https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/27738984/falcons-acquire-safety-johnathan-cyprien-trade-eaglesThe Atlanta Falcons, in need of safety help, traded linebacker Duke Riley and a 2020 sixth-round draft pick to the Philadelphia Eagles for safety Johnathan Cyprien and a '20 seventh-round draft pick, the teams announced Monday. I think we're going to start seeing a lot more trades in the coming weeks. Teams like the Dolphins, Broncos, Bengals, Cardinals, and Redskins are basically toast already, they'd be smart to trade off some guys that are at or near the end of their contracts. The Dolphins have basically already been picked clean, the Broncos might want to move guys like Emmanuel Sanders and/or Chris Harris, it's hard to say what the Bengals would do because they are an enigma (they should probably trade A.J. Green), Patrick Peterson demanded a trade from the Cardinals in the off-season, and the Redskins are obstinate (Brandon Scherff would be a great add for someone if made available).

What is AJ Green's injury status? I wouldn't mind keeping him in Ohio!
Realistically, are there any decent guards among to teams you mentioned who might be ready for a fire sale?

Unless we can get a good deal on a TE (and Brown/RSJ did a nice job last week) I’m not sure what else we’d target
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."

We still need Oline depth and a trade to upgrade RT which I think is still a pretty big hole.. Kush has played pretty well. as has robinson and rest of line. I actually think our TE's are ok now that we know we have a pass catching one in RSJ..i mean that back shoulder grab sunday was Gronks bread and butter. We could use LB depth, Can never have enough LB/DB with the way we seem to lose them

Any OL would help .... i’d Take a RT or a decent swing tackle or swing gaurd or back up center over a TE ... well, maybe not the back up center .... but the RT, Swing tackle or back up gaurd ... in a HEARTBEAT ...

Think tackles. The fire sales may not be well lit just yet, but it may come soon. Bengals might be real hungry sooner than others. Psssst! Burfict is not available.

U think our OL is deep enough? ...
Who comes in if Robinson or Hubbard go down? ... what about if one of the guards go down? .. or Tretter? ...
It’s not like these dudes are gonna cost high draft picks ... your looking at 5th rounders at the most ...
What if we could give up next years 3rd to get anyone better than Hubbard? ...

Not asking you to agree. I just stated my opinion.
The offensive line's numbers have been posted on here quite a few times. People are still saying the line isn't good despite the evidence. I look for the line to get even better as they have more time to jell w/a new RG and a new OL coach. It takes time to find that cohesion.
And again, I think this team has plenty of talent to win and draft picks are valuable. We just need for Freddie and Baker to do their jobs and not blow it.

Any responsible GM is looking for a chance to make the team better.. and the Browns aren't in a "must win now" mentality since the vast majority of our talent is pretty young... so it would have to be the right deal...
We need to be in the "does this make sense for the next 3 or 4 years" mentality.
So theoretically, if you have a potential starter/quality back-up guy they are willing to part with for (hypothetically) a 4th round pick and you feel comfortable you can keep him for a few years.... then you ask yourself what are the odds we could do better than this with that 4th round pick? A proven commodity who has shown his ability in the NFL vs a draft pick which may work out and may not...

Logical thinking. However, like the original article stated, the guys that are going to be available are at or near the end of their contracts. That is why I used the word "rental." Teams that are dumping salary and wanting to build for the future are not going to get rid of guys who will be there 3-4 years down the road.

To your point, I'd be on the lookout for a Minkah Fitzpatrick type situation except that person plays tackle.
Won't happen, but if it does I'd like KJ to spring into action.

I was kind of thinking about somebody nearing the end of their rookie deal who may want out that we thought we could trade for and then sign..... a highly drafted player who was ok but not living up to the hype who might sign a reasonable deal? A lower drafted player who was showing promise but hadn't yet proven to be "it"? I don't know.. All I know is that I would consider it..

I know the Redskins want a 1st rounder for Trent Williams, which is insanity for a 31yr old, but I might float a 3rd and see if they bite. Which is still kinda crazy but he'd have immediate impact on the whole OL. If we got 2 or 3 years out of him that would be worth it IMO.

We seem to be having some luck with bringing those types of guys in.

I asked questions .... wasn’t making a comment on your opinion ... was asking questions about it ... sheesh bro ... its really gotten hard for me to communicate with u lately ...
This isn’t a debate about how good or bad the OL play has been ... its about improving it ...
And bro ... u couldn’t convince me u wouldn’t upgrade Hubbard if it didn’t cost much ...
Still curious as to your answers to my questions if u choose to look at them in the way they were intended instead of the argumentative way u viewed then at first look ...

I don't think mortgaging the future for a guy that won't be around long term is wise but every year useful players are traded for late round picks (the Cowboys got Robert Quinn for a sixth round pick). Being in on those guys and rounded out the roster as the season progresses is important.

My reply sounded combative, but I didn't mean it that way. It just came out wrong. I just think the OL is playing well. The numbers support that conclusion. They did struggle in the first game, but have improved each game. I think our problems on offense have been scheme and Baker not being able to read post-snap coverages quickly enough. Freddie made some adjustments in this last game that improved both of those areas, so I feel pretty good moving forward. I think we are eventually going to lose guys and keeping our draft picks is important. But again, I am not asking you to agree w/my take. [saying this while down on one knee and using a sing-song voice while keeping my eyes averted.]

I simply believe we can never have enough depth and there are generally always some area of the team that can be upgraded. AS far as the OL goes, it's been alright but I just feel like we're one injury away from being average or below average at OL and that would be bad. jmo

Always pick up the phone. Always listen. Think before you reply. Gauge their urgency. Take advantage of the situation.
If your phone isn't ringing, pick up the phone and call other GM's with nothing in particular in mind. Start with small talk but listen for opportunity. Repeat the steps above.
I am guessing that Dorsey is already good at this.

Totally agree with this... I don't feel we are really hurting at any position but I expect Dorsey to still be seeing whAt is available... if a good trade is available go ahead and make it

Dorsey is doing those things I'm sure, kicking every rock, trying to improve our team both short and long-term.

John Elway is pretty bad at his job. I'd be checking his temperature often. Because he is bad at his job I expect that he thinks the Broncos still have a chance.

Dorsey has shown he's been ready and able to bring in good talent (and no 'square peg round hole' situations) at the right price or better. I see no reason why he should stop anytime soon.

Totally agree. When Robinson got ejected the first game, the depth really showed out. Can't depend on good health every game either.

Since I started this, I want back at where I was. We may have enough, Vers, and I expect them to improve while we play tough games tough. I stated tackles specifically. I think you want more depth. But if some club's fire sale starts, then I want to shape, especially for proven serviceable tackles. If we get some decent, not premiere talent, make them part of the parade if they can help. Not hoping for stupid trade at all. But I think if we nab an upgrade, our offense improves. Waiting for pieces to all come together can be a tough wait. If a rental or depth can get you through an injury or rough patch, I am for considering it. This is my take. Waiting is like hoping for an inside straight; I wouldn't mind hedging our bet.

Just him alone? Probably not much. A pick or two and him, that would/should get you a better guy.. My other issue is, I don't think anyone is going to give up a solid Oline at all.

I think our OL isn't as bad as some would think. Mayfield was making them look awful the 1st weeks holding the ball too long...when you get 5-6 seconds back there with the ball, which Mayfield was getting, your OL is doing a decent job.
I think we finally figured out against the Ravens that we gotta run the ball with Chubb. Mayfield looked much better with the threat of a running game, and the OL also looked better.
I am ok with trading for someone for depth on the OL, but I think we should stay pat otherwise..unless we can get that guy from the Redskins, he may be an exception, but other than that, we will probably have to make do with what we have which will be ok as long as we run the ball.

I agree that Trent Williams would be the closest thing to a trade that we should be interested in right now... but there's even a hangup with him. The dude is at the end of his contract, and is starting to get up there in age. It would really suck to give up one or more high picks for 3/4 of a season (and then he could be gone). And if he's not gone, you're gonna have to PAY him.

The more I think about it, the more I believe that we're not trading for anyone. We have the pieces we need for this year.
Short of having to replace a catastrophic injury loss, I don't think we trade for anyone, and even in that case, I don't think we'd do it unless we scored a bargain and just HAD to have that player for a playoff run.

I agree with this, at least in terms of major additions. Maybe something minor to swap late round picks or something. But the cost of someone like Trent Williams isn’t worth it IMO

I could see possibly trading a player or late round pick for an upgrade in depth on the OL. I mean an upgrade in depth at the OT position might be valuable to have around.
But I don't see trading away a player of real value or any future major asset. We've seen how the OL can look if the scheme is designed around the roster.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Because of the preferred scheme that Wilks likes to run meaning using two linebackers.
Avery is out of position and would be a better fit for a team running a 3-4.
We have some depth at receiver as well.
My guess is Dorsey is working toward the trade deadline to put something together.
Be it depth on the OL or going after a starter. I think he is trying to make something happen there.
Lamm? They have not gone into how long he is going to be out. Plus I know nothing about him.
They are ok at guard with Kush and the new guys just added. But tackle depth is an issue.
