WAY TOO LIGHT!...

Goodell came off as easy on management in this one, IMO...

500K to Belichek is not going to change his life 1 iota...he's got several mill in the bank...i understand that's the max that Goodell could give, though, so i'd be ok with that IF...

for cheating against the Jets, the Pats are given the L...

for blatantly defying a Goodell directive, the Pats 08 draft is abolished...

Browns fans are born with it...

Coaches are coming out and saying that during drives at Gilette stadium, coaches' headsets would go out. Marvin Lewis has said it, Jack Del Rio. So they're saying there are other things going on that involve jamming radios, listening in on radio frequencies, etc...

Ok that happens everywhere, not just Gilette. Also the NFL has a group of people at each game that distribute the frequencies before the game, and then monitor them for any interference and traffic.

Are there ways around this? Probably. Cheaters are like lazy people except with motivation, they are responsible for much innovation in this world. If there is a way, a cheater will find it.

I still dont believe this is that big of a deal. He broke a rule stating no video camaras taping coaches and whatnot. I'm guessing teams still keep track of their opponents gestures and match them up with the plays. The only difference i see, is that the pats used the cams to make a video of this instead of something akin to a notepad and paper.

Several people used the Wade Wilson suspension as a reason they thought Belichick would get a multigame suspension. I am left scratching my head trying to figure out why Wilson's penalty was a lot stiffer (no pun intended)

I wonder how much legs this story has? I live in Boston and folks here would like it to end. However, around the rest of the country, this seems to still be a hot topic. I think the rather light punishment (and BB's poor apology) is just adding fuel to the fire.

It's a shame that this weekend's game is in Foxboro. I would love to see how opposing crowds greet "Shady Brady and Bill Belicheat".

The Eagles now suspect the 2005 Super Bowl was tainted. The site (Road Runner) would not let me copy, but here's the link...

You'll have to use the page controls to find the story.... sub story under Belicheck spying story titled "Eagles Wonder."

The Pats just knew too much... after the first quarter, every blitz was handled with a screen pass.... every blitz. It was almost as though the Patriots knew what was coming..... Hmmmmm

Apparently, the fine wasn't all that hefty in the grand scheme of things:
http://www.fastmachines.com/archives/f1/004598.php

The FIA dropped a $100 Million fine on McLaren and stripped them of all constructor points for their involvement in the F1 spying scandal in a ruling earlier today.

The full statement from the FIA:

In an extraordinary meeting of the World Motor Sport Council was held in Paris on the 12th of September 2007, The following decision was taken:

"The WMSC has stripped Vodafone McLaren Mercedes of all constructors' points in the 2007 FIA Formula One World Championshiop an the team can score no point for the remainder of the season *.

"Furthermore, the team will pay a fine equal to 100 million dollar........

Wonder when somebody here's going to say if Bob Kraft had any pride in his organization, he would fire Bill on the spot so, the Browns could hire him to replace RAC.

I happen to think the penalty for Bill, and the patriots, was pretty steep.

Here's my reasoning: Every team does it. It's just that not every team does it from the sideline. I guarantee the Browns do it - primarily in the first conference game with the bengals, steelers and ravens, Just as every team does it within their division - only difference is, the camera guy is up in the booth.

On a side note, "I heard" (yeah, I know how that sounds, but hear me out) if you're in the coaches booth, you can video anything you want. If you're on the sidelines, you can't. So, the patriots got caught doing what every team does, but they broke the rules by doing it from the sideline. That is why I think $500g for bill, $250g for the team, and a loss of a draft pick, or picks, is pretty steep for doing what every team does, but doing it from the sidelines instead of the booth.

Wilson does have a legit beef, it's not like he was affecting the outcome of games like Billy was.

i feel like if your not on the field... you should be able to do everything you want to do off the field except for drugs and alcohol (DUI) abuse, etc. But to fine a coach b/c of a substance he's taking, thats crazy.

I heard a caller today make a good point... that it's amazing that players would get punished so harshly for off the field incidents that may indirectly affect the game... and yet Billy gets a slap on the wrist for directly affecting the game...
