guy or pissed because he can't get a girlfriend.

This kid had 3 years of college and lived in a big house in the Dallas burbs

Don't you think it's more the " stupid racist crap spewed daily" by the media on the left?

For instance,
In a time when being white means being marginalized and discounted and totally silenced with years of drumming words like diversity and now "institutional racism",

In a time like this, The media labels, continually drums, and without fail, and without being questioned on it, the media labels anyone who stands for being white as a "supremacist" and also "hate"

Thereby, constantly placing the motive, (and wrongly, because nobody can know the motive, nor/or assign a reason for behavior to all the individuals of a race) but the media's labels constantly do,
that anyone standing for being white, stands for the hatred and violence of attacking blacks or other groups,

and this kind of labeling wouldn't work for Any Other Group.

Not only this, but the media's also constant drumming of things like years ago when I saw a (person on a show ( African American Woman, iirc) , being gone to as a guest solely to demand that folks( pfft, folks, no it was on politician or public official if I recall correctly) denounce the presidents remarks that there are good people on both sides of the aisle in Charlottesville,

When there is no knowledge, that some of the folks in Charlttesville were not there for only the reason to stand for identity, Which

Which isn't even necessary until the Left begins/began marginalizing any white voice wayy back many years ago,
again by years of the constant drumming/labeling that they equal "hate" and "supremacy"

And that wouldn't be allowed of any other group.

For instance, Nobody would be allowed without questioning from others, to label all feminists as a hate group and Lady Supremeicists,
neither would anyone allow all of the many African American identified groups be allowed to be labeled,

labeled without question from others, as a hate group, and Black Supremecists,
Whether it's the NAACP, or the Congressional Black Caucus, or BET television, or any of the tons of groups that very openly and highly in the face of everyday media are allowed to not only advertise,

but are often shown to be something that is applauded, or held up as a standard, or even let's make sure we kiss the ring of these groups to show we care,
( but you see, what I did just there was assign motive to the media, which I mustn't do because no one can know, .. but it can be observed, by the media's choice of what it highlights and also the excitement of voice inflection and so forth, to the end, that i'll guess most can admit that the thing I assigned to the media is pretty evident, but I shouldn't assign it.)

Therefore, when the left, labeling everyone, constantly day after day, is totally dismissing anyone who would stand for being white, in the same way as everyone who is from birth (it seems), not only allowed to stand for being black, but is

well, how can we say, we have a culture that not only espouses the accomplishments of black people but celebrates each and every one, and teaches young folks that blacks are the ones solely done wrong, and drums it and drums it and drums it, to the point

where many, it would seem many believe there is something to be owed to those who identify in black groups, simply because of the color of their skin,

which is ( well that's what the definition of racism is)

Yet when anyone, who is white, just simply wants to say enough is enough, it's time to make our voice heard,

The left with its, what did you say, way back at the top of this post,

("stupid racist crap he spews daily")
The left with its stupid racist crap it spews daily,

will shoot down the white voice by the Instant, Constant, and without question, Labeling, of
"Hate",(hate group) -which cannot be determined and is a (whatdoyoucall it when they put one characteristic to an entire group... STEREOTYPE, that's it)

and "Supremicist" -which ALSO cannot be determined and is a stereotype,

Thereby silencing the white people by marginalizing,

Which even may be only there/here to say "Hey we're a miniority now and we need to stick together"

( But who knows WHY THE FLIP THEY'RE THERE, I'm assigning motive in/from my own mind which is just what the media does when it labels "hate" and "supremacist" stereotypes without questions, .. but at least I just questioned my doing it)

So Ya! for that instance...

Don't you mean the stupid racist crap spewed daily by the left, especially the media, (which some say the left and the media are one and the same now).

RIP and god bless the families of all those that lost lives in TX or OH.

There is lots of hate in the world. I don't believe one 'side' is better than the other, the crazies and the idiots follow the full spectrum of ideologies ... all they need is an enabler to embolden them to make these things happen more often and more frequently. jmo. Intentionally or not it doesn't matter to me, but i think we have that catalyst in office right now.

"They're sending people that have a lot of problems, and they're bringing those problems with us. They're bringing drugs. They're bringing crime. They're rapists. And some, I assume, are good people."

There are "crimes of all kinds coming through our southern border," Trump said, adding that "people hate the word 'invasion,' but that's what it is."

Also on Friday, Trump was asked if he saw "white nationalism as a rising threat around the world." "I don't really," Trump responded, saying "it's a small group of people" committing these crimes

FBI's Wray says most domestic terrorism arrests this year involve white supremacy

https://thehill.com/homenews/administrat...rests-this-year

FBI is investigating 850 domestic terrorism cases

https://www.cnn.com/2019/05/08/politics/fbi-domestic-terrorism-cases/index.html

FBI has seen significant rise in white supremacist domestic terrorism in recent months

https://www.cnn.com/2019/05/23/politics/fbi-white-supremacist-domestic-terror/index.html

It's time people wake up and admit that when the leader of the free world is making comments that act to incite racial extremists, that cause domestic terrorism to rise, we all pay a cost.

Some may blame him directly while some may blame him indirectly. But what anyone with an ounce of common sense must admit is that he's a part of the problem, not a part of the solution.

Freedom isn't free. All of our freedoms come at a cost. America's 2nd amendment freedoms are paid for in wet streets. Cause/effect. I'm OK with the price, because I'm still alive, and so are all my loved ones. America has already proven that She is in line with my way of thinking because Her streets get wet every day, yet She has done nothing to stem the flow of red fluid.

In a country where >300 million men, women and children live in close proximity to >300 million lethal tools, folks are gonna die.

Like our fellow dawg Diam is fond of saying: 1+1=2.

In other words: Just accept that tools of death bring death, and get over it already. All this excessive hand-wringing makes us look like wimps who can't take responsibility for the natural consequences of the public policy we embrace.

It's time to stop being a nation of hypocrites.
We love guns... and guns have one purpose: to forcefully place wet holes in (formerly) living flesh.

This is not that hard.

Minutes Before El Paso Killing, Hate-Filled Manifesto Appears Online

By Tim Arango, Nicholas Bogel-Burroughs and Katie Benner
Aug. 3, 2019

Nineteen minutes before the first 911 call alerted the authorities to a mass shooting at a Walmart in El Paso, Tex., a hate-filled, anti-immigrant manifesto appeared online.

It spoke of a “Hispanic invasion of Texas.” It detailed a plan to separate America into territories by race. It warned that white people were being replaced by foreigners.

The authorities were scrutinizing the 2,300-word screed on Saturday and attempting to determine whether it was written by the same man who killed 20 people and injured more than two dozen others near the Mexican border.

Police officers were interviewing the suspect, Patrick Crusius, a 21-year-old white man from Allen, Tex., a roughly 10-hour drive to the Walmart. What brought him to a crowded shopping center in El Paso is one of the many questions on the minds of investigators.

The manifesto that may be linked to Mr. Crusius described an imminent attack and railed against immigrants, saying, “if we can get rid of enough people, then our way of life can be more sustainable.”From New Zealand to Pittsburgh to a synagogue in Poway, Calif., aggrieved white men over the last several months have turned to mass murder in service of hatred against immigrants, Jews and others they perceive as threats to the white race.

The unsigned manifesto, titled “The Inconvenient Truth,” draws direct inspiration from the mass murder of Muslims at two mosques in New Zealand in March that left 51 people dead. In that attack, the suspect published a manifesto online promoting a white supremacist theory called “the great replacement.” The theory has been promoted by a French writer named Renaud Camus, and argues that elites in Europe have been working to replace white Europeans with immigrants from the Middle East and North Africa.

Christchurch has become a rallying cry for extremists the world over. The manifesto potentially linked to the El Paso killings begins, “In general, I support the Christchurch shooter and his manifesto. This attack is a response to the Hispanic invasion of Texas.”

The gunman who opened fire in April at a synagogue in Poway, Calif., near San Diego, posted an anti-Semitic diatribe on 8chan, the same online message board where the El Paso document surfaced. The Poway manifesto echoed the words of the Christchurch suspect, and also drew inspiration from a massacre at a synagogue in Pittsburgh last October. In that mass shooting, the suspect railed against immigrants, Jews and other groups.

The El Paso shooting, if the manifesto is linked to the gunman, potentially underscored the global spread of white supremacist ideology in the age of social media and at a time when immigration in America and elsewhere has become a divisive political topic.

Shortly after the mass shooting Saturday, Mr. Crusius’ LinkedIn and Facebook accounts were shut down. A LinkedIn page that circulated online after the account was closed down appeared to be several years old, and Mr. Crusius seemed to be a lost young man.

He wrote on LinkedIn while in high school, “I’m not really motivated to do anything more than what’s necessary to get by. Working in general sucks, but I guess a career in Software Development suits me well. I spend about 8 hours every day on the computer so that counts toward technology experience I guess.”

The posting concluded: “Pretty much just gonna see what technology careers present themselves to me; go with the wind.”

If the manifesto is conclusively linked to Mr. Crusius, the federal authorities may treat Saturday’s attack as a hate crime or an incident of domestic terrorism.

The F.B.I. has said that more Americans have died in domestic terrorist attacks than international ones since Sept. 11, and that domestic terrorism is increasingly motivated by white supremacist ideology.

Christopher Wray, the director of the F.B.I., told Congress last month that the bureau had made about 100 domestic terrorism arrests in the first three quarters of the year, roughly the same number of international arrests over that time period.

No United States government agency is responsible for designating domestic terrorism organizations, and there is no criminal charge of domestic terrorism. Individuals who are considered domestic terrorists are charged under other existing laws, such as hate crime, gun and conspiracy statutes.

Officials have said that domestic terrorists continue to be radicalized online, where individuals are able to align with other extremists, become inspired and find the resources they need to act.

The investigation is currently being led by the state of Texas, with assistance from the local sheriff’s department, the F.B.I., Border Patrol and others. During a news conference Saturday afternoon, law enforcement officials said that they were exploring potential capital murder charges.“

Not speaking about this particular instance, which is still under investigation, the manifesto narrative is fueled by hate, and it is fueled by racism and bigotry and division,” said Veronica Escobar, the congresswoman who represents El Paso. “El Paso has historically been a very safe community. We’ve been safe for decades. We will continue to be safe.”

She added, “This is someone who came from outside of our community to do us harm.”

Once again on Saturday, America’s epidemic of mass shootings intersected with the divisive issues of race and immigration.

The words of the manifesto, in citing the “great replacement” theory, echo the slogan that was chanted during a white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Va., in 2017: “Jews will not replace us.”

The writer of the manifesto also suggested that Democrats in the United States have a strategy to gain a permanent majority by embracing the growing Hispanic population, a notion that has gained currency on right-wing radio shows for years.

The manifesto said the gunman planned to use an AK-47-style rifle, which has been frequently used in mass shootings. The four-page document said politicians of both parties were to blame for the United States “rotting from the inside out,” and that “the heavy Hispanic population in Texas will make us a Democrat stronghold.”

The manifesto also railed against automation and embraced an argument familiar in anti-immigrant circles: that immigrants are taking jobs from “natives.”

“My opinions on automation, immigration, and the rest predate Trump and his campaign for president,” the document says.

A thought, May be time to outlaw and do away with first person shooter video games, I'm not familiar with many or any of them, but I think
Call of Duty, and Zombie something or other come to mind, maybe get rid of the Grand theft auto video game too,

the correlation has been understood that what people watch on t.v. they wish to go outdoors and attempt, proven decades ago if I remember right.

Denile is not a river in Egypt.

Many times the simplest answer is the correct one.

Blaming the news media is getting old, they report and comment. When crazy and inflammatory things are said, it provides ample time to fill the airwaves. So in that respect you are correct. But the cause is related to the original source.

As a society, all of this rhetoric has driven us further apart.

As individuals we seek to be measured by ability and “content of character” and not be dismissed by things that cannot be changed, like our country of birth or genetic makeup.

Sometimes we find out that under the exterior, a human being exists.
