Quote:
Nick Chubb is the AFC offensive player of the week

Josh Alper,ProFootball Talk on NBC Sports 35 minutes ago

The aftermath of the Browns’ win over the Ravens in Week Four has been filled with arguments about whether Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey choked Browns wide receiver Odell Beckham during an in-game scuffle.

That’s overshadowed the plays that actually decided who won or lost the game. Chief among those plays were Browns running back Nick Chubb‘s three second half touchdown runs.

Chubb scored twice in the third quarter as the Browns built a two-touchdown lead and then broke free for an 88-yard score in the fourth quarter that helped put the icing on the cake for Cleveland. Chubb finished the day with 20 carries for 165 yards.

The NFL announced on Wednesday that Chubb has been named the AFC’s offensive player of the week in recognition of that effort. It’s the first time he’s taken home the award.

Yes. And as he was 5 yards, 10 yards, 15 yards and more in front of the nearest defensive player, notice the ball. High and tight.
And I like that he never looked back or slowed up, often the times when you either get caught or tweak something
Showboating is not in his nature. No taunting, now "look at me" celebrations, just take a moment to celebrate with teammates before getting back to work.

This is the same reason why Barry Sanders was and continues to be my favorite pro athlete of all time. In an interview with Barry it was pointed out that many players had spectacular scores and had some sort of celebration to go with it, that it was like the exclamation point to the sentence.

Barry's reply was simple and to the effect of: my touchdown is the period.

There was a lot of concern with the quantity of strong personality types on this offense. If you told me that Chubb is the guy who keeps everyone else grounded, I wouldn't be surprised one bit.

But yes, they are real. Holy crap this guy is a beast! Glad he has an even better character to go with that!

I'm having a hard time figuring out why there are more recent posts about photoshop than about Chubb as a person, a player, and his Player of the Week award?

I'm not saying that it in a mean way, but it just seems odd. confused

I had a good friend in hS who ran track with on our team. He also was a DE. I think he weighed about 275-280 his senior year?

I remember when he line up in the 100 and he was wide as 3 of the kids and torched everyone. Him and one other kid on the team went on to play in the NFL (both ran track). So, Yes, I would expect these pics of Chubb to be real. I would expect NFL players to be faster than most of the kids.

Dumb take and complete overreaction.

Everyone loves Chubb. The pictures just looked strange. That's all. They're not. That's cool. It's no big deal.

Not for me... I've been photoshopping all those dumb posts out. Dude, I don't understand how people talking about pics equates to you thinking they are diminishing his skill-set or the fact that he's an exceptional human? I've never seen anyone here dispute either. Calm down bro - we're all with you!

In the words of another poster, they "can post whatever the hell they want". I forgot who said that, do you remember? If you want to get that anal about it, the original topic of this thread probably ran its course on the first page.

This is from his first touchdown of the day... defender was way out of position, turned around to try and grab him, tried to grab his leg or arm and when he fell the helmet came off.

Both this and the pic of Baker flying in the background should become wall posters, or murals downtown.

So I love the change in fandom on Chubb from the first page of this thread to the next 3... rofl

Kid showed us last year what he was made of...breaking the Browns record for longest run from scrimmage...now I believe he has the 2 longest.

Here are the facts. We passed way to much the first 3 games that is only going to get Baker killed and have us lose games. We are best when we establish the run and do play action. We create horizontal stretch and then Vertical. Without time to throw we can't go vertical.

Chubb is the real deal. I was wondering the other day myself why he doesn't get any accolades from analyst as a top guy...of course I'm sure this week they will act as if they knew all along he was good...lol

Also keep in mind who we have played.
Titans have a pretty good Defense.
Jets Defense is better than average.
Rams one of the best defenses around...dang wish they could have tackled as poorly with us as they did the last two games!

And Ravens were said to be ALL WORLD by the announcers....best Offense 5th best Defense blah blah blah...we cold cocked them into submission. ERGO pick with them on the ground as Chubb bursted by them for a TD!

jmho

Defense wins championships. Watson play your butt off!
Go Browns!

Chubb has 92 yard and 88 yard runs. Bobby Mitchell has a 90 yard run a mere 60 years ago.

So Chubb has 2 of the top 3.

Nick Chubb on pace to shatter several Browns modern era rushing marks
Jeff Risdon
October 30, 2019 8:14 am ET

Nick Chubb is off to a flying start on the ground in his second season. Chubb is lifting off at a historic pace among Browns running backs in the last 50 seasons.

His current numbers through Cleveland’s first seven games:
134 carries, 738 yards, 5.5 yards per carry, 6 TDs

Chubb would shatter a couple of Super Bowl-era Browns rushing marks if he continues at his current pace. Since 1967, the most yards by any Browns RB in a season is 1,307 by Jamal Lewis in 2007.

The 5.5 yards per carry beats Greg Pruitt’s 1978 mark for Browns RBs with at least 100 carries in a season. He’s over halfway to surpassing Cleveland’s post-merger touchdown mark of 11, set by Trent Richardson and Peyton Hillis.

Chubb is 85 yards behind league-leader Dalvin Cook for what would be the first Browns player to win a rushing title since Leroy Kelly in 1968. However, Chubb and the Browns have played one less game than Cook’s Vikings and his average of 105.4 is the league’s best.

These 3 fumbles, coming in such a short span after him being extremely careful with the ball... could that be an indicator of overuse so far this season?

I'm asking a sincere question. Not trying to insinuate or anything. Appreciate anybody's insight.

I’m not sure, maybe? Or maybe just freaky coincidence? The one against Seattle was the most egregious IMO ... the two against NE more freaky

That's great but when Kamara is available that load will reduce and I'm much more interested in keeping Chubb fresh down the stretch and winning games than feeing him in order to set records.
