I think we have a chance to win this game. We are coming off of a bye week and Patriots played on Monday night. That gives us an edge. Other than that, here are some keys to the game:

--During last night's telecast, they put up a graphic that showed that Brady threw 24 passes in 2.5 seconds or less and another 17 passes in 2 seconds or less when NE played the Jets in week 3. New England has one of the worst OLs in the entire league this year and we know Brady doesn't fare as well when he gets pressured up the middle. So, my first key is to put a lot of guys in coverage and rely on our DL to get quick pressure. I would like to see some stunts where Myles loops toward the middle. Ogunjobi could be huge for us if he can get penetration. The key is having the LBers and DBs play a mixture of man [underneath] and zone behind them. I'm hoping we get Ward and Greedy back.

--Do not blitz Brady. He's too smart and he will eat your blitzes alive. We have a lot of money invested in our DL. They must produce.

--New England's D is playing out of this world right now and I think it would be a mistake to have Baker try to beat them by reading coverages and going through multiple progressions. I would utilize a lot of quick, one-read plays where I have OBJ and Landry on the move and try to hit them short and let them run.

--We're going to want to run the ball. New England knows it and Belichick is the master of taking your best weapon away. I think he will try and take Chubb away. So again, we have to run him just to not abandon the run, but if we can hit guys like OBJ quickly, like that long TD pass we had against the Jets, then our guys might be able to run a long way because I think NE will be stacking the box in order to take Chubb away.

--Baker can't hold the ball and take sacks. Throw it in the dirt and don't play hero ball.

--We cannot make a lot of penalties that puts us behind the chains on offense and gives them extra opportunities when we are on defense. Oh, and Freddie. Stop yelling at the refs. It doesn't help!

If D coordinators got Baker and our O number, then he is toasted with BB...

Don't see how we can win this one...being competitive and not getting anyone injured would be great.

- Recognize and handle their coverages and stunts and defenses
- Get the ball to our guys quickly
- Use Chubb when possible
- Limit penalties and turnovers
- Pray

NE plays man to man almost all the time. Those quick hitters will be key. We got guys that can beat coverage, time for short routes and crosses. The key will be Baker. He needs to throw quick and accurate.

On defense, you hit the nail on the head. NO BLITZES. Rush four and cover like a blanket. Our Dline has got to step up. The talent is there, time to show it.

Don't negate any advantage of us coming off a bye and them coming off MNF by juggling the Oline.

I have a feeling that our offense has continued to morph. I hope to see the bye week paying off in terms of getting the offensive scheme more in line with the strengths of our personnel.

-Defense has to play the best that it has played so far this season. Our Dline has a chance to earn their hype. Greedy and Ward need to come back healthy and ready. I would really hate to hear excuses that their time off resulted in rust.

-I'm not worried about Chubb playing well. Dude is a machine and a grinder. What I'm looking for is our vaunted WR corps to do some damage on big plays. I think the way we score and get the offense going this game is for OBJ and co to break off a couple big plays. Doing so early would REALLY help.

Cleveland needs to run offense like NE does with a poor oline. Quick read, fast developing plays and run the ball.

Baker needs to play safe and not turn it over, and trust the supposed "historic" talent we have on the Dline to show up.

The all-world receivers need to catch the ball and not volley it to the defense on the quick hitter plays.

I figured it would move up towards 12, but not that quickly

Keys to the game:

Baseball bat to Tom Brady's knees.

Baseball bat to Belichick's head.

Baseball bat to Edleman's hands.

Baseball bats to McCourty's and Collins's groins on general principles.

That outta do it. wink

Probably loony tunes here but I think NE is ripe for a loss.

They have played a easy schedule. You can't control who you play. You just beat up who you play.

They are a good team. In order to beat them you have to play mistake free. Can not make it easy for them with turnovers.

We have the players to give them problems.

I agree Bill will stack on Chubb. He will try to get us in third and longs.

This is the game that we have to go reverse order. We need to pass early. WCO style lots of quick patterns. RPO's with YAC yards the goal. Get them in a cover mind set then bring Chubb once you establish the pass.

On defense. We have to take Edelman out of play. He is the go to guy for Brady. I have great respect for him. He kills zones. I think you have to play press man on him.

Their offense is based upon play action. I agree you can not go into this game thinking blitz. You have to play them straight up. If you blitz him (on occasion) it has to be to shake lose a unblocked guy like a delayed safety.

I have enormous respect for the Pat's. At the same time I think they can be beaten. You have to play a sound game. Have a good plan. Work the plan. Execute well and don't make unforced errors.

The Pats :

Offense;
279.9 yards/game pass(5th)
97.6 yards/game rush(22nd)
31.9 points/game(1st)

Defense;
148.4 yards/game pass(2nd)
74.7 yards/game rush (2nd)
6.9 points/game (1st)

Pats have taken that ball away 22 times, and are +14 in differential. (both 1st in NFL)

They are scary good.

Look at who the Pat's have played.

Steelers - 33-3
Dolphins - 43-0
Jets - 30-14
Bills - 16-10 (A struggle)
Washington - 33-7
Giants - 35-14
Jets - 33-0

Not exactly murderers row. They torched some bad teams. The Bills gave them a plateful of trouble.

Get your cues from that game.

They are the Patriots. But they too can be beaten.

Bet on the Patriots. They will easily cover the spread. They are better than last year while we are still floundering. This game will probably be over by halftime. If the Browns beat the Pats it would be the biggest upset in years. A miracle. Baker is having one hell of a Sophmore slump and will be facing a Defensive genius in Belichick. The Pats never overlook a team. Bill would have their ass if they did. For the first time in a LONG time, I'm not sure I want to even watch. I will of course, but I have the feeling we are going to get beat ugly.

You think we are better than the teams they have beat? Hardly. Baker is in the midst of a terrible season. He's throwing more picks than TD's We can't run the ball consistently so we keep our D on the field WAY too long. Eventually, they fold. Is it possible to win? Sure, anything is possible. But the chances are virtually nill. Great teams beat worse teams. It doesn't make them less great. On the other hand, we can't seem to keep from shooting ourselves in the johnson. What happens when Baker throws three picks in the first half against the Pats? I'll tell you what, they kick our ass. If we were firing on all cylinders and at the very top of our game, I doubt we could beat the Pats. But it would be a good game. Unfortunately, we aren't even close to playing good football right now.

I hate to agree with your points Spirit but I believe your right. I can't see us beating the Pats especially at their place. It would take a huge and flawless effort on our part and an off game on theirs. I would give it a 10-15% chance of that happening . But I love my Browns and will watch anyway. After 52 years, what's one more frustrating gut wrenching loss.

A lot is being made about the 0 blitz the Patriots ran against the Jets and Sam Darnold. While we should be prepared for more of that, I think the Patriots will be doing something completely different on defense on Sunday. They are not a team that just runs back game plans. This is what makes the Patriots great, they change their entire game plan on offense and defense on a weekly basis based on what their opponent does.

Usually the Patriots focus on taking out what their opponent does best. On offense that means Nick Chubb is probably in for a rough day. I think we should focus on getting Chubb the ball on passes over the middle when covered by linebackers and getting him the ball with screen passes.

The Patriots have played a ton of man coverage so far this year. They have two very good corners in Stephon Gilmore and Jason McCourty (who they got from us for nothing). This is where OBJ should excel. If the Patriots blitz at all OBJ will have man coverage with no one helping over the top. Jarvis Landry could also have a big day catching passes in the empty spaces vacated by blitzers.

On defense I think we should hold up pretty well. I'll be interested to see how much Greedy Williams and Denzel Ward play. TJ Carrie will probably move back to the slot which means he'll be covering Edelman. If we are without Damarious Randall then I will be worried about who replaces him. In the two games that he missed earlier in the season he was replaced by Jermaine Whitehead but our entire secondary is different at this point.

My guess is that Myles Garrett will be double all day. That means that Larry Ogunjobi, Sheldon Richardson, and Olivier Vernon will have to step up. The Patriots offensive line hasn't been all that good so we should be able to get some pressure.

Thanks for getting this back to keys of the game. I agree w/almost all of what you said and I even said some of the very same things in my OP.

I don't think J. McCourty is all that great at corner, though Thus, I think Gilmore will shadow OBJ. Gilmore is probably the best CB in the league right now. So, I'm thinking that quick passes to Landry should be a huge part of the game plan.

I saw a stat on Twitter, and Twitter never lies, that the 7-0 Pats, without the offense ever going on the field this year, would still be 3-3-1... can that be true?

I heard on the radio that if NE's offense would have not yet taken the field this season, they would be 3-3-1 right now.

it probably means we’ll have 3 fumbled snaps, multiple dropped passes, DBs slipping all over the place, etc haha
