The real problem is that groups that claim to be "proud of being white" use that to mask the truth. The truth that they're hiding a racist agenda.

White supremacists claim they're proud to be white. The KKK claims they are proud to be white. The same goes for Nazi's. That's the same BS line David Duke claimed. So there's a very real and negative history that goes along with "white pride".

I don't feel anyone holds it against individuals for being proud of their culture or race. I mean as long as we're willing to be responsible for everything your race has done and not try to "white wash" it.

Other than that one point, I agree with you about our choices in who to vote for and how power and special interests control our political system.

The majority demographic in law enforcement is white.

The majority of people calling for gun control are white.

You are missing my entire point here but I'm not surprised by that.

My point is there is a lot of negative connotations that are connected with the term, "white pride". It's not like you can erase the history of groups and public statements made that have tried to excuse racist views and groups with that term. It's been a constant drum beat by groups I have mentioned above. So when people hear that term, it's only natural to associate it with this historical use.

We're not as far off on things than it seems you believe we are. I too have said many times on this very board that people have used the term racist so often on trivial matters that the word has been watered down. It's a catch all phrase that is simply overused to the point that when it is something of note it has lost its value by many.

I have also been a strong proponent of legal immigration and against illegal immigration. But let's be honest here. Saying nasty things and embellishing negative comments to provoke anger doesn't make things better. It only serves to incite people.

We have seen tons of drugs being busted. Mostly come in through ships and through legal ports on entry. Paco isn't supplying the drug trade with his backpack like trump has tried to imply. The average crime rate per capita is higher among American citizens than it is from immigrants. So the rhetoric being employed by trump is only serving to incite and anger, not to solve problems.

You see, it's quite simple. Illegal immigrants are breaking our immigration laws. Laws need to be enforced. All the vitriol spewed beyond that is simply creating hate and division and is uncalled for.

But the reality is the vast majority of illegals who come here come here for work and to make a better life for their families. Not to smuggle drugs, human trafficking, to rape women or any of the other vile things Trump claims.

If you can't see how that pushes those on the fringe, I can't help that. If you can't see how this enrages and creates violence, I can't help you. What you seem to be supporting is that saying negative and nasty things that in no way represent what's really going on is just fine. Or are making excuses why that is okay. I'm not sure.

We are pretty much on the same side in supporting our immigration laws. Even though I do believe the entire immigration system needs a complete a Total overhaul. Just screaming "build a wall" won't fix that.

DTchan in all its glory. Poor forgotten and left behind white guys that can't quite compete in modern society laying the blame at the feet of the other, all the while feeling victimized by everything and everybody...

I'm white and I understand the feeling of 'our country is slipping away from us' that is the real driver behind this type of conversation. But the dupes that buy into it being the fault of immigrants or POC or other religions or even just the other non-white working class people struggling with the same crap is simply misguided soft bigotry... You don't have to belong to the Klan or be a Nazi to practice soft bigotry, that is proven right here all the time.

What these guys don't get is that it is technology, greed, and their refusal to accept changes that has trapped them in this cycle of petty self pity. Corporations killed all those good paying middle class jobs that used to be so plentiful that anyone capable of spelling their own name qualified for in the 'good ole days' of not so long ago.

Competition for good jobs is not keeping these guys from the glorious working class lives of old that they sit around reminiscing about while being fed a slow drip diet of nationalist fascism propaganda from the alt-right fringe. Those jobs don't exist anymore, and the immigrants didn't pack up shop and send those jobs to the lowest bidding third world country, corporations and greed did.

Every major nation in the world is waking up to the bill come due for living the last 75 years in an economy of constant excess. Most white people in America lived very well for most of that time even though their equal counterparts in 'other' communities struggled, the realization of it all coming to an end one day never set in at home. Now it is setting in... and politicians, right wing nationalist, and all the mongers of hate and fear are stepping up to take advantage of the situation.

Sooner or later I hope their eyes open enough to see that they are fighting for the wrong side. People, everyday working class people need to come together regardless of race, religion, sexual identity, or country of origin and join the fight to take back the purse strings. We need a government that works for people, an economy that works for people, and laws that work for people. This is not an anti-rich or anti-business theme because the rich and business have a place in that economy too; but the overwhelming greed that has decimated the world's economy for the last 40+ years must end.

When we have that sort of government, we will be able to deal with issues like global warming, living wages, education, employment, healthcare, etc. With a system that treats people like they matter, we will become industrious and prosperous again with more than enough wealth to spread around.

But this is never going to happen as long as we have people stoking the fires of hate and fear or those gullible enough to believe in it joining their ranks. Change isn't coming, it's here. Nothing is going to bring back the good ole days, NOTHING. The sooner people accept that, the better off we will all be.

This isn't the end of something great, it's the opportunity to make something better for all of us, not just the white working class christian. But we need to come together and stop this insane fighting that the powers that be seem to want to perpetuate until it is too late for all of us... all in the name of power and greed.

I'm liberal progressive in a lot of my views, but I too think some of those views are crazy. I'm still open to ideas from the old school moderate right because progressivism and conservatism work best hand in hand, forming reasonable checks and balances. But I refuse to find any value in the nationalist and fascist ideas being peddled by many on the right. The world fought to beat down these repugnant ideals shortly after the great depression and went on to enjoy the most prosperous 50 years in the history of mankind. Here we are today on the heels of the great recession, staring into the abyss of yet another economic turn down while facing the rise of nationalism and fascism all around the world yet again. There is nothing good down that path, nothing.

Nobody has all the answers, but the way we start to fix this is by voting the hate mongers out, voting the greedy out, voting those who cling to yesterday out, and moving forward to build a government and economy that is fair, balanced, and works for everyday people of all colors, beliefs, and backgrounds.
