Cleveland Browns: 2019 Practice squad signing tracker
https://dawgpounddaily.com/2019/09/01/cleveland-browns-2019-practice-squad-signing-tracker/

The Cleveland Browns have started to sign players to their 2019 practice squad. Stick with us as we keep you updated as to who makes the 10-man squad

Making the cuts down to 53 players is never an easy task for any team, but it has to be done. The Cleveland Browns and the rest of the NFL did exactly that on Saturday and had to send some promising players to the waiver wire.

Fortunately, this may not be the last time we hear from some of these players who we started to root for during the four-week preseason. That’s due to the fact that the Browns now will begin to work on building their 10-man practice squad.

Of course, the caveat here is that these players have to go through the waiver wire unclaimed, which makes some of the cuts rather risky.

For example, if there’s a player they really like but feel he’s not ready to be on the active roster, he could end up being claimed by another team that has a spot for him to sit and develop. That makes the 24-hour period following roster cuts both exciting and nerve-wracking.

Looking back to the 2018 practice squad, Cleveland was able to use their spaces allotted to groom a couple of players who are now on the 53-man roster in 2019. One is running back Dontrell Hilliard, who has gone from a player on the squad to the No. 2 back to start the season. Daniel Ekuale is another as the young man went from a player they risked on the waiver wire to a good depth piece at defensive tackle.

With all that being said, we offer up a live tracker of the players being added to the Browns squad this season. This will be updated as soon as we get confirmation of signings, so be sure to check back often — and refresh the tab as well.

Cleveland Browns Practice Squad Signings

Willie Harvey, Linebacker
Robert Jackson, Cornerback
Stephen Carlson, Tight End
Willie Wright, Guard

Harvey is one I wanted as well

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."

Harvey and Hassell were two that I thought deserved more time to develop.

Looking for Brian Fineanganofo, OL

I like that he played the run well, even though he was mostly thought of as a PRS initially.

Two years ago we would have kept him on the 53 imo.

Glad to see Harvey made it onto our PS! I am anxious to keep track of this going forward.

We lost some players with ability this year, and it seems to me to be another barometer for Dorsey's success and eye for players. It might be a reach, but we have more talent, speed, size, etc. than say two or three years ago. Hue loved him some PS and wouldn't let it alone, but we are sitting better overall from top to bottom this season than we have been IMO.

The Browns signed DT Brandin Bryant, TE Stephen Carlson, WR Shelton Gibson, LB Willie Harvey, S J.T. Hassell, CB Robert Jackson, WR Derrick Willies and C Willie Wright to their practice squad. Additionally, DB Tigie Sankoh will be a member of the team’s international practice squad and won’t count towards the team’s allotted 10 practice squad slots, with two openings remaining. Eight of the nine players were with the Browns this preseason and training camp.

Gibson (5-11, 191) is a third-year wide receiver out of West Virginia. He was originally drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the fifth round (166th overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft. He saw action in 20 regular season games and five postseason games for the Eagles over the last two years, including their Super Bowl LII victory. Mainly contributing on special teams, Gibson hauled in three career receptions for 59 yards. He’s a Cleveland, Ohio, native and graduated from Cleveland Heights High School.

So do we have two slots still open?

I assume that Dorsey continues shopping then. The magic number is eleven with the extra PS player. Anybody know what the wants for the remaining two? Or does Hunt and some others take it up when added to the roster?

Hunt won't be put on the practice squad.

I guess that it is possible that the Browns are waiting on the OL Brian F********************** (I can't begin to spell his last name) and perhaps Trevon Coley.

Then again, I could be completely wrong.

I'm also intrigued by the Shelton Gibson signing. He has a ton of speed, and could provide value as a returner on special teams.

7th-round pick Donnie Lewis added to the Browns practice squad

https://brownswire.usatoday.com/2019/09/...practice-squad/

The 2019 NFL Draft class for the Cleveland Browns is all back in the same dawg pound. Seventh-round CB Donnie Lewis Jr., the last of the team’s picks, signed to the Browns’ practice squad on Saturday.

Lewis was waived in the final roster cutdown last weekend. The cornerback from Tulane had battled a foot injury suffered during Shrine Game practices and never really got solid footing with the Browns. He went unclaimed and unsigned by other teams.

The Browns axed offensive tackle Paul Adams from the practice squad to bring Lewis back into the fold.

In addition, cornerback Phillip Gaines was released from injured reserve, where he was placed with a concussion. Gaines is now free to sign with another team.

Dorsey loves his draft picks haha ... but honestly, it’d be nice if he could someday be good depth for us

I'm pretty sure I read they were high on this kid before camp. Then I think he got hurt and missed some time.

All these guys love their own draft picks. I don't think that's a bad thing. They are trusting their own instincts. In the case of Dorsey, that's probably a good thing.

Josh McCown was pretty old but I wouldn't call him a dinosaur.
