Same old Browns.

Unprepared, outcoached, outplayed, and fans bitching about the referees. Typical Browns opener. It seemingly never ends, even with the very loud hype.

I hated that Freddie thought they needed very little work in the preseason given that he is a first time head coach and that Baker is not a veteran.....along with the number of new players. He looks like a fool right now. I really hope they can turn this around.

Horrible discipline, bad execution, and just a terrible game.

Rah, rah....woof, woof.

And we like to admire our pretty uniforms and carry on about that like it is football.

Garbage performance today. We played like no heart and noire in the belly. And 18 flags! More than they have at the United Nations!

A lot of cheap hype. We were not ready. Think we are exposed at all? Nothing very ambitious to see today. As a fan, I felt cheated today. Won't wake up feeling dangerous for at least a week. tongue

It's one game. I'm still all in and we're still going 12-4. Tenn is a damn good team, and Vrabel is a damn good coach. It wasn't just is being bad.

Didn't read the other posts yet - I am not ready to. I barely had the energy to get onto the board right now.

There is definitely a lot to work on.

The penalties were ridiculous. I do not even know the final total. 180 yards? 200? A million? Absolutely unforgivable. Not prepared, no discipline. Inexcusable.

Some of them more stupid than others. Robinson did show some athleticism in kicking that guy in the head while he was rolling. And not sure what Lawrence said to that ref, but it had to have been good.

The play calling left a lot to be desired, IMO. That first drive was near perfect, we used what we were given. Then for a long chunk it seemed we were too consumed in getting a big play. Their rush, especially after losing Robinson, was giving us fits and we could not afford to run long developing plays. And what was it, 2 or 3 times we were at 3rd and 1 and went for a longish pass. Chubb was doing well, there is no shame in running for 3 when it is 3rd and 1. I think Freddie was trying to be too clever with a lot of the play calling.

And, at the risk of getting panties in a knot, those picks were on Baker. Even the one that was a deflection was not on target. Those were bad throws. And there could have been a couple more.

This is where I am told I am a hater and I do not understand the game and I am not a true fan and I want Baker to fail and that I must enjoy kicking puppies.

Willing to bet Baker takes accountability for those picks. He must not understand the game either.

On the plus side, nice punting. Coverage was there waiting alongside the returner for those kicks to come down.

We are not as bad as we showed, and Tenn is not as good as they looked. Miami would have beaten us today.

Let's hope it's out of our system.

The coaching discrepancy was palpable to me today, and I usually don’t notice it that much

Ugh, having to sit next to a Titans fan while that dumbass Robinson kicks their player in the head.

*wanted to slink into a hole.

The NFL and the Browns better fine his ass.

I am not positive, but I think he may have tried to kick him twice. I saw the left leg fly out first and it missed the dude. Then, the right leg followed and drilled the dude. Athletic move by a big man. Unfortunately, his brain is small.

I expected we would lose, just because The Titans were a 9 win team last year with a very good coach in Vrabel...but i didn't think it would be this bad...

Its only the 1st game, so I am not going to bash them. Its still early and a wait and see approach considering Kitchens is a new Head Coach.

I will say though, with Kitchens the kid gloves have to come off. All those penalties, and that guy kicking a player in the head during a game. The wheels come off big time, and he needs to get things under control in a hurry.

If we lose the Jets game, I fear we could end up on a slide we won't recover from. If we can't beat the Jets, we got the Ravens, Rams, Patriots, and 49ers we could be 0-5 easily and I don't think we recover from that.

Its crunch time. We will either put up or fold Monday night, guess we will wait and see.

Maybe he could be our kicker.

And when I said during the pre-season we should have two kickers on our roster (a light-hearted nod to Phil), I didn't mean our LT should be one of them.

1) The offensive line sucked at first and then got worse as the game went on.

2)These guys were unorganized, unprepared and undisciplined.

3) Baker's passes were off the mark again. He looked nervous.

4) Our rookie kicker and rookie punter looked like rookies.

5) Everyone thought bought the hype will turn on Kitchens quick if we look like this in game 2.

6) Hue Jackson could have beat this game's team with his 0-16 team.

I can't help but laugh at the debacle that just transpired.

I was at the game.

The Browns set off fireworks/flares to make sure fans were in their seats before kickoff.

They offered a 25% discount off all food purchased prior to 12:30pm. Another cue/incentive to be in your seat on kickoff.

The fans obliged and the Browns soiled all over themselves.

The game could not have gone worse.

Someone let Freddie know we have Chubb on the team and we're allowed to run the ball.

Penalties? Unbelievably sloppy play.

Completely unprepared.

I took the Browns at -5.5. Lol

Seibert biffing his first PAT was apropos.

Large dose of humble pie.

Poor performances from many players. Very disappointing.

Very difficult to win a game when you consistently start with penalties. Starting what seemed like every offensive series with 1st and 20.

No excuses. Team lose. Plenty of blame to go around. You can not play undisciplined football. Baker pressed and made poor decisions and poor throws late when conditions called for poise.

Hopefully this will redirect what must occur in order to win games.

I cannot disagree with most of that deputy, but I thought our punter performed quite well. He averaged almost 47 ypk with three inside the twenty and one or two inside the ten. I do not recall any being returned at all but if there were any they were not for much yardage. I am guessing we netted 45-46 yards per. Not much else held up but I thought the scot did fine.

Sorry you had to be at the game Milk, but you describe it aptly .. we took a dump all over ourselves and will now be the laughing stock of the league again

There are only two explanations for what happened today -

1. The team is not as good as people thought.
2. They crumbled under the weight of the expectations.

Considering all the penalties including several personal fouls, I'm going with number 2.

Baker again unable to play well when the team needed it most is also concerning. The team and his coaching staff did him no favors, though.

I understand the overly optimistic like Diam.

I understand the cautious like Vers.

I understand the pessimistic like Dawgs4Life.

But you seem to be in a category that I would describe as angry. You seem to want the team to fail and take great pride in predicting it. You seem angry that they've received hype.

Did the team do something to you personally?

Hard to really criticize anything we were trying to do because of all the stupid penalties. Just overall a horrible lack of discipline, and not acceptable at any level of football, let alone the highest in the world.

Hopefully they can clean this up and we can really see what we were trying to do.

I mean yeah, the officials screwed us on some calls, but I thought most of our own mistakes were self-inflicted. And memo to Greg Robinson, you're the starting left tackle, you protect the blindside of your QB, maybe don't get ejected from the game. Can't argue with that one. That was so dumb.

As bad as today was .... and it was horrible ....... awful ..... miserable ...... and fingernails on a chalkboard insufferable ........ it was one game.

I'll be interested to see how this team bounces back next week.

Browns are NOT this bad. Today was awful. Press clippings don't win games. Neither do undisciplined football teams. Players need to work harder, focus more and talk less. Nobody cares how you look on paper. Today you looked like poop. Everyone needs to relax. It's ONE game. On to New York and the Jets. Everyone have a good week.

After 55 years, I'm walking away from this dumpster fire. Good luck to everyone who continues to hang on. You'll need it.

I think Dorsey gets some blame here too.

Areas he failed to address or weakened hurt us today.

He was in such a hurry to get his hidden gem Harris in here that he let Fells walk. Fells is way better than Harris.

He was in such a hurry to get Corbett playing he made Zeitler expendable.

His hand picked kicker missed his first kick kind of setting the tone for what happened after.

The New Browns look eerily similar to the Old Browns, excluding those flashy unis.
Bad,bad, bad coaching which leeds to extremely undisciplined play.Mr.Lerner should begin to be prudent, cut those highly paid prima-donnas and bring back some of the bums from the'16-17 teams. At least I could root for those guys, everyone knew they weren't going to make it,but they cared and they tried hard. This team is a group of bullies and cry babies, led by super baby.
Another embarrassment to the Butthole of Lake Erie.

I think our lack of improvement on the OL reared its ugly head today ... we need to take a look at how Tennessee protected their OTs

Kitchens looked like a rookie head coach not in control of his team.

Browns fell victim to the hype. Thought all they had to do was show up to win. The first drive was great then things fell apart after the missed PAT.

The rook HC and OL are a concern but I still think they are a playoff team.

I think you have him confused with another poster, maybe leadtheway who is the ultimate negative poster. Dawgs may be annoying with his number of posts and the fact that he rarely clicks on the poster he is talking to, and responds to quotes above the actual quote, but he isn't negative. Hahaha.

LOL. We got all kinds of pressure on Mariota. He was just smart enough to take what the defense gave him instead of holding onto the ball and forcing it into tight windows.

With that said, I am glad we replaced our OL coach who coached PFF's second ranked OL last year.
