I tried to find Sheps thread but could not find it.

I cant believe what I saw on Sunday out of my "fellow' Browns fans before the game against the Bengals.

Unfortunately for us we parked next to what had to be the biggest set of jerks there. These guys were not only embarrassing as Browns fans, but embarrassing as adult human beings. It was a sad day really.

First off they had there cornhole set up in the middle of the road. And that's fine, but when its 9am and the lot isn't even close to being full yet, be prepared to move your stuff for cars coming through to fill the empty spots.

Car after car was driving through and they got more and more mad. Yelling at the people to get there earlier, swearing at them. And these are Browns fans yelling at Browns fans mind you.

&ow, if the lot was full and some was driving through thinking he was getting a closer spot, then yeah, that's a dumb move, but there were so many open spots all around us, it wasn't even close to being full.

So another car tries to get through and this group decides they arent moving this time.they leave the corn hole sets and stand right in front of the car. The car trying to get through is a young girl, couldnt be older than 18. She is trying to weave around the people at about a half mile per hour when she bumps one of the guys standing who would not move.

The man (about 55-60) punches her front windshield and smashes it. He is then high fived by the group of 20 who think that was awesome.
T
hese guys get drunk and even more drunk, start throwing the football around, knock over this guys grill and another guys cornhole set. The two guys who got there stuff knocked over, they didn't say anything, just picked it up, but of course the drunk idiots run over and start screaming "relax buddy" with their chests out ready to fight.

Then it gets close to game time and people are heading to the stadium, the main drunk dude starts tossing his football to fellow browns fans and shouting nonsense statements. If the fans did not acknowledge him he would fire the football at their heads or backs.

At one point he fired it at a woman and hit her in the back of the head. She was obviously pissed, the guys she was with demanded an apology, but the idiot just wanted to fight. Seeing that he couldn't hit a girl he through his beer in her face.

Our group then said something to the guy and then he turned his attention towards us and wanted to fight anyone he could. (which was kind of funny cause the guy was about 5’5” and not real big, and they didn’t have anything to say to us all day until that point, they got tougher as the beer flowed obviously)

One of things that makes it most embarrassing is that that group of guys were all early 30's and older. Supposed adults I guess. And every fight they got in, was with fellow Browns fans. It was a sad day.

There are a lot of classless jerks that go down on Sundays for nothing more than to drink and start trouble. 2 years ago I was walking to the game with a bunch hot girls that were Steeler fans (they were scared so I said I would walk with them). As were walking thru the "" chants people started yelling at me for walking at them. Then this hillbilly ran up and threw a full cup of beer over the one girls head, another threw batteries and yet again I heard "You effin traitor" and they started throwing f'in beer bottles at me. Glass beer bottles They hurt too. The sad thing was this happened all the way threw the lot as food, beer, anything people could throw at me they did. All for walking with Steeler fans chicks. Friken losers.

You need to tailgate with us. Nothing like that happens at the Island.

And here is a fine example of some of the fine fans that the Browns attract.

I saw a lot of the same stuff before, during and after the game.

It truly is sad that these individuals are even permitted to act this way.

And then people wonder why the Browns and the Browns fans have some terrible reputations around the league... hmmmm... I wonder why...

Those are not Browns fans,,they are just jerks that use the game as an excuse to act like drunken idiots. It's easy to go buy a Browns shirt and get down to the lot and use that as an excuse to drink like a fish and act like a retard.

I can't believe no one had the gonads to take that guy down. (Then again understandable, because you don't want to be tossed in jail when you have tickets for the Browns). I would've rocked his world as soon as I saw him smash that girl's windshield. Especially after seeing them high-5'ing each other.

Beer muscles are frustrating when you're sober (or not drunk yet).

I'm not sure what started it, but on the way out some bengal fan had a browns fan on the ground choking him, screaming "no one touches my son". His son looked to be about 16-17 and he was in the pile too, not sure what this browns fan did to him but it took about 10 people to pull the guy off of hime. His face was beat red, obviously he couldn't breathe. Ugly stuff.

I don't understand why it has to get physical. I usually enjoy sitting around other teams fans. We have some good natured ribbing, but that's part of the fun IMO. The same Steelers fan sat behind me the last two years; we had a lot of fun talking smack - but that was just it, it was all in FUN.

The Muni lot can be a dangerous place for opposing fans. It's too bad, because it is one of the best tailgate lots in the NFL.

Razing opponents fans is what is supposed to happen but there is no excuse for making someone feel at risk over what shirt they are wearing. I've had great times at games and thankfully no experiences like the ones listed above. As for punching a windsheild...let's see, I am in a 4,000 lb chunk os metal, Mr. Puncher is standing punching my window....IF it were me dude would be a hood ornament.

Perhaps this is why our tailgating was ranked so low recently in another thread. There's no 'fun' to be had when you are fearful of getting into a fight with some drunk jerk.

Not just an opposing fan, but a fellow fan after what I saw on Sunday.

I've seen this same act in many other stadiums. Beer, passion for your team and fans from the other side all combine to make regular people into total jerks.

I have a feeling that something is going to happen in regards to tailgating...and it's going to make a lot of "good" tailgaters angry. Either that, or the worst case scenario is going to happen (someone is going to get killed - via hate crime, assault, or vehicular), it's been a ticking timebomb in that lot for a few years now - especially the early season or rivalry games when the lot is at it's fullest.

One thing I was very leery about yesterday - fans setting off fireworks now in the lot. That lot is way too packed for that.

After reading all of the above posts, the only solution that the NFL and Owners are going to implement and I am ready to run on this one, NO ALCOHOL ALLOWED DURING TAILGATING! I hate to put it out there but it is bound to happen. ..I, fortunately am glad that I have not run into any of the above problems but I promise you that if ANYTHING is thrown into my direction and it isn't a football for me to catch, I will guarantee you that "Preacher Man" will become "TKD man" and start taking people apart.. .That's a promise.....

Unfortunately, I think Beerdowner is right. Sooner or later something fatal will happen and things will change. They won't change now b/c the fans would cry foul, but as soon as something terrible happens, that will be it.

And you guys are right, tailgating can be a lot of fun when done properly.

Sounds like a pretty sorry group of guys... I wouldn't have wanted to miss the game, but I probably would have snapped seeing that. No reason why anybody should be treated like that, no matter what colors they wear. Disappointing that it's "Browns" fans doing this to other fans.

I've never been tailgating, so I wouldn't know the loss if something bad enough happened to ban it from the Muni Lot. To use an old expression, a couple of bad apples spoil the bunch.

And that's absolutely correct. And I tailgate in Muni (at DTI) and have no problems with our group. We once had some idiot Browns fans (drunk as skunks, of course) try to start crap with a Raiders fan that was visiting us. We (and by that, I mean the guys, because, I'm a lover, not a fighter baby!), defended the Raider fan.

Fireworks in the lot? that's so stupid.

Bengals fans frustrate me more than any other fans in the league but I wouldn't think of doing anything beyond typical smack talk.

Hearing about fights just makes me hang my head

Exactly what I said in shep's thread: it usually takes someone getting killed before changes are made.

Why don't they send some cops through the tailgate lots now and then? Not to bust people having a good time and minding their own business, but to weed out those who can't handle their liqour and keep acting like jerks?

I like beer as much as most, but I don't enjoy drinking before or at sporting events. It makes me wanna p*** the whole game and the memories get a little fuzzy. I didn't drink a drop when I went to the Falcons game and I'm glad I didn't.

The cops are there...And they are very cool.....I was talking to a bengals fan yesterday....and he was pouring his drink out of a gas can...A cop walked up to him...and said ...Hey buddy....your going to lose today...but you don`t have to drink that and kill yourself.........

That was funny as hell........

I was with 2119...

I've tailgated for MANY games since 1999. This was just disgusting. I was so shocked and appalled.

2119 is right, it was Browns fans on Browns fans...which isn't even the point.

It was human beings vs human beings, and based on the way they acted, these "fans" were ***holes in every day life.

Fighting them wouldn't of helped the situation, it would've just brought us down to their level.

I hope that guy broke his hand on that windshield.

The Island was jus fine.

We only had one problem, when I almost had to fight a bum. He asked for a beer, and some money, I told him I only had six beers and no money. He then proceeded to tell us that he was just going to hit us and take our beer "so yall don't have nothing".

He pretended to wind up to slap my fried, and then proceeded to fall directly to the ground, where he couldn't get up.

337, saw the whole thing.

Other than that, I just had to kick back and pound some shots and beers. Noice!

Then again I can handle my liquor, and don't get belligerent. Just there for a good time, not a long time... Guys my size usually only act tough when they're drunk and in a crowd of friends.

They do have a good amount of cops that patrol the lot, and considering what they're responsible for and whom they have to deal with, they are very cool.

Thing is, you're talking about 20-30 cops trying to patrol a half-mile lot of ~8-10,000 people.

BpG - in regards to the aggressive bums - it's happening all over downtown. The changes I've seen the past 1-2 years in general in regards to the bums, panhandlers, and people with flat out mental illnesses downtown sickens me. It's 10-20 times worse than it ever was. Now they're infiltrating the tailgating lots...great.

We tailgated in the West 3rd lot with the OAFDAWG tailgate this week and had a blast but I think next time we are going to hook up with the DTI group. WHat time would we need to be there to park with the DTI tailgate??

I know there were a few jerks from both ides but 99% of the Browns fans and Cincy fans laughed and joked and had a good time. Hell even my buddy was razzing on a Ciny fan the whole game and I guess losing got to the guy becasue he yelled at my buddy to shut the eff up. Kid of a poor loser I guess but I just grabbed my friends arm and pulled him awya from the guy and told him to leave the guy alone.

Overall it was a great day in Browntown.

I usually arrive there around 6am...coming in from Canton.......I would say no later than...8 -8:30....or you`ll be parking in the lot east of it.....

But if the team wins next week...and the weather is good.....we may all have to camp over.....

if you know for sure when you a coming....I can save you a parking spot...as long as the gates are open..........

That is why I pulled my friend away and told him to leave the guy alone.

The only reason I said he was a poor loser is he ran his mouth the whole game but then when he was on the losing side he wanted to get mad and start cussing people out. I am sure if they had came down and beat us on that final drive he would have been giving it to use real good.

and I probably would have told him to shut the eff up
