Man this is one messed up story and alot of crazy hillbillies. As they spoke with a woman on the front porch, "a female inside the residence limped toward the door with her arms held out, saying, "Help me." The 23-year-old woman had stab wounds on her left leg and bruises around her eyes, authorities said. The wounds were about a week old, the release said. "Deputies found her with two black eyes, part of her hair had been pulled out, she had lacerations on her neck, and she had been physically, mentally and sexually abused," Logan County Sheriff W.E. Hunter said. The victim was forced to eat rat and dog feces and drink from the toilet, according to the criminal complaint filed in magistrate court, The Associated Press reported. Deputies arrested Frankie Brewster, 49; her son Bobby, 24; Danny J. Combs, 20, of Harts, West Virginia; and George A. Messer, 27, Karen Burton, 46, and Alisha Burton, 23, all of Chapmanville, West Virginia. All six were held Monday in lieu of $100,000 bond each, and all have asked for court-appointed public defenders, according to AP. Charges range from kidnapping and torturing to malicious wounding and battery. Those arrested are white and the victim is black, and the FBI plans to investigate it as a possible hate crime, according to AP. The sheriff's department requested the FBI's participation, an agency spokesman told AP

Horrible, I couldn't believe the story when I first heard it... Makes you think about the people that do this that aren't caught. Disgusting. I hope she can make a full recovery is all I can say. There's a special place for the people who did this to her.

I saw this... sick, sick people...
The first thing that crossed my mind, and it's a scary thought, I wonder if they'll start looking into other black people that may have disappeared in central WV recently... I'm guessing this woman was just days away from being buried somewhere deep in the woods... who knows how many others might already be buried back there... this doesn't sound like something people would just start to do out of the blue....

When I read this yesterday my first thought was that their really are those sick, demented, tortured souls out there like the people off of Texas Chainsaw Masacre. Those are the worst horrer movies because its about people that are so demented they should be shot on sight.
I hate watching rape and torture.

**Conjecture here ** That part of West Virgina is rife with drug abuse , Meth and Oxy ) so maybe this was a drug arrangment gone bad. Otherwise why so many people involved in this madness. Maybe I am looking for a reason, any reason, other than the fact that they could be doing this for fun.

WOW!!! This is beyond a hate crime. I don't even consider it totally racially motivated. These bumpkins are just completely derranged (I don't even know if I spelled that right). Death was definitely on the horizon. With the prison population predominantly black...I'm sure they'll get their poetic justice!

Not to make light of what happened, which is terrible, but about 10 years ago we went White water rafting in WV at Berley at the gorge, while traveling down the river, I was making jokes about Deliverancce and doing the bango noise, The guide on our boat said that movie wasnt that far off to some of the families they have around these hills, the whole boat got silent, during the trip you can see movement in the woods around the river, movement animals dont make, I know I have hunted for years, and ya know that feeling you get when your being watched....it is there, my Wife than ex-wife now was spoked all trip...Fun trip whitewater rafting is a blast....if ya got a pretty smile

You know something, Deliverance came right across my mind when I heard this on the news.  ...And to think that I was going to go there to check out some Civil War sites.  ...I DON'T THINK SO.  ...No squeeeelin like a pig here.... . Hell, I wouldn't doubt if there were some actual survivors of the Confederate Army up in those woods now...

They may be just like you or someone else if you/someone else was raised in the backwoods and little or no contact with outside society.
This is not so much a WV story as a backwoods country story. Most all states have areas like this and WV. seems to have much more rural areas than most states.
These people are the worst of the worst...SW West Virginia and WV/KY border crazies where Worker's Comp. is the leading source of household income followed next by refunded money from stolen goods from WalMart/KMart etc.
The vast majority of WV. inhabitants are proud hardworking, patriotic Americans but the other backwoods hicks have done so much inbreeding that in one town near Logan WV. the mayor is related to 80% of the townies.
The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of 'liberalism' they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, .

Well if the report of the bruising being a week old is true then it sounds like it was going on for awhile.... which I don't see it being just a drug deal gone wrong... either way it's very sad.

j/c update. well my theory was wrong. Appears that there was a relationship with one of these douchebags and everyone else got in on it. Seems there was no real reason after all . Six held for abuse of black woman The accused include Bobby Brewster (left) and his mother Frankie West Virginia prosecutors are to bring state kidnap charges against six white people accused of abusing and torturing a black woman for a week. The prosecutors opted not to pursue race hate charges with a penalty of 10 years, going instead for kidnapping which carries a maximum life term. The six allegedly beat, stabbed and sexually assaulted the woman, while using a racial slur. Prosecutors say the woman had been in a relationship with one of the six. Megan Williams, 20, and her mother, Carmen, agreed to release her name to the media, saying they wanted people to know what she had endured. Mrs Williams said she was "horrified" by her daughter's injuries. "I don't understand a human being doing another human being the way they did my daughter. I didn't know there were people like that out there," she said. Choking Ms Williams was discovered on Saturday when an anonymous tip-off led police to a remote hillside house in Big Creek, Logan County. She staggered towards them crying "Help me", officers said. Among the allegations against the six people accused of holding Ms Williams are that they forced her to eat rat droppings and drink from a toilet. They are accused of pouring hot water over her, choking her with a cable and cutting her ankle with a knife, while verbally abusing her. Prosecutor Brian Abraham said Ms Williams was not a random target and had a previous relationship with Bobby Brewster, 24, one of the accused. He was charged in July with domestic battery and assault after a dispute between them. The six accused face charges including kidnapping, sexual assault, malicious wounding and giving false information to police. They are Mr Brewster, his mother Frankie, 49, 20-year-old Danny Combs, Karen Burton, 46, her daughter Alisha, 23, and George Messer, 27.

I'm betting it's because the girl had a relationship with one of them, and the defense would use that to help counter racism charges.

What these people did is sick and they should be punished to the furthest extent possible but why if it is a white person who does something to a colored person it is called a hate crime and subject to further penalty but when it has been the opposite with a group of colored folks ang raping a white women race is never brought into it??

I am one of those country people or hillbillies as you call them . Raised in West Virgina off and on until my teens and my entire family was born and bred in that state with most of them still there so I have a little knowledge of which I speak. I wear the hillbilly moniker with pride along with the occasional Redneck name also...doesn't bother me at all in fact most of my really good friends are hillbillies and rednecks so save your little indignant speech o.k. I hope you don't get banned because that would really accomplish nothing but I'm not a ref. As for what would happen if the roles were reversed ? I can't speak on that because to my knowledge that exact scenario hasn't played out but would it really matter ? What these people , and I use the term loosely, did was unthinkable no matter what race they were. Are your feelings so racially motivated that it blinds you to that fact ?

Don't have an answer to that but all you have to do is look at our penal institution make up to recognize that the system isn't all that fair so it goes both ways. That isn't what this should be about though is it?
By the way I'm not sure the designation of "colored" is politically correct  .

Thanks DC, Thats exactly what I was trying to say. Ire thinks its OK to make fun of country people, lump them all together, how they talk but he would never say something like that against group because he is an enlighten intelligent liberal or so he thinks. I hear alot worse at work but it is in fun. Ire was not teasing and if I get banned so should he. How Ire gets racist out of this I don't know. I take people one at a time, some Ilike some I don'tlike. I don't know what color Ire is , but I don't like him. To me that is not a racist.
