I just realized how late the game was for you guys. Why would the league have a Sunday night 10pm game?

I know right? Its ridiculous.
I know you are in a different timezone, but you can have a 2pm game since its the Weekend. And this is a matchup lots of people would like to see.

Great left handed save by the Atlanta goalie. Thought for sure it was going in.

That was embarrassingly bad. How it was only 2-0 is beyond me. We are a very lazy team at times and it showed very much tonight.
I hope the ATL fans enjoyed the game and experience. I saw quite a few Timbers fans walk up to AU fans to chat them up before the game. I hope we returned the hospitality provided to us last year.

I thought it was a good hard fought game and you had a great crowd! The refs were ish. The refs in this league are terrible.

Lots of standing around, lack of runs, and let the game come to them. When we're not aggressive, we play lazy (in general). I get why we didn't want to play aggressively against your speed and talent on the ball, but a team can't completely change they way they play and expect to be successful against a good team.

I heard there was a line around the block and it was about an hour and a half wait. But it moved quick.
He wasnt signing stuff, but he did photo ops with everyone.
As much as lines light my hair on fire, I would stand in that line.

Ok. So, tonight we won the US Open Cup.
We played Minnesota, and their "team song" is Wonderwall by Oasis. They play it at all their games.
So, during the trophy ceremony we played Champagne Supernova by Oasis.
Straight up savage. lol

Whelp. Only 3 home games left in the regular season.
There is a home game Saturday evening vs the Crew. Some of the luxury suites are dumping their tickets for cheap. AND all of the decks of the stadium will be open. It should be amazing!
I want to go really bad, but I dont have someone to go with, and riding the marta train at night is sketchy. There will be lots of fans on the train, but the locals always latch onto me, and I hate it. Its not safe.
So, it will depend on how brave I am. I dunno.

So I decided not to go to the Game.
In other News apparently there is going to be some big protest against the white nationalists.
I dont have all the details, but I dont think this directed at Columbus Crew.
They are just protesting in general.
Its getting a bit old. I understood it against NYCFC because they have a subgroup of supporters that are evil. And that team needs to speak out against it.
But just protesting while playing an opponent that has nothing to do with this. And using it as platform to complain about things is annoying to me. I watch soccer to see soccer and root on the team. Its not supposed to be about random political beefs, and the rules say as much.
So I expect there will be some drama tomorrow. Probably better that I'm not there.

Oh and then other people in the supporters section who say they are bringing a confederate flag.
Please dont. Why does there need to be a WWE style brawl in the supporters section, because yall cant keep your beefs outside of the game? Dont embarass us in front of the country.
Its hard to make a mob cool their jets.

MLS has a policy against anything political. I wonder if they were able to bring in the flag?
The big stink out here is the Iron Front flag. Since it has been adopted (not sure if officially adopted or not) by antifa, it is banned and people have their panties in a bunch about it. Anyone who disagrees is apparently ok with fascism according to the many comments I've read in articles. And of course, the Timbers are fascists because they are removing people with the Iron Front flag from games, following the league rules. Of course these Antifa folks had no issue with a guy being booted from a June game for having a Trump 2020 sign.
Regardless...looks like you guys have a playoff spot all but wrapped up - kudos. We're playing terrible (6 starters our with injuries but still) and it is maybe 50/50 that we make the playoffs. As proven last year, make the playoffs and you never know how far you'll go (in our case losing to some shmucks in the finals, lol)

Yeah, that protest caused a lot of toxic feelings with our SGs, because it was only 1 SG doing it and the other 3 were pissed. But, thankfully, they have dropped it for now. I dont really want non-soccer political flags at the games. I go to soccer to watch soccer, not antifa and trump flags and the brawls that will follow. Our striker Josef got knocked out with an injury today and hauled away on stretcher. Fingers crossed he comes back. It was a weird game. Our opponent had 2 players ejected, and looked like their coach was ejected too. I'm not sure what happened.

Reason #977 Why I Love My Team:
So Josef had a pretty bad injury and they arent going to release details until tomorrow. His knee might be toast.
So, on Reddit, one of the Supporter Group leaders posted an email where we can send get well letters and they will give them to the FO for him.
I knew the SG leaders work with the team, but I didnt know about this.
So I sent them a note for him, and they mailed me back to let me know he will get it.
It made me feel good. That the team top down can be close to the fans. And maybe what I said, along with everyone else, will help him feel better.
MLS is such a different world than other Pro sports. Pretty sure I cant send Njoku a get well email.

I'm with you 100%.
I read this morning about the injury. It doesn't sound good. I'll hope for the best. Guys like Pity and Darlington need to step up big time if he's out for any extended time. There's no good time for an injury, but a couple games before playoffs start is pretty much the worst time.
Side comment...went to the Thorns game last night - I think I've said before our seats are field seats. Last night was girl scout night with 1900 scouts in attendance. Immediately after the game we were able to bring a friend's 2 daughters down with us - and when the players were talking the field after the game, Tobin Heath noticed them and came over to give them high five. Tobin seemed to genuinely enjoy it, the girls I'm sure are still on cloud 9.

That's really awesome that he did that! I bet they loved it. And yeah, if he's out we have a really tough road. We have other guys who can score, but its a big loss.

Playoffs start next week. If the game wasnt so early I would go to it. Maybe next round.
Also, I like last year's playoff format better.

I sucked it up and bought a ticket for the game tomorrow. We should beat them, but it might be the only playoff game I get to go to, because we might not have homefield advantage in the later rounds.
And there was a 100s level suite selling tix for reasonable. How can I say no?
Also, stubhubs new ui sucks. What are they thinking.

How all Physics classes should be taught. I said "blue".
Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.
John 14:19 Jesus said: Because I live, you also will live.

My next mission in sitting everywhere cool in the stadium will be 100s level club seats for the Suntrust Club. Those have amazing amenities. Maybe next year. https://www.stubhub.com/atlanta-united-f...t_id=1555253597

Well, we won. But that game was irritating as hell. And Parky got injured and hauled away in an ambulance with a dislocated shoulder, which was horrifying. It felt like we would never score.
Our goalie Guzan was awesome today though.
I guess we face our next opponent (I hope NYRB) Thurs evening at home.
Edit: Also, shoutout to the doorman for the Suite enterance. It was cold and raining and trying to open my ticket on my phone was a bitch because swiping and typing is hard when your phone is wet. He told me to go inside and get out of the rain and come back out when I can get my ticket up. I thought that was really nice.

I'm not a big soccer fan. But I watched our h.s. boys game tonight on facebook live, video, while listening to the broadcast from our local radio station airing the audio.
2 men broadcasting. 1, a local attorney, played in college. The other, from Scotland, a former pro player in the minor leagues in Europe..........they are just awesome to listen to. The banter they have between themselves, and the Scottish take on things.......man, his sayings, his whole style of speaking, just awesome.

That's cool! Yeah, I like the international flavor that soccer has too. I like that we can play in leagues against teams from other countries. And yep all the different announcers. It is a sport with a lot of energy.
